Dude got flamed in map chat about how DE's weren't "Dynamic". I mean, that's not something subjective at all like saying "this game sucks". I'd understand completely if the latter statement had been made, but when you state something specific about a mechanic and people go nuts on you it feels a bit weird when it's in-game as opposed to a forum.
claiming DEs are not dynamic is just as subjective as saying this game sucks
both are negative statements and will cause a fuss
This forum is irrelevent and I see no correlation between the bumf that folks spout here and what they actually go and buy. My mate called me up last night wondering if he should get it BASED ON SOME REVIEWS HE READ ON AMAZON. he asked me if it was worth it and I said "yeah it's pretty fun but it you don't like it it's not like you have to pay a sub." So he bought it. This game's is popularity is growing because when friends ask other friends about it, and most of those friends say go for it. unlike a good portion of the posters here, most gamers are capable of seeking out information on their own and acting on their own bloody volition!

You're going to have that in any game though unless the subject at hand is almost universally vilified by players in general. You've been around long enough to know this.
Start remarking about a feature any game has and critiquing it in game and you know damn well some are going to want to burn you at the stake. I see it all the time in these games.

Welcome to MMORPG.com, as a "Spotlight Poster" you should be concerned with creating relevant discussion not padding your post count with this nonsense.
No one cares and if you are truly so concerned about the reputation and "feelings" of GW2 and people "hurting" the game, you wouldn't post this troll bait nonsense and CONTINUE adding to the problem, not doing anything to help "fix" it (but that is all you apparently are capable of posting.)
The real solution? Ignoring threads like this. Talking about the GAME on the game's specific forums not talking about the forums themselves or players or reputation or whatever other nonsense garbage is filling up this website.
I've been on MMORPG.com for a long, long time. This community has become ridiculous where a post like this and a poster like this could be "Spotlighted" for this kind of nonsensical drivel.
Let's talk about games and what we like/dislike about them in a civil, constructive, friendly manner.
Let's stop talking about gamers and forums and talk about the GAMES.
You say nothing when people spam the forum with "Why are people so angry about the 'Success' of GW2?" when it is utterly subjective & is essentially baiting anti-fanbois.
You say nothing when people are outright flaming others for having bad experiences in GW2, and then asking questions about specific mechanics (ie: Dynamic Events not being Dynamic).
Then when someone makes a thread asking everyone to calm down you outright attack them?
Hypocrisy much?
Also, to say that this sort of over-hyped fanboism is "normal" for this forum is disingenuous at best. Even when SWTOR was about to release it was never this bad from my perspective. Was your post REALLY needed?

Actually in RIFT people complained about how "static" Rifts actually were and got a general response of "well it's better than WoW" rather than being flamed.
In TERA when people complained about the linear nature of leveling via quests you got back "Well the combat is a lot more fun than previous MMOs!".
In Aion when people complained about how flying was temporary fluff because it had a timer on it, and you couldn't fly in MOST of the game (including dungeons) you got back comments like "Well wait until end-game when you can fly around tons in pvp!".
In GW2 when people complain about DE's being non-Dynamic you get "Go back to WoW you damn troll!", or "You have no idea what you're talking about, get out of /map or stop playing!".

