I think the problem is that I have clocked over 100+ hours on this game already .

If I went back to the same amount of hours that you currently have played ( guessing ) I probably thought the game was ok too and not a failure ,  but once you hit the meat / juice of the game you begin to see it's failing which are only obvious if you have played in a high end raiding guild in WOW for example .

Suffice to say the PvE in GW2 is badly done.

100+ hours in this game? I doubt you have, because then your post makes no sense since you played past the frist few levels. And even if you begrungly pushed your way to do the other levels past the frist few, you still at least got price value of the game. So honestly I don't really see your point. You played past the lifetime of most B2P games, yet your complaining that it was a failure? Contradict yourself more.

Regardless, neither this game nor diablo 3 was a failure. Did diablo 3 fail to keep its playerbase after a period, sure, but they got the money they wanted out of players and players got to play up to inferno and probably played past the lifetime of a typical RPG thats B2P, so IMO thats not failing. So it wasn't what the croud wanted long term, be glad you didn't pay a subscription and get over yourself.

Oh and BTW, if you are basing your financial defecit on this website, your even stupider than you come off as, since the consumer can never blame the buyer for anything unless they failed to deliver on promised specifications, which this game didn't do. Thus, it's your own fault for buying the game and expecting it to be what you hoped it would be, not anyone else. Congrats, you just wasted 50$ and 100 hours if you want to look at it that way. Next time make your own financial decisions instead of following the croud, you got a brain don't you?

I have a brain. After playing the beta I didn't buy release because the game sucks. For whatever reason however, even though nary a damn thing changed in the actual practice of gameplay between beta and release, my opinions posted on this site are denigrated since I didn't buy release, which is foolish. I feel those people are jealous I still have my $60,

On the topic of "why shouldn't I follow hype", I submit to you the immortal words of the great philosopher George Carlin...

So you don't like the game. I guess that means that everyone else who does like it is stupid and are jealous that you still have 60 dollars that you will no doubt waste on some other disappointment...

You may not like it, ok. Thats acceptable. Atleast I won't have the displeasure of playing with you, but no need to insult poeple. I'm sure if I lurked around the forums for your favorite game and said the same thing you'd be fairly upset. Even if it wasn't directed solely at you.

"People who like this bland game are, in the words of Niki Minaj, stupid stupid. Yall must be jelly that I don't enjoy you game and now have nothing to play because no game will ever satisfy me!" Geez you sound like my aunt who thought no man could please her.....until she met my uncle. Seems everyone is proven wrong at some point.

You may need some guidance. Here is a short article you may want to read. GW2 isn't about just getting to level 80 as many folks have said. There is so much to do, and not to beat a dead horse again, but you can't play this like WoW.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

The game is such a failure that almost every server is high pop.

    /facepalm

Most people bitching about GW2 are either butthurt fans of other games or MMO vets who trash talk EVERY game because they are looking for a replacement for their shitty lives and not just a fun game to play.

This game never was going to have WoW style end game raiding, a person must be a complete idiot to buy the game and expect that, considering even the devs have said there's no WoW endgame here to be had.

And thank god it's not there, if something ruins a MMOrpg it's these isolated instanced dungeons where only a small group grinds them for gear two months just to grind the next one, and next one, and next one... The most pointless "end game" that players are being forced and brainwashed to do... Why create a huge open world and then stuck people into these small holes for the rest of the days.

I thought they might think you a liar so I just grabbed this. Everywhere I go in the huge world there is someone else enjoying themselves. The OP has his own opinion, but hundreds of thousands of folks would disagree. :)

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

I agree, though the "shitty lives" part could have been omitted and replaced with "shitty older games". Like the guys that cling to EQ1 or UO or WAR, etc. I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but those games are not this game and if you enjoyed them so much why don't you just play them instead of looking for something exactly like it with prettier colours. Get all your close friends together and play it from time to time. It doesn't have to be your main MMO, but it may be nice to delve back into that nastalgic scenery again to get those feelings out. Though I've found that going back to older games from a newer one tends to bring it's short comings to light. People talk about these older games as if they were the same exact thing as todays games, with better features, better mechanics, better systems, better server populations, and overall just better games.

If you want a good example of this play GW2 and then go back and play GW1. Then you'll realize how even basic features that are missing will stand out. Like not being able to jump, or no global/cross-server market system, no open world. Even minor things like not being able to rebind certain keys, or the camera not being as intelligent, having to click on an NPC as apposed to just pressing F(or tab in my case) when you're next to them. Then you realize. Oh yeah, I remember these games! They were great...in their day. But now they're old and it's time for them to retire.

That's the beauty of the b2p model. They only ever have to announce sales.

Not sure what you were reading here. Just because you don't like her sig or niki minaj reference, doesn't mean it had no purpose.

And when you state the highlighted, after saying you have a brain and that clearly that anyone without one bought the game, and not because they enjoyed it instead. Then the post on the follow the hype video is insulting in itself for eveyrone who bought the game regardless of it being hyped...

So pretty sure that comment sums up quite nicely to 5, sir. I think you need to check you math over because just because you don't like her approach at it, doesn't make her answer any less right.

Rift was actually the only game ive played in the last 5 years worth playing .

