Yes the digital (download) version. You get this when you try to buy it.
To ensure the highest quality service we have temporarily limited the number of copies of Guild Wars 2.
As more capacity becomes available, we will make Guild Wars 2 available for sale again.
In the meantime, we encourage you to visit our retail partners , who may still have copies available.
Looks like I won't be playing for . . . well your guess is as good as mine.

I guess when they reached the " Oh F**k .. we can't cope " amount
When Aventurine did this with Darkfall all the trolls here and elsewhere screamed "worst launch in history of forever because I can't buy a digital copy!"
Guess we can all admit finally that Darkfall had a good launch.
There are plenty of ways to buy it besides a copy from the official store. Other online dealers and retail stores have plenty of digitial and physical copies. This really shouldn't slow down anyone that wants the game given the amount of purchase options.
Turning off digital sales does not equate to being sold out. And really, how does a digital copy sell out exactly? Do they get to the very last set of code and then poof?
Come on...
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Sold Out != temporarily limited the number of copies. Anet sure failed in predicting the sheer volume of players during headstart and on into launch and the effects it's had on the game performance but I would expect the digital copies to be available soon now that things are (appear to be?) settling down somewhat.
Aye, plenty of copies in the stores around here that still sell PC games... *glares at Walmart and GameStop.... Diablo 3 is NOT the only PC game in the world....*
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
It means you have to go to a store to get a physical copy. Arenanet is doing this to move physical copies. They are trying to help those retailers that purchased GW2 copies.
You think that is the reason? I really think they misjudged sales and don't have the hardware support or possibly manpower in place to handle an onslaught of sales anymore to be honest.
That isn't a compliment to them by the way before anyone decides to slam me.

This is old news and there has already been at least a couple of threads about this.
A.net have disbanded there digital sales until the servers are more stable however you can still purchase retail through other outlets
If someone is talking in general chat in a language you dont understand, chances are they're not talking to you. So chill out and stop bitching about it!
Yes I do.
I think most PC gamers are buying digital and retailers are still figuring out that they are the odd man out.
Actually I think it's more like Anet stopped all distribution but physical stores still have copies left to sell due to the distribution lag. People have complained all the stores around them are sold out as well.