claiming DEs are not dynamic is just as subjective as saying this game sucks
both are negative statements and will cause a fuss
sub·jec·tive:
Adjective: "Based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions."
Claiming DE's aren't "Dynamic" is not subjective. Dynamic means it changes based on user interaction, and the outcome is different than the last interaction. DE's literally repeat over and over, and generally only have two outcomes that are directly linear scripted events. If the centaurs win camp X becomes centaur controlled. A "DE" then starts after Y amount of time so players can retake said camp. Event Z for camp X will then repeat over and over only giving camp X a win/loss outcome.
Go to Kessex Hills and do the event-chain of centaurs. It constantly repeats in a circle from Bridge-Fights -> Centaur Camp -> Centaur Lord over and over and over with zero impact or alternative outcome. The "off-shoot" tower camp to the west comes on as an alternative to the bridge over a given set amount of time, and not based on any other event other than maybe hearts being completed around it in order to trigger it (ie: 5-10 people complete hearts, and then that event spawns).
This is NOT Dynamic at all, it is linear scripting with 2-3 outcomes that never change.
Something "Subjective" would be saying GW2's PVE is the best of any MMO that has ever released.
The Theory of Conservative Conservation of Ignorant Stupidity: Having a different opinion must mean you're a troll.
I don't know where these Feral Fanbois are coming from as I never had to deal with them this badly for even SWTOR. Quite frankly, I've been surprised to see all over these forums about how people are annoyed if not almost completely turned off by the rabid flaming of anything non-GW2, and how GW2 is being pushed to new heights of outlandish fanboism. It is REALLY pissing off normal GW2 fans, because when you rabidly fanboy all over GW2 you make the normal players whom are just trying to enjoy the game look bad, or at least that's how i've been reading they feel?
Now, I'll say this to put it out there. I'm not a "Fan" of GW2, but I did purchase it for $60, and do believe it is one of the best themeparks I've played. However, I know what GW2 is, and is not. So I won't go any further with it than that.
From my experience with previously overhyped titles I've had to deal with people calling me a "Hater" and an outright "Troll" because I said things like SWTOR being horribly linear, zero replayability, sub-par end-game, and a host of other straight-to-the-point statements. Ironically months later I see everything I was saying pre-release echoed throughout these forums.
Then, for GW2, I was flamed outright for calling "Dynamic Events" NOT "Dynamic" and more akin to static repeated branching SCRIPTED events. Not only was I flamed, but I experienced something I hadn't before with SWTOR. I was actually being contacted off this site by my personal email being asked to stop "Spouting nonsense you have no clue about" with regards to GW2 (I didn't even know my personal email was listed under my profile on here?).
Regardless, albeit longer than I originally wanted, my point is that you NEED to stop going crazy with this over-the-top fanboism. You're making the normal players who're just trying to enjoy GW2 for what it is, and you're hurting GW2 as a whole in the long term.
Please
Good luck with that... Seems there is no stopping these people...

That wasn't my experience in Rift or Aion at all. It usually ended up in a flame fest. Although Rift was a lot better than Aion.
Aion was simply awful after launch. I think the only thing players for the most part were unified about was the spam and bot issues that were occurring.
Never played TERA.

It is also extremely easy to avoid fanboys - just avoid forums.
Like it is easy to avoid haters - just avoid forums.

This is the overall issue I'm trying to point out and bring to the surface for more discussions on. Granted, that discussion might not happen in this thread as it is most likely going to anger some people.
However, the point needs to be made that it is an apparent issue. I will agree BadSpock is trying to be objective about the issue, but he failed on multiple levels simply because he's turning a blind eye to these over-hyped threads while attacking ones trying to bring an issue to light.
Maybe it's how I approached the issue as I'm told I can be too "direct" for some people on these forums. However, it still is an issue and I don't see how ignoring it can make it better.

There was a good general laugh at him/her, as he/she went on saying anet had to halt sales cause they couldn't sell the game, etc.

Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders
i saw plenty of "go back to WOW" statements in RIFT - to people disliking RIFTs
the other games i didnt try; so no comment

This forum has turned to a shithole. No threads are made for discussing the game. No, it's another thread about the same shit.

3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
@ Nadia
A++ EXCELLENT POST. WILL READ AGAIN.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Having a different opinion must mean you're a troll.
Quite frankly....99.9% of all folks wouldn't even come to a site like this and I'm sorry to say your opinion or my opinon have 0% effect on true GW2 fans and to tell you the truth I don't give a flying fiddler's f==k about a lecture from you .Posts like this just make me think of some butt-hurt attention seeker with nothing to say looking to be the centre of attention...the I'm more noble then you card wears out real fast
