...previously held by Hello Kitty Online.
You've been having this go on?
I have to say this has been the most laid back I have ever seen group play. I have not run into a single dick blaming people for things or remarking on their gameplay.
Han't even seen a rage quit yet which considering I pug dungeons is pretty impressive.
Now if Icould only use the term "pretty impressive" to describe the dungeons themselves...but that is a different story.
It's in reference to a number of threads I've read both on and off these forums.
On another note, "Honey Boo Boo" recently had "...over three million viewers for its August 29 episode, we're thinking the Thompson family might be pulling in more money if the show is picked up for another season."
I see alot in common here. One certain demographic likes one thing, another demographic has a modicum of taste. I'm relatively sure GW2 is the "Honey Boo Boo" of the gaming industry.
Stated as opinion, to clarify.
Ah my god I love this thread lol. The amount of ridiciulousness that you guys believe...I just don't know what to say. Actually, all I'm going to say is this.

Honey Boo Boo:
Metacritic critic score: 47/100
Metacritic user score: 2.5/10
GW2:
Metacritic critic score: 93/100
Metacritic user score: 8.5/10
What's that metacritic score like if you include the tens of millions of mmo players who "aren't" playing gw2?

But seriously guys, please don't leave. Keep this up, it is genuinely entertaining. I haven't had this much fun in a thread in some time.

Well this thread is certainly breaking records with the amount of different haters ganging up on the game.
Without haters we'd live in a world where delusional fanbois will have you believe that stopping product sales and poor projections are indicators of success.

Currently playing: GW2 Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders
I went on a 10 day cruise so I missed the "big" launch of GW2. Did it live up to the hype and break all the records, smash WoW, and all the other stuff people were saying it was going to do?
I tried searching for any big news on it and found nothing other than decent pre-launch numbers.
We are currently at the stage where we realize it's another TERA, TSW, SWTOR etc, just without a monthly fee.
That sums it up perfectly.

LOL...no. It's not black and white, and if you see it that way you are part of the problem.
How about instead of joining the "hater" or "fanboi" political parties, we all just look at the game rationally and individually and give it praise or criticism as we feel it deserves.
I've come off as a "major fanboi" in this thread, but that's only because the VAST MAJORITY (not all) of the arguments against the game in this thread are just SO RIDICULOUSLY STUPID that I literally could not bear to hold my tongue.
As for and actual criticism of the game, I will freely admit that the stories are overall lackluster. In addition, folks that like the "large PvE team" experience of raiding will probably miss it in GW2. Despite this though, I still think it is the best MMORPG on the market by a large margin.

god I love reading stuff like this lol. May want to try a different approach, I'm not sure anyone is going to buy into the "GW2 failed because it sold more than predicted" spill lol. Maybe it failed because it got better reviews than expected as well?

In the business world, getting better reviews that you forecast, which lead to better sales than you forecast, is a serious fail. Don't U know???
Also on a more rational note...underestimating demand CAN be a major fail in the business world but only if:
1. You miss a window of opportunity to sell your product that only exists for a short time. I doubt this window exists for GW2.
2. Your manufacturing process is so lengthy that it will take you a long time to ramp up your production to meet demand which could seriously hurt your sales. In GW2, they just have to setup new servers...it will probably be ready in a week or two...big freaking deal.
Otherwise, reporting that your product sold out can actually INCREASE demand because consumers will perceive it as more valuable.
They suspended sales to artificially create a "demand". They know the game will shrink considerably in popularity over the next two months and they'll rotate in new suckers while real gamers go back to real games.

Hundreds on the shelves here in Canada in every dept store. Def not sold out, that is a mass marketing ploy.... /yawn

I love how people are described as delusional and irrational fanbois by simply trying to state and provide actual facts to give a reasonable response to the op, while at the same time offering a rebuttat to rediculous made-up crap. I'd like to believe that most readers are able to wade through obvious bias bashing, but in reality, I don't have that much faith.
The bottom line is that the game is selling so well that ANet took just one small step to actually slow it down a tiny bit. Again, they didn't stop all sales avenues so everyone that wants to can still get it. I really don't feel like participating in these types of threads but I can't help myself sometimes. In the end it doesn't really matter what the negatives say, the game is a blast for me, it's very popular despite what some declare and it's highly likely that it will maintain a very solid playerbase.

No copies in the Walmart around the corner when I popped in to buy an ink cartridge for my printer nor any at the Game stop where I paid off my preorder for Borderlands 2 yesterday on the way home from school. I guess my story should hold more weight since I don't claim to know how many copies are on every shelf for every dept store like you did. See what I did there? This thread is pure win. /yawn
Apparently a lot of people feel threatened by GW2. Some crazy nonsense replies on this thread. No matter how the haters try to spin it, the sales and active players have been very strong. With so many direct digital sales and the gem store, I'd expect revenues to be very strong as well.
Anyhow, GW2 broke my "most hours played at launch" record which goes back to EQ/AC. I haven't played any MMORPG as much at launch. Helps that there haven't been any major issues for me.

The funny thing is that his statement is ridiculous no matter how you take it...
If you take it as there being hundreds of unsold GW2 copies on the shelf of ONE department store...then that's absolutely crazy lol. No way are there hundreds of unsold copies in ONE store.
If you take it as there being hundreds of unsold GW2 copies in ALL OF CANADA...then that's actually really good for GW2 lol. That means that GW2 has sold all but (at the most) 999 copies in all of Canada.
I'd love to see some of the people in this thread confront ANet staff the same way they seem to be able to muster the balls to retaliate against forum posters...

I about got my head tore off for mentioning I was at a friend's house watching him play and when in big battles like WvW the game would freeze for a second to load up all the models, and his computer isn't a cheap one either. He built it himself and it's easily 2-3x what the recommended specs are.
Edit: It will run AoC on max settings even in guild sieges (50+ players in an area) at 75 FPS constantly...which is the max AoC allows it to run. Skyrim runs at 45 fps on max settings with HD mod too.

Sorry to hear that, the game runs fine for me and I have a 2 year old gaming comp, but I have heardthat others have some issues. I think there may be some compatability issues with specific hardware. Hopefully they will get this ironed out, because otherwise the game actually performs very well.
Game runs fine for me too, when it runs. I found out that it isn't just GW2 that's crashing my pc, it's all graphically intensive games... but my pc is more than a few years old and GW2 never freezes on me otherwise. I just need a new card or mem. sticks.. sigh..

I had the exact same problem once and I blamed it on Civ IV because that's what I was playing at the time. Turns out that, just like you, any 3D game would crash my computer because my video card was bad.
