The mandatory armor color change in sPvP is something that I find rather frustrating.
I don't mind the sPvP itself, in fact the more I get into it the more I enjoy it - but I do hate the fact that I always have to be wearing a glaring red or blue armor set.
With rewards being cool item skins or dyes to customize your armor, it is rather pointless to have all that taken away when you go into sPvP itself.
The only place you get to see your character the way you want him to be is in the Mists, but once you get into action your customization is removed.
Red names over an enemy are a standard in almost every game, and I think that you really don't need to paint an entire person to know that he's not on your team.
Besides, if I'm not mistaken in WvW you see the enemy team as red while you see yourself and your team in their original colors.
Why not implement that in sPvP?
The only reason that comes to mind is that sPvP is much faster paced and people switch teams often, so...uhm, I guess in order for someone not to get confused whose side he's on this round they put in a constant reminder...in the form of you glowing your team colors all the way.
I don't think this is a...valid reason.
Either way, there has to be a better solution than painting your entire character red/blue.

I wish they would let us dye our own Blue and Red Armor set. Blue armor set could use Purple, Blue and Green Hues while Red armor set could use Yellow, Red and Orange Hues. There are so many shades of these colors, it sucks to be stuck at only red and blue.
You would have to have a system that requires a certain amount of boxes to be a color or you'd be back in the default red/blue armor set. I think this could help add diversity and personalization into spvp.
I kind of like this idea.
Something I had in mind was to allow you to change all but the primary color on any armor to any color other than red or blue. The primary color of each piece of armor will always be your team color.
In TF2 you can paint hats many different colors, but special paints (which will change with your team color) are required to paint anything red or blue.
