I did forget to list one thing. The evidence I've collected of large numbers of TERA and TSW players migrating to GW2 for both the PVE and personal storyline. They're saying the same things in map chat, that those other titles weren't good titles so they are having a blast over in GW2. I have to say this isn't surprising.
They are personal opinion's though and if someone has a different opinion that doesn't agree it doesn't mean they are bashing the game.
I don't like Country and western music .. but it doesn't mean country and western is bad but just thay my own taste's differ .. The problem arise when people turn around and then say " You are wrong for not liking country music " as if the only correct mindset is the one they hold.
Huge difference between saying, I don't like country music and country music will be the fall of the entire industry, or country music will fail and lose all of it's listeners because it's b2p (literally music is b2p why don't we hear about this being bad) yeah that's what i'm commenting on.

Agreed. GW2 totally revolutionized MMOs and haters are just too mid-blown by all the changes to comprehend it.

Big difference in alot of those posts you mentioned, and yours obviously baiting people. The OPs were saying they didn t like it for whatever reason, not one said it failed, it s just not for them. Some in the post might have said that, but the OPs were giving opinion.

the biggest thing I think most of these people have (if they've even played it), is they play it like WoW. Seriously though, they complain about combat, no trinity, hearts are the same as quests (which yes they are but if THAT is what you're focusing on, you're playing it like WoW), and no gear grind.
The MMO community, and a LARGE majority of it, has been SCREAMING and CRYING over CHANGE!!! We want NEW!!! Enough WoW clones!!!!!
It happened to SW:TOR, it's WO:TOR, it's a pure WoW clone with "flashpoints". It failed hard, people bitched, kicked and screamed, complained and rampaged, WE WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!!!
Now they got something different and they play it like it's WoW.

It's not the MMO devs fault they can't find good games, it's their own.

There is nothing to do at 80.
The dungeons aren't fun.
Guild chat doesn't work most of the time (still)
There is no authenticator and people are getting hacked in droves.
etc...
BTW where is that e-sport we were promised?
Sounds to me like the PvP is just too complex for you. That's nothing to be ashamed of though, I personally had to spend a couple of years taking graduate level courses to prepare for GW2's PvP.
lol can you imagine how sloppy of an e-sport this game would be?
I enjoy one thing on here - the tournaments. but there is no way in hell it could ever be someting more legit than a past-time of chaotic fun.
the game is no where near the hype it got. it's no where near a revolution or an evolution.
what happened was all the kids who have never experienced an MMO launch came to GW2.
funny story - EVERY MMO launch is this way. it seems like gold. it's new. fresh. etc.
a week later it's a ghostland and everyone gets past the 1-2 things they did right, and the millions of flaws.
MMO veterans know the deal - buy the game a month later if the player base is still 1 mil + and the reviews are still hyped.
but it's been years since we've all seen that... since well.. the game that all these GW2 fans are hating on...
WoW.
lul.
have fun trolling everyone. i'm going to sleep. because my addiction for this game is obviuosly - non-existant. i remember the days where the release of a game this hyped being an mmorpg would cause sleepless nights for at least a month straight..

chack ou the how much have you spent at the gem store thread. Some are bashing people who spent money, others are bashing the people that have not. Sort of like reading the political forums isn't it?
BTW count on it getting hated on as long as it's population is greater than WoW's the fanboys and shills are still in shock and awe that people are bored with the same old same old

Preach on brother. GW2 really did something else, whereas WoW just copied a bunch of existing features from previous MMOs and changed them just enough to not get called out on it. Haters just too blind to see it, man.
I was able to tell that GW2 is quite bad after 3-4 hours of playing in CBT. It was enough for me. I am PVE lover and 3-4 hours are enough time to know that combat is somehow boring and events are like normal quests - well tbh worse than normal quests. I dont care about content and features I missed! And I wish GW2 expiry. Why? Its simple, because if this is the way MMORPGs will evolve in near future so naah its end of MMOs for me.
Other than that crazy guy who started a thread called "We need GW2 to fail", can you provide evidence of these "nonsensical" hate threads?
you just named one of them. I'm sure if you simply click on GW2 forum general you'll see a large number of them there with the common theme, "fail" "i tried" "last hope" "will it die like SWTOR" "really wanted to like it" the large list goes on. It's not difficult really, notably since these started the second day after head-start.
How are any of those nonsensical? Just people with their opinions.... They are haters? WTF?
I tried my best.... - A guy who thought he would like the game but started to get bored and thinks it's not for him.
These are topics with high amount of posts in the last few days. Please show me where all the nonsensical hate is... Other than the "we need GW2 to fail", all I see is people's opinions. No hate at all.
I'm beginning to think that you don't value opinions that you don't agree with. You just label them as hate? If that is the case, you shouldn't be allowed to post on forums. You're incredibly Immature.

You got it backwards. The PvP i enjoyed most is DAoC's and it doesn't get more complex than that. GW2's is actually quite simple and boring (few skills, low duration cc, no resource management, everyone is a "dps" etc) They took WoW's PvP and made it even more casual.

