On the other hand gw2 has the massive score of 9.3 in nearly all websites without any marketing using only pure gamers opinions.

When those pityful wow fans are seeing this they get upset "oh no a game that has potential to kill our wow "They enter they try it they see the pve dungeons of gw2 and then they make a comparisson with wow's pve dungeons. They then realise that is total crap compared to wow dungeons.

To tell u the truth yeah the dungeons in gw 2 are not so intriguing and does not give enough of strategy thinking.

But if arenanet decides to fix those ridiculous dungeons along with the ridiculous performance of the game and the several issues the game has wich is natural for a 2 week game. Then wow along with it's player base will start trembling.

Sorry OP but that made me laugh so much. So because several review sites say the game is good (have you actually read those reviews, i have seen more detail in a five year olds story book compared to some of those) it has to be that way for everyone, no-one could possibly not like the game? There are nearly 1000 good user reviews which hold more weight in my opinion than the magazine site reviews, but there are also over 130 bad reviews which are just as valid.

I don't play it myself at the moment, but i am watching it with interest and will probably buy when things have calmed down a little, but in the mean time i am listening to both sides of the arguments as they both have merit and that is the general idea of forums like this that are not controlled by the game companies themselves in that people are free to express their opinion and others are free to express theirs in return.

There are those on here that will turn almost anything into an 'argument' given half a chance, but there are also some healthy debates to be had as well.

And you totally gloss over the first part of his post...

Did you actually read my post? I didn't gloss over anything i addressed it directly by saying that everyone has an opinion and they are free to express it whether we may like it or not. The initial part of my post just pointed out that it is a little rich to say that so called 'Anti Fans' should hush up because the OP considers someone elses opinion should be more important than anyone that considers otherwise.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Yeah sure. As much as it will disgust me when it happens, when the wretched Pandyland expansion blows GW2s sales numbers out of the water I think we'll see exactly just what "killing power" this game really has. Hate to tell you this guys, but I've tried out your little game, kicked the tires and taken it for a test drive. And while I will say that GW2 does not suck by any means, it just doesn't look to have the staying power to build a truly long lasting and steadly growing player base. Sadly it looks to be yet another case of "The Mouse That Roared."

As to the OP, just what the heck do you expect. The hysteria over this game has been ridiculous for the past year. Before release it was the shrill fanny fanbois trying to shout down anyone who didn't think GW2 was going to be the next Elvis. And now its disgruntled folks who bought into the insane (and unfair to GW2) hype only to realise too late they had once again bought a pig in a poke. This shits just going to keep happening until the industry gives we combative idiots another bone to chew on.

Well said, but I disagree. The genre has been waiting for a long time for a change.

If you go into WoW and look at the servers there are many that are just PvE. These servers are basically filled with folks that just want a casual style of game. If you are a die hard PvP fan, you play on those servers designed for PvP and are more than likely a true fan of the grind/raid. I know it's a stereotype, but I believe this is where most of the anti-GW2 players are from.

GW2 is imho going to grab and hold many players of the PvE servers from WoW, Rift, and other semi-hardcore gamers in general. These players are people that love fantasy adventures but don't like the stress of raids and being ganged/camped.

Back to the OP. When it's all said and done though, it is a $60 video game. If you like it play the heck out of it, it is one of the best values for entertainment out there. If you don't like it, go to a forum of your choice and promote that game, not degrade the ones you don't.

I do not think you opinion of where the hardcore players are is correct. Pve has some of the top raiding guilds. More people just do not like open world ganking.

Wouldn't the site implode? I mean, doesn't this site live off of the opposing camps of players? The "It takes too long" versus the "It should take longer", the "Rosy Old Days" versus the "Shiny New Present", and the obligatory "Sandox" versus "Theme Park" threads?

I think in any thread there are at most 4 posts where two people with opposing view points actually listen to each other and allow for the opposing view points to exist without thinking it will trigger some sort of of apocalypse.

If we did as you asked, the site would implode and then nobody could get good video card advice from Quizzical. Those would be sad days indeed.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Of course, then only two topics would remain:

    1) Things were better in yon olden dayz.

    2) Sandbox vs. Themepark.

