I have no idea why this game isn't listed on this site. If you want a sci fi sandbox then look no further... Graphics monkeys should just move on to the next post.

MMORPG.com you have some absolutely terrible browser based and even some text based on this site. Why have you overlooked Shores of Hazeron? Do you have to pay advertising dollars to get on the list these days, or are you guys just lazy?

Although it may have a great concept and idea, it is freaking 2012, not 1990...that is why it is not listed on this site. I love sandbox games with great ideas, but now days it better have decent graphics.

Didn't I say graphics monkeys should move on? Ya those AAA companies are really nailing it on the head right? Hell SWTOR graphics look no better than SWG IMO.

Anyway... LIKE I SAID. If graphics are the most important thing you look for in a game then don't bother clicking anything. Also if you don;t like the graphics you are perfectly able to reskin the textures in game. If you could be bothered to do a little research you would know that they graphics are placeholders.

If you really can't wrap your head around the fact that Bioware pumped out over 100 million and still delivered a game with not that great graphics, and expect independent developers to have top grade Cryengine 3 graphics then you are completely dillusional.

Some old C64 games had better graphics, so c'mon please!

My 1st thought when I saw the ship 'fly in' was that it was made with minecraft. Think that says all...

Minecraft? Oh that game with not very good graphics that has outsold most every MMO to date?

It does say quite a bit doesn't it?

Seriously go play some failed AAA Themepark if all you care about is graphics. This post is for the thinking MMO player. Not the Peanut Gallery.

*looks at signature and sees 3.8K hours Lineage II* Not sure what you mean by AAA graphics and themepark...

And you're the only one talking about this game here, so I guess you're the only one to care about it. Enjoy, have fun but DO NOT FLAME OTHERS FOR NOT LIKING THIS LESS THAN C64 EMULATION.

    Ignore the trolls OP.

I don't play this game, but I agree it should be listed. I don't see how it doesn't qualify.

I am flaming because of your lack of reading compreshension skills. I specifically stated that this game is not for Graphics Monkeys. So what did you do? You instantly dropped a troll post about the graphics.

Simply put this game is good, and if you're looking for a solid Sci Fi Sandbox then I have led you to water. It's up to you to drink it or not.

Thanks Amana. I passed that link onto the developer.

I'm thinking of diving in to this.

The graphics are... well... let's say an acquired taste, but they can be beautiful.

Standing around a campfire in a primeval world as the sun goes down, surrounded by my tribal compatriots and ring of wigwams, as the stars come out I look up at the Jupiters we are no doubt orbiting and think: we need space power.  How to get from the stone age to the space age?

Then I survey the star map and realize there is an entire spiral galaxy out there to explore, with player-built civilizations I could join should I so choose.

I'm not a fan of the business model: $5 to try for 15 days, then $10 a month.  It's not the price so much; I just think they should give a free trial period to see the actual game.

    Otherwise, this looks absolutely incredible.

    UPDATE

So I chipped in $5 for this.

How many games do you know where the creator, not some tutorial AI in effigy but the honest to goodness creator, incarnates in front of you wielding some Buck Rogers heat-beam pistol and proceeds to fry a couple menacing creatures I didn't even detect having wandered into the jungle outside my starting village before going over the basics of constructing a mining building he designed?

    Hoo boy...

When you start a new character you have the opportunity to roll your DNA.  That's right... in this game you roll your DNA.

I turned out like some frog-legged bipedal wolf creature with moth wings having frost-breath as a natural ability.  My starting village is populated with folks just like me, of varying age.  It isn't until later that Haxus (the creator) mirthfully informs me I'm herbivorous and won't be eating meat.

There is a lot of crafting in the early game; Haxus directs me to collect some bones and leather from the carcasses he's zapped and create a sewing needle and a backpack.  I forage stones from the surrounding environment; Haxus mentions oil and ore are also important natural resources.

It's buggy, the UI is clunky, and it's one of the most ambitious games I've ever seen.

I thought this died years ago, I played this back when I had my xfired 5770 gpu's...lol  Was free back then.  Pretty sure Haxus closed the project down at some point.  Wasn't aware it came back.

Was major lag issues when making your own ship as some people made massive beasts that ended up bogging down the guys server.

I had made a blue print back then of a voyager intepid class ship but pretty sure at some point everything got shut down.

The ship building was fun but very much a timesink.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

Well it would have helped if the OP hadn't walked in here in defense mode ready for a fight. Instead of "why is this game not listed? you guys fail and your site sucks" a better approach might have been "hey, this game is fun for me, could you folks consider listing it?"

No that it matters, but lost me here.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

agree with this , game looks promising and il wait to here more , but he ceratinly did not help his promoting it with the attack attitude ..

and i believe the way it works is the Game dev themselves need to contact the site and request they be added .. Suzie could clear that up

I wasn't speaking to the OP as much as the MMORPG.com community.  There are different schools of thought on whether it's better to start a new topic or continue an old conversation.  Since there is a "search" function, I have the ability to reply to old threads, this is a relatively obscure title, and much of the conversation from 2012 is still relevant I felt it was better to continue the "Hazeron" discussion here rather than begin a duplicate thread.

It’s a lonely experience being teleported halfway across the galaxy (or who knows, perhaps to a different galaxy altogether?) to a civilization of winged bipedal dragon creatures standing a head taller on average; I feel out of place as a moth-winged, frog-legged, horned, herbivorous, sentient wolf, but I walk around on two legs, so there’s that.

I am now a part of this civilization, which means if I “recall” I go nowhere but here.  This is it, folks. There are tall buildings everywhere, and if I stand still long enough several townsfolk more often than not come up to gawk at a distance.  I’ve tried interacting with them but they remain silent. I know that if I attack it would likely raise all kinds of havoc: I’m smarter by a hair.

Then there are the motorcycles.  I’ve learned to use vehicles by checking the wiki; motorcyles are by far the most fun as of yet.  The city is extensive and there are roads leading everywhere. As the engine revs I can hear the RPM drop when I shift gears (AT, apparently).  Drifting around corners as I pass lit apartment buildings and lush jungle foliage brings a brief wave of OutRun nostalgia.

I can go just about anywhere I try on a bike; off-road, up a mountain, sailing over a ridge and luckily taking no falling damage.  The only thing I lack is a space ship.

Looking up at the moon, I know that that’s a real place.  I could go there, with the right equipment. The problem is I am trapped, here.  I am a stone age creature caught in an industrial age civilization, with no working knowledge about how such things as spaceflight are accomplished.  So, I satisfy myself by exploring this planet. I can get halfway across the continent on half a tank of gas (motorcycle MPG FTW). The metropolis I’ve been exploring is the only one on the planet, judging by the world map.

There is a lot more to this game; it feels like I’ve been just scratching the surface.  Unfortunately, my 2 weeks are up. Was it worth $5? Absolutely, and you should check it out.

Yeah next time just start a new topic when you see a thread hasn't been replied to for over 5 years?

You can always link the old one. Not many of us are gonna bother squinting to see who necroed what and when of every thread that gets posted here.
