Originally posted by Terminus-Est I am not a hater as such, but I am very disappointed. I have a problem where my right mouse button can't be used consistently for turning, and I am finding it impossible to enjoy this game. They have no forums, so no technical forums to ask for help, and no support to speak of. Seems pretty pathetic to me.
Change the camera setting in options, that should do it.
Don't you think i might have tried that? Jeez... some people...
And here I thought I was the only one having a similar issue. Now for the thread, I haven't read every post, but the individual stories are total crap. At least in SWTOR you get choices that earn you light/dark points. It at least gives the impression that choices matter. Here you get a few choices at character creation and... No more that I've seen.
You make choices during your personal story as well, they matter and story takes different routes based on them. Haven't played SWTOR but as story was it's main selling point I'd imagine they did it better. Not that it's bad in GW2.
Actually I dont recall your choices in SW:TOR impacting your story. They only impacted your companion loyalty and your light/dark side, which in turn only affected what gear you could craft/buy. Bioware single player games did branch based on decisions but I never saw that in SW:TOR.
If GW 2 stories actually branch based on your choices, then that is an improvment.
Yeah, not to spoil anything but at some point you have to make a choice that heavy influences the story, and at other points you decide where to go.
Remember... all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.
Teleports all over the map, tripping over the same events, no seamless world; it's all incredibly gamey.
This is a good point. Waaay to many waypoints that you can instantly teleport to (at least in the low level zones, can't comment on higher lvl ones yet). It makes the world feel much smaller than it is.
The game is just not for me, pure and simple. I wish it was because people seem to be really enjoying it, it would be nice to have an MMO I don't have to sub to. When I played beta i had this niggly feeling that I didn't belong. Kinda like turning up at a gay rally as a straight guy. Quite frankly, I'm sick of talking about it and seeing it.
I hate spvp being 8vs8 while tournament play is 5vs5.
Id like to play normal spvp and still be able to practice builds for tournament play because some builds can be amazing for 5vs5 and just suck for 8vs8.
5vs5 recuires more tactics and team play. 8vs8 is just a button smash clusterfuck imo.
When i play spvp i always want to play just 5vs5 but i cant because most of the time our 5 man group is not complete.
I bought the game. I like it. There's nothing original in this game. It's fun and well done, but there's absolutly nothing new in there.
If having something new in a game would be a major ingridient of its quality than games like Zeno Clash would be considered best game of all times. But they are not. Instead for example - what did Half Life 2 innovate ?
Even aside from that GW2 brings completely new perspective to MMO while being basically grounded in the same roots. Something Vanilla WOW did long time ago.
Dynamic events are nothing new... straight from WAR.
WAR was game with some great ideas , but horrible execution. We should acknowledge that.
GW2 is game with great ideas and great execution.
It's super grindy... Even the exploration feels like a grind
If its super grindy, how come people have reached lvl 80 in first 3 days ?
A lot of zoning/loading
Loading is very short. And zoning was discussed over and over. Everyone knew it will be there.
I really hate the way quests are narated... it's ugly and looks stupid (i prefer swtor on that). It looks and feel last minute.
And I hate movie "Goodfather" I know its considered one of best movies ever made. But I think its amateurish and poorly acted ! ... Just kidding. But yeah, i think its a mater of personal taste. Alas I agree some races have it better or worse. Asura for example is just top notch.
sPVP menu is the worst UI i have ever seen. Again looks and feel last minute.
Yes. Great reason to dislike the whole game! bring the torches !
So far, no need to group... Single player game?
In GW2 you are constantly in group. It changed the concept.
Traditional MMO grouping is more for buddies to keep track of each other on map.
GW2 is the first "WOW clone" that actually work. Even the Dynamic Events which I didn't like in WAR and Rift work for me.
Having said that, the game is nothing new, still too fast leveling wiyh some people reaching lvl 80 in a week, still too easy, still too solo friendly. Oh and the Trade Post not working is getting on my nerves now. I am still enjoying it though, because that's basically what I expected.

DE's are not like WAR, they impact the game world.
It's not grindy at all compared to every MMO out there. Less grind than anything i've played.
Not alot of zoning, the zones are huge and the loading times are fast.
Personal story branches out depending on choice, the cutscenes aren't all that great but the fights are really cool.
sPVP is awesome, it will become an e-sport no doubt, they will implement spectator mode and this part of GW2 is worth 60 bucks as a standalone product. Alot more enjoyment than any MOBA or FPS shooter.
Not hatin', just realizing it's just another themepark with dedicated rides in dedicated places, as shallow as any other game that came from the same mold and in general staying as far away from it as possible because I am more and more convinced that most mmorpgs that are intended for a very large audience are simply not for me (anymore). Hence my absence in the past months. edit: and my terribly outdated sig :P
yaay The Pony is alive and well! Was wondering what had happened to you.
I'll have to disagree on the 'just another themepark' comment though, different enough from most theme parks to make it a special snowflake IMHO
Having major differences does not make it "not" a themepark. DisneyLand anb SixFlags are different as can be, but both are themeparks.

You need groups for dungeons, sPVP tournaments.