I've read both of those, far more times than any hater-vs-game temporary hoopla has ever gone on.  How soon they forget, those long slow periods between game releases, when all there is to do here is feel the gentle wash of hot air being blown hard against your face.

While I agree 100% with this we know it can't happen. The same posters, who have an obvious agenda to try their best to denegrate GW2 at every opportunity, will keep on posting their inane BS every chance they get. I don't mean people with genuin complaints or opinions, I mean the ones that flat out lie. Fans then react with their usual venom. It's a bit of a no win situation really.

I've pretty much stopped posting replies because I just can't be arsed with the drama any more and the number of people I have blocked has risen sharply over the last 2 weeks.

In fact I'm only posting this becasue I'm taking a short break from the game to make some food, otherwise I'd still be busy enjoying myself in-game.

Why is it egocentric to claim a game is bad because I don't like it, but it isn't egocentric to claim the game is good because I like it?

While I agree with the gist of it, isn't this a bit hypocritical, Creslin?

After all, just the other day you said "all options in SWTOR sucked" - and it has a metacritic score of 85, which is not too shabby at all! :)

Out of all the MMO's in 2012 currently released I would say Guild Wars 2 is currently the best.

    I have played

Tera, TSW, looked at Diablo 3 Snapshots, and played lots of other MMO's currently in beta unreleased.

I say all these MMO's especially Tera, and TSW were big let downs, I subscribed no more than 2 months on Tera and quit, same with TSW after the first month.

Tera as a game for one add a cash shop at launch, got greedy I wanted unlimited customizations they wanted P2P + F2P model it didnt work for me.

TSW as a game, Lacks customization as a P2P model, I couldn't freely customize, lack of choices of clothing on launch, and the loading times sucked (No it isn't my computer.) IF it takes more than 7 seconds to load its too long for me.

    Guild Wars 2 on release

Good Graphics, speaking about Female toons because I play them the artists could have done better at least at the starting armors with what I saw some armor covers too much like at the character creation screen when you first create.

Lack of customization, a feature I hope they give free is for customization so people can remove tatts, swap their character appearance, but charge people for additional costumes. I would have bought a pirate outfit already but because I can't use it in open world I will not, and until I know for sure if the other that attaches to armor can be reused im not buying. I dont like the way that system works.

Dynamic Events, I think I heard before Launch. Guild Wars 2 is the best MMO of 2012 I give it that, but as a game it hasn't brought anything amazing other than Scripted events on timers which trigger X Event at X spot or location spawns boss X location simple Scripting and events... Boring...

What I want to see instead is the decision to Kill other players in a realistic, or fantasy world, one like DarkFall where they will not know its coming or when. A way to actually fight events not on scripted timers a way to make it feel more real. For me in Guild Wars 2 it just didn't drag me in so much it felt like I was just doing quests in wow, I knew all the events were scripted, and meh nothing amazing RIFT had the same function for that matter. ( I would like Death blows like in FURY Online.) Similar to DarkFall but different skill animations. * I want to hear my enemies scream when I use fire magic on them and they are on fire. I want a way to freze people with ice magic hit them with a hammer and they break apart kinda thing, and more realistic skill moves, not the generic wow stuff.

I haven't had a chance to play the entire game for weeks or anything because Im currently playing other MMO, but I do believe that GW2 especially with the trading system is currently setup decent enough, and they have done a decent job compared to any other MMORPG of 2012.

Maybe more improvements will come, and changes to make it even better I could go into talk about so many changes that would improve the game but chances of developers actually listening 1 to a million because developers tend to do what they want lol. GW2 as a game wont die, but we have seen what happend to Tera, and TSW.

Also on a note playing Guild Wars 2, it was a very fast install a couple of hours MAX digital download after allowing the right ports access, and then from there the game loads almost instantly something  TSW as in FunCom could not do on the launch of their game, and Tera being the second saying that GW2 loads 100X faster than both of them.

    +2

    That is the question.

After all, just the other day you said "all options in SWTOR sucked" - and it has a metacritic score of 85, which is not too shabby at all! :)

Oh, now this is getting interesting.

Because the OP want's dissenters to shut up because they are "wrong", and is just trying to say it in a pollically correct way by uttering the words "everyone has a right to their opinions" without really taking it to heart.