You can express your opinion just fine. But you make claims that are a bit out there and therefore hard to take.

first of all, though I would say that this game still has to run a bit before we know it's a "success". 2 million sales says that 2 million people were into the game, curious, etc. We still need to see how long it takes before people lose interest or whether the game grows. However,  I would also say the same in  that there is not one iota of evidnce that this is a "failed game".  Nothing has failed about it yet. You might not like it (which is fine) but it hasn't run long enough to say it's a failure. In the short term it's actually a success.

WoW clone? Really? Because at this point I have to call trolling. it's a theme park sure but not even remotely a WoW clone. So either you are trolling or you actually have never played the game.

I agree, your thread does nothing to really further a discussion

Yes  GW2 needs some improvments, but its the nature of MMOs, they are like wine , they take time to get great, sadly most ppl play 2 weeks and then say OMG this game dosnt offer everything WOW has...well obviously not, when a game has had 10 years and 5 trillion dollars to mature.

Shame really cause there has been some great mmos in the past, I only quit cause no one to play with , since they didnt want to stick around.

best part of GW2 is no sub, so hopefully 6 months down the road when this game doubles in fun, the servers will still be busy, and WvWvW will be enjoyable , and have some great end game content...

but im only level 35 right now , and loving alts, so no hurry for end game content for me, but hope it does come soon.

Don't pigeon-hole me because of your defensiveness. The issue debated, if you follow the thread is "let the buyer beware", not "whatever you choose it to be" so you can "rail people who don't like things you like". I found I didn't like it. I used common sense to not buy it.  In a seperate paragraph or "On another note", in other words "in a relatively unrelated issue", you shouldn't follow hype.

Further, I reserve the right to form opinions on the validity of other opinions based on presented reference to pop-culture.

I don't know how else i can put it .How can you debate something perfect and flawless? is it even possible?  i have played 300 hours since launch day and i couldn't find one flaw in GW2. it is as if this brilliant peice of entertainment is out of this world. Ok, thanks for clearing up the sarcasim question I had.  The "flawless" part is a good cue; made it so easy that even a caveman could do it. :D

Edit:  And if was sarcasm that my meter didn't detect, I appologize.

It is not debatable because GW2 is the best. I don't know how else i can put it .How can you debate something perfect and flawless? is it even possible?  i have played 300 hours since launch day and i couldn't find one flaw in GW2. it is as if this brilliant peice of entertainment is out of this world. It blows my mind.

This reeks of trolling alt account with 7 posts.

I'm taking it as sarcasm and/or performance art.

Ummm you are welcome kind sir..even though i don't know why you are thanking me. I am just full of glee and thankful that i got an oppertunity to play GW2. I just want to share my happiness with everyone.

I was just thanking you because you answered my question with an even more satirical post thus enlightening me about your previous post as to whether or not it was sarcasm (satire would have probably been a better term than sarcasm).

I really wouldn't care what you said because you reference "gangnam style", "Niki Minaj" and lied and said I insulted people for liking GW2. Clearly I said not to "follow hype because people are stupid".  You put the rest of the 2+3=6 together.

    Highlighted = related...

Which has no basis of the actual validity of someones post. But regardless.

OP is ignorant to facts. The game has plenty of them, all being true. I stated quite clearly that the game is not hype, but you ignore that. Maybe the game was far too popular on these forums, but there was no misinformation or things that the devs promised that didn't come true.

I don't care that you don't like the game. The game isn't for everyone. But it doesn't change the fact that:

    1. Poster blames the community for his shitty financial decision.

    2. Poster puts plenty of hours into a game he considers a fail, but never has to pay past the original purchase price.

    3. Poster shows ignorance and lack of actual thought process when buying game if he went purely off of what others said and not his own precieved notions.

So, I'm pretty sure that I covered that quite well in my previous post but you failed to get the points so I mapped them out for you clearly. Also, when you jump on other people's posts for validity, don't expect to not get jumped on yourself, aka don't throw shit if you don't want any back.

What the hell are you on about? You're arguing the same thing I am and insulting me in the process...

... except one point. "Hype" isn't specifically "false advertising"; it IS how much the game is "talked up" or how popular it is.

Most people bitching about GW2 are either butthurt fans of other games or MMO vets who trash talk EVERY game because they are looking for a replacement for their shitty lives and not just a fun game to play.

I thought they might think you a liar so I just grabbed this. Everywhere I go in the huge world there is someone else enjoying themselves. The OP has his own opinion, but hundreds of thousands of folks would disagree. :)

    edit: added SS

Great picture, unless you scroll down to the end of the list and see all the servers showing medium.  :sigh:

All you are proving is that we are actually on the same server.

Eggy, you said, "Congrats, you just wasted 50$ and 100 hours if you want to look at it that way. Next time make your own financial decisions instead of following the croud, you got a brain don't you?"

To which I replied, "I have a brain. After playing the beta I didn't buy release because the game sucks. and further, don't buy into hype.

It's cut and dry. You people need to settle down.

youre still ignoring your own words. Simplay stating I have a brain is to say that anyone who didn't do what you did must not have a brain. The rest highlighted in red has ben outlined for you before. If you can't understand that, then you must not have a  brain.....HA! See what I did there? ;-)
