MMORPG last night deleted a thread in which I sought advice from other players on what game they might suggest I would enjoy playing until November, when Darkfall Unholy Wars comes out.
The thread had some polite suggestions from others, and set out what I want from a game. There is no point with someone suggesting "Rift" if that game would never fit with my MMO play preferences.
Low and behold, my thread and more importantly all the feedback is gone today with the email message deleted as spam and nonsensical repeated posts.
Pardon? Sorry MMORPG, but to me this looks like you are censoring any reference to games that are not paying you to advertise. I see lots of repetitive rubbish threads about WoW and pandas, and oh look, pretty adverts from Blizzard. Not good enough - either let people actually discuss things, or admit that what in 2007 was a great gaming resource is today nothing more than a paid ad, independent games will be banished to subforms you can't find or deleted out of the Pub.
Maybe the logic of subforums has totally overwhelemd MMORPG ... you can't ask for people to suggest a game to play using only one-game forums. So basically yah, learn to read, and give back my post please - unless of course my impression that MMORPG really is practicing commercially biased censorship is correct.
Your thoughts? Has anyone else noticed questions and discussions about games other than the ones who pay to advertise here vanishing out of the pub? And if this is just a big ad for WOW now, where is a good place to find info on games I don't already know about? Thx.

no.
Just about every mmo that has ever existed has its own subforum here. You think a site that deletes non advertised game posts would have that?
This site has had advertising from Rift in the past and I see no reason to think they will not have more in the future. I saw your post about DF, not sure if thats the same one? if so I can see it being put in DF forum. I do think they overeact to such threads, but eventually they do need to go into the right forum. So it is just a question of how long before they get moved.
Deletion sounds like over doing it, but I may not be even talking about the same thread, so bare that in mind.

Well this wont exist for long. Yes, if you come here to post you have to suck it up that half of our threads will get deleted. It's like living in a Communist country. You know you are going to get the shaft but hay, you learn to cook and clean anyway until someone shoots you dead. What else is there to do? For some reason when no one has a game home they end up on these forums. Anyway, THE PUB is the most edited, with supposed less moderation on other sections of these forums.
Oh, yeah, and rarely they even MOVE our threads.
Your first version of the thread was either made in, or moved to the correct forum, and it can be found here: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/365598/Why-I-will-be-buying-playing-Unholy-Wars.html
As you can see it is still open and free for discussion.
You made a second almost identical thread in the Pub. We have subforums for specific games for a reason, and since the thread already existed in the correct spot, I deleted the copy. Its not censorship, its just trying to keep a tidy forum. Please use the first thread linked above to continue your discussion of the game.
I am however locking this thread because its discussing specific moderator action. If you wish to discuss moderation policy in general then I suggest popping into the Site Suggestions forum or getting in contact with MikeB at mikeb@mmorpg.com
