Yeah, I am not a fan of DCUinverse with all of the characters being mostly sidekick-clones of the signature DC heroes (if I want that, I'll just play Gotham City Impostors (and I do)) but this... it's taking that one step further in the WRONG direction.  No, you won't be playing a Superman wannabe, you'll be playing SUperman! Or in this case, insert a Marvel property.

Some have said this isn't an MMO.... I'd actually counter that it is in fact an MMO.... but it's NOT by any means an MMORPG wich is what this site is dedicated to.  MMORPG fans don't want to play Daredevil.  Few of us want to play a Daredevil clone.  No, we want to play our OWN hereoes with our OWN stories.  Sure, playing in the DC Universe would be a lot of fun for me, however the fact that I am so intricately tied to Batman, Joker, Superman, whoever I pick.... That's where it loses me.  Let me head to Amusement Mile and ask Joker for a few odd jobs.  Then let me head up to Metropolis ane do a few a jobs for Lex Luthor... That's how they should have done it and how Marvel shoudl do it here.  But, as I said it looks like they are taking a step furhter in the wrong direction PAST DCUniverse, and that just makes the loss of City of Heroes even more painful.  CO has a few things right even over CoH, but it has enough wrong that it's just not fun (more fun that DCUO, but still not fun enough).

This game has mor ein common with diablo than is does with any MMORPG like dc universe.

The game play and quests are very much like diablo was/is.

David Brevik? If this is the best he can come up with, then I'll echo the sentiments of Jay Wilson: Fuck that loser.

    Game looks like absolute trash.

Unless they're changed their mind about "you can't play a character that you create, please choose one of ours"--

I'm not sure it qualifies as an MMO at all.  Pass.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

Sad. It looks really bad. The graphics aren't even as good as some of the COH upgraded stuff. The animations are very stiff. Pitiful. Just sad.

Joking aside I'm not holding out too much hope for this even though I've read Marvel Comics since I was about 5 .

Theres nothing in ths game I've seen so far that would make me want to pay a sub now if it was buy to play then that would be another matter .

Marvel Heroes is a free-to-play MMO Action RPG created by David Brevik, the visionary behind Diablo and a team of industry veterans assembled specifically for this project.

Marvel Heroes combines core gameplay elements of Diablo with the expansive library of characters from the Marvel Universe.

Overall just not my type of game as I have a different vision of what a superhero MMORPG could/should be. Unfortunaly my type of superhero MMORPG might never become reality since I would like to get a feeling of actually being a superhero with a alter ego.

Just wish MMORPG's would actually go back to going beyond just being online combat games.

Join the fight to save City of Heroes.  You are able to make your own hero with up to 10 completely unique costumes.  I have many characters that have an "alter ego".  While their name over their head may not change, my friends that I roleplay with know that when I am in a certain outfit, that's the alter ego.   What really is fun is when my character Jennica Fortune (who in all costumes has a white kitten on her shoulder) dresses up as the Wicked Witch of the West (which she does often, not just for Halloween... she's a bit obsessed.), I will have people complement the CAT'S FEZ AND TUXEDO!  That's because while it's of course not possible in the game to actually put the kitten on her shoulder in a fez and tuxedo, the players who know me or who read my bio see that RP wise her witch cosstume includes a "Flying Monkey" outfit for her cat.  Especially on the Virtue server (but on many others too) City of Heroes is SO much mor than just an online combat game.  My friends and I tune into www.thecaperadio.com, stand around in Pocket D or any number of other places dancing, and roleplay.  The developers themselves even show up many times over the years not to help out a player with a problem, but to be there as  their signature character roleplaying right along side us.  That is something I've NEVER encountered in any other MMORPG and I've played many over the years.

It's definitely not a standard MMO.

Then again, what does that matter?

The game looks like it might be fun.  Will be playing.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

Well, at least it's not as bad as One More Day...
