Cause thats basically what this games chat has become. spam spam spam. And what has ANET done about it? Aparently nothing!
Part of me wonders if ANET isnt behind the gold spam...........

As for dealing with it... I have no doubt they will v soon, seeing as their entire business model relies on gems.
In the meantime, it's super easy to block. I don't get the drama myself.
They are banning all those hacked accounts

This has not been my experience. My experience:
I see a gold spammer; report gold spammer; never see that character name again.

I think it would take a very brave man to buy farmed gold in this game tbh... I can see a mass banning wave very soon.
The fact that gold = gems and gems = ANet's entire ongoing income means they will come down hard I expect.
I also expect that the forums at that time will be full of the gnashing and wailing of the 'innocent' :P
They aren't banning any gold spammers yet. I've seen the same ones for over a week now.. I report the same ones everyday. I even saw an Anet employee hanging out with a group of people chatting and dancing. I asked him if he was going to ban that guy or get someone to do it and his only response was "Sorry".

Wait, you mean a new game on the market has gold spam for the first few weeks!? THIS IS MADNESS! No other game in history has ever had gold spam Arenanet needs to step their game up, big time!

I've never heard so much BS in my life! Man, please get your things straight.
First off, ANet is known to ban cheaters (gold buyers/sellers, botters and exploiters) since the start of GW1. So Anet is the last to sell gold themselfs. Not to mention, buying gold from goldsellers is (aside from being a violation of the EULA) more expensive than buying gems from ANet and sell on the trading post...
Secondly, ANet is busy fighting the goldsellers (spammers). For instance, when you hear one yelling in /Map, you can simply right-click the name and use REPORT. If you get mail, you now also have a REPORT option.
So yeah, ANet is busy trying to get rid of these goldsellers. Only down side is that these goldsellers use 'hacked' (READ: stolen) accounts, so banning these spammers will involve banning 'innocent' players as well...

Gotto love when people go through post histories of other people to put them down. He didn't bash the game by the way. He is talking about gold spam not saying GW2 sucks or fail etc etc.

That said, yeah the gold sellers have been having a little orgy the last day or so. Chat spam, emails, and seeing a ton of naked botters running from gathering node to gathering node. Hopefully A-net is working to squeltch the annoying little bastards.

It is a good thing that resource nodes are not shared, or the little vien on my forehead would have popped by now. Just out of lion's arch i saw two naked mesmers collecting resorces in avery precise manner.
I wanted to report them but then i thought hey what if they are just naturalists?
Just start reporting them dam it. I play on Blacktide. Our guild always do one thing:
1. When we see gold seller on map chat - right click on him -> report (spamming) + right click > block.
2. When someone was getting PM spam, before patch we whisper character and report him and today we can report PM messages. Then we block him.
AND WE ALWAYS PUT INFO ON MAP CHAT THAT WE REPORTED PLAYER X FOR SPAMMING.
Effect ? For last few days on Blacktide I don't see gold spammers. And since PM reporting is ONLINE I don't have PM gold spam. What ANet doing with this ? They block accounts obviously. Each spammer is +60 euro for ANet and it's last time they were taking server resources by playing :P More cake for you. You should be gratefull that they support your game this way.
So what YOU should do ?
~ report players and block
~ say in map chat that you reported someone
~ always report - always
E.g. you don't see them in tsw, you didn't see them in coh either.
Our server has taken the unusual step of spam flooding gold sellers with happy pm's like "love you" or "your so cute i could just eat you up" etc.
Not a solution, but it's amusing everytime a gold spammer comes on someone yells "LOVE IN!!" and the pm's begin

Bans for gold selling happens in waves. It simply easier and more cost effecitve to do it that way.
And ANET's busniess modle is reliant on the gold to gem stock trade, it'll be reliant on future B2P content updates.

At Blizzard. Other MMOs do it differently. And Blizzard's way sucks as too many innocents suffer in the corrupted markets until they get off their ***es and do something about it.

Yes, he did. It's part of a campaign by a troll to put the game down. Context, which includes the users history of making BS claims, is relevent. Just like a person's criminal history is relevent in a assessing his current professed innocence or guilt.
On my server it is also becoming worse.
Report them (and block them if you feel like). In GW2 toons from the same account are linked, so only one toon has to be reported for goldselling for an account ban. It is 3 clicks, rightclick the name in chat, chose report, chose scamming in pulldown menu and ok. Oh that is 4 clicks, oh well. But that's it!
If you ever considered buying gold from one of those vague websites. Don't even visit their website! If there is one type of website that would actively try to infect your pc, it is this kind of website. Why? Because they have no reputation to openly protect as there is no website where goldselling websites are compared to each other. So any advantage they can get over you, is pure win for them. This also means trying to infect your pc with information stealing trojans. It is not as if any infected user would complain somewhere openly about how their pc became infected.
I also suspect that many accounts that are used for the goldselling are accounts that are given by players for 'power leveling' (lol). So with reporting those, you are not only fighting goldsellers, but maybe also the retarded ppl who willingly give out their account info to them or were infected by a trojan. So you are maybe also fighting the demand for those scammers.
