With GW2 live is any other game worth a sub?

Odd, I resubbed to WoW and bought the expansion AFTER playing GW2.

I spent six months nursing an Amazon parrot back to health that suffered from a severe case of self-mutilization. Poor thing would tear its own feathers out, then tear its own skin to bleeding.

    You gave me flashbacks.

    Oderint, dum metuant.

You like something other than GW2? My head literally exploded. Then a couple sharks swam out of the blood spurting on the ceiling and started breathing fire. The fire was overkill because they had lasers strapped to their heads and they were shooting them all over the place. My cubicle chair wrapped itself around my twitching body, android style and started driving my body all over the office. It really was a shock.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Exactly. :-) Nothing new, same was with GW. I do not eat crap even if free. Prefer to pay to have decent dinner.

Some people think that paying for a Taco Bell, McDonlads, Wendys, etc meal is a waste. I do. Just because it is free, does not mean it is bad. And just because you pay for something, doesn't mean it is good either.

I have a subscription to WoW and will not cancel it because of GW2. Last I was reading GW2 has too many issues anyway.

I still play 2 sub games and am not planing to stop either of them anytime soon i would however have cancelled GW2 by now if it would be a sub game but since its not i am able to enjoy it as a back up game from time to time XD

Mostly server related. Gameplay wise works fine.

Endgame dynamic events broken but yes, mostly server issues, hacking and customer service is hurting ArenaNet right now.

For a game that officially went live on August 28th - it had much fwer problem than when WoW went live. I remember I couldn't log into WoW for the 1st week because it had that many issues.

Most of GW2 issues are growing pains and things that you wouldn't see unless you go live.

The tab-targetting aspect is incidental.  I'm back to playing games that have a sense of progression and focus.  One in which you feel a sense of actual accomplisment when you complete a group activity because you weren't allowed to just zerg it into obvlivion through strength of numbers.   And GW2's combat isn't good enough to make me swear off another combat style for good, btw.

GW2 is a good game for what it us:  An uber-casual, no-stress game with a beautiful environment.   In other words, it's a good game for a second MMO, which is what I'll be using it for.  A few hours a week of exploration.  Then, when I want to actually have that sense of achievement and forward progression, I'll play WoW.

At this point there are very few games that I care to go back to. In the near future (next year) there are very few games that are getting my attention. Now that I have a solid and healthy MMO title with no sub fee, the sub games will have to be exceptional to get my attention.

Yeah I agree, and WoW had a lot less issues than Everquest launching, and Everquest had a lot less launch issues than The 4th Coming launch, and The 4th Coming had a lot less issues at launch than Ultima Online, see where I am going with this?

Hell, now that I think about it Lineage 2 had a lot less launch issues than GW2 and WoW at launch, does that mean that Lineage 2 wins?

I would like to add that a new xpac release for Blizzard is bigger than pretty much all MMOs combined nowadays, and they have managed flawlessly throughout, patch, deploy, maybe a 5-10 min hitch on the login once your in it all works. And thats with 8 year old technology.

There is hacking in every game.  It happens.

Customer service is not bad but they are swamped - EVERY game that has a big launch like this has the same issues.

Anet is a bit on the small size for the amount of peeps (probably in the 2 million range) they have playing GW2 atm.

They were expecting at best a peak 350K concurrent players in 1 month, and during the headstart they reached 400K. I wonder if they haven't broken that number once the rest of the population went live.

So some people might think that this is an indication of lacking customer service but I have around 7 years of experience as an Anet customer, and never had problems with them, even when I had to go through NCSoft.

It is launch, a bigger launch than they were prepared for.

I just thought you would go back to TERA.

Well, it is a bit hard to accomplish anything in WoW by zerging in open world, since you won't see many players there to start with and certainly not playing together. :)

    I vote yes.

I am also an older, 35+, American, I also find that  more often than not, you get what you pay for.

Example: I have 3 support tickets I filed with TSW, where I pay a sub, they were solved in 10 minutes of less from petetion time.

i doubt those same tickets would have been resolved in less than 10 minutes

if they were submitted 3 months ago during TSW launch week

Not to mention TSW has had no where NEAR 400,000 concurrent users.

It also provides a nasty atmosphere for the devs because they usually only listen to the players wants when the game begins to lose subs en masse.

I do not understand what then you suggest? What is recipe for you to improve gameplay of content? I see only 2 possibilities. First: somebody spend 100 milions of $ just to make happy people that would play for free; good example of altruism but not sure if this works this way; Second option: using cash or other shops. By my experience, when I have played such games at the end of month have discovered that I have been paying double ammount for crappy game then I would spend for some marvel of gaming with sub.

Oh, btw, what I would really like to know that you immagine that YOU are the one investing a looot of money. What would you suggest?

A lot of people love chocolate and I bet that a lot of people would love to obtain 5+ years' supply of chocolate for a mere $60, right? However, would those people stop eating, and paying mind you, pizza or burgers or steak? image

They WERE solved in 10 to 20 mins, sometimes nearly instantly.

I don't understand where all of this radical enthusiasm is coming from. GW2 is a good game and it has some nice features, like WAR or TERA, but let us see how the game holds up first. Then declare it to be an industry shattering masterpiece that makes everything else, including the pricing model, obsolete.

It's only been one week, people, calm down.

Hasnt been a game worth a sub in quite some time thats not to say I havent subbed to SWTOR for a couple of month but IMO the last game worth a sub was SWG I would actually pay a sub to play GW2 and as I like to support developers will be giving them £8 a month for gems irrespective of if I need them or not.

It is really up to each to decide. And GW2 cant replace games like Eve, they are just too different.

But I dont really see any need right now to sub to a fantasy MMO.