There are a few more things that needs polishing up, particularly some balancing issues. For one thing is rezzing people in a DE far too little rewarded since it helps a lot and I noticed that people are less willing to rezz during combat lately then nefore.
And the game needs a bit more optimization as well.
But yes, things are going in the right direction fast. But dont worry, forumtrolls will find new things, like that there are too little grind or too much, or something else.

I dont think it is just their fault, we as players should help them out a little and the tutorial should have an voluntary part for former Wow players.
People are just too set in their ways now, just imagine if they got their hands on a sandbox game... But lets help them out a little with some pointers instead of pointing fingers, a lot more of them would enjoy the game if they get the basics right. Noone really explains how you should fight combat so many new players make what they think a "tank" and try to stand still and build aggro. When they get raped by trolls a number of times they think the game is boring and quit.
Lets group with a noob each and teach the basics instead of being elitist bastards, it will actually help the community a lot.
I wouldn't call the game revolutionary, but it is a good game. I only have a few gripes, but the only major ones are the occasional disconnect or crash (probably somewhat related to my old video card). Not a big deal considering most games at launch don't even... launch.
Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.
nope just responding to nonsensical threads i've seen since the SECOND day of head start in these forums. It's amazing the things people come up with to bash a title with just because they happen to be fans of TSW TERA SWTOR and their history shows it well.
A little bit of irony. There are quite a few GW2 fans who used to be from those games. There's even a review from a guy who said he used to be a GW2 hater and "converted". I should know, since while lurking i remember his posts from TERA. This happens with any game, stop trying to make seemlike GW2 is special in this case. BTW, the games i'm more interested in have not been released yet even.
Just saying, they'll do anything and everything in these forums on this site to bash on a successful game title.
I don't think it as anything to do with being sucessfull, since, like i said, it happens with all mmos. BTW, how do you kow it's sucessful if it's not even been out for a week?
I did forget to list one thing. The evidence I've collected of large numbers of TERA and TSW players migrating to GW2 for both the PVE and personal storyline. They're saying the same things in map chat, that those other titles weren't good titles so they are having a blast over in GW2. I have to say this isn't surprising.
Not in-game, so will not comment on this chat part, but i believe you.
Oh and just because you don't LIKE the content end game for GW2, the fact that it's there and completed at launch is what the main point of this thread was. People kept saying they doubted it was finished, it is. And it's the equivolent at launch of four out of the five WoW main game and expansions. Can you imagine what will come out next for their expansions at Anet?
Content being there is very important, but it also needs to be good enough. Also, while not in Orr, i already pointed out the comments from thos who went there and that are saying it's buggy. Can't confirm myself, but so many post about it must mean something.
Don't know what they'll do with expansions. Which is why we have to wait, not only to see how much content they'll have, but when they actually come out.
Like i said OP, people aren't necessarly "hating" the game. Yes, there's negative posts, but, i mean, it's not like there aren't any overlly positive threads filled with hyperbole
The #1 biggest issues for me are the clunky movements/controls and the camera. Absolutely the worst camera in MMO history. SPVP in particular is practically unplayable because of it. If they ever get around to tightening the controls I'd probably enjoy the game more. But for people like me who have played 40+ mmos since 1999, the game feels very very shoddy.
I think the biggest concern is wether this game is good or the long term or not. To me it sounds like its a good day at the carnival but then you wind up going back home because it isn't fun anymore.
There are a few more things that needs polishing up, particularly some balancing issues. For one thing is rezzing people in a DE far too little rewarded since it helps a lot and I noticed that people are less willing to rezz during combat lately then nefore.
I agree, I try and rez myself not only becasue it is the polite thing to do but also you get experiance for it and also it counts toward special rewards at various numbers of rezes performed. I remember I had one pop up at 50 rezes. Not sure where the next ones are.
I think the drop rates for jute and wool are a bit low. It is one hell of a grind for an aspiring tailor.
Why does everyone look at what GW2 does offer and make statements like.......
"Hearts...Nothing new here..seen it before"
"DE's...Nothing new here...Seen it before"
"GW2 doesn't bring innovation, it's all the same stuff just redone"
yada yada??????
Yeah, just about everything in GW2 has been done before.
It doesn't have to be new. It just has to work. And it does. For me and all my friends who are playing.
Exactly my point. The games only been out less then a week for most people they've had to stop purchasing digitally due to the sheer volume of players and people are saying this crap solely on this websites forums. Really? really now? That's what this whole thread is about. They fixed the major issues they had at launch, they haven't completely polished out the bugs (the occassional lag) but it's hardly how they are presenting it.
Please don't try to incite other users. You aren't helping the environment here with this sort of thread. If you're frustrated with some of the stuff you're seeing on the forums here, the best counter to that is to create constructive discussions of your own for other users to partake in.

GW2 was my last hope for the genre....... so back to paper and pencil - Similar to above
Worst game ever. - Aggrssive title with a guy who was not pleased with certain features.
A short, hate-free summary by a current level 80. - Similar to the first two; just a guys opinion on the game.
Arena Net failed with the launch of GW2 - An opinion of the state of the game with all the glaring problems that were present
this game is paifull for a healer at heart. - Self explanatory

good to know now go back to you old overrated school of mmo's pandaland is coming soon
the mmo industry is changing either u like it or not time to deal with it...gw2 is doing that and now most mmo's will choose this path
