Here's the meat:
"Bethesda Softworks announced today the opening of Battlecry Studios, headed by ex-BioWare staffer Rich Vogel. Vogel was a huge part of the development of Star Wars: The Old Republic in his role as executive producer, but left the company ahead of a large round of layoffs from the MMO development team. His previous works include Star Wars: Galaxies and Ultima Online, but no project has yet been announced for Battlecry."

Well I'm excited that he worked on SWG and UO but not so much that he worked on SWTOR. Hopefully he will learn from past mistakes and not repeat them. I'll be keeping an eye out to see what may develop from this new company. Hopefully it will be better than the DAOC II with an Elder Scrolls paint job that Zenimax Online is planning but I won't hold my breath. It seems that whenever Zenimax strays from the core development team at Bethesda Softworks all that comes of it is crap. It could possibly be Fallout Online now that they own the MMO rights but we'll have to wait and see.

If only, that would be awesome. But they're not cloning DAoC. They're cloning WoW. They're talking about quests and instances and phasing, NONE of which were in DAoC when it was good.
Dude just because he worked on SWTOR doesn't mean he sucks. There was a lot of things invloved in why SWTOR was a failure much of which I believe had more to do with EA execs then anything else. Anyways point is development is made of lots of things not just one guy and SWTOR had some cool concepts that it brought to the MMO world.
I can't think of any.
... And where exactly did I say he sucks? I just said it was worrisome at best since this was his last endeavor. SWTOR was about as on rails as a game could be. Even space combat is on rails in that game. A Fallout MMO should be as far from on rails as a MMO can be. I never said he sucked I just implied that he may not be the best person for the job unless he falls back on his earlier experience with SWG and UO.

SWTOR was created mostly by vetreans from Ultima Online, Everquest and other MMO's Rich Vogel was one of the EP's of SWTOR aswell, SWTOR wasnt as bad s people claim or even think it was, it got tons of backlash from people expecting somthing complelty different half the posts on the forums were about SWTOR being not as good as SWG even tho it was a completly different type of game, and the other half complaining that PVP was not as good as what WoW had.
if SWTOR was released in 2005, or even in 2010 it would've been much more successfull, no ex SWG flamers, and better chance to compete with WoW.
Well that may be true but again my point was missed totally. I never said SWTOR is a bad game just that it's not the sort of game a Fallout MMO should be. What I said about learning from past mistakes I was more referring to the NGE and Trammel than SWTOR anyways although that would be part of it as well. All of his past games made mistakes no matter how great they may have been otherwise.

Well yes, but it's odd that you say your are excited that he worked on UO, and SWG when he was the EXECUTIVE PRODUCER from Bioware on SWTOR which is a much higher profile role than what he did on UO and SWG.
If you did not like SWTOR as a game you should not be excited that pretty much the most important shot caller in the development cycle of the game is the same guy
It's a though cookie.
The higher-ups who hire guys like him need:
1. Someone who can get Projects done, and shipped. The more expirienced the better.
The Market is filled with people who have shipped successfully (but not necessary successfull as a product).
Because this is about money buisness not about creating games. you can't expect those higher-ups to actually have every played said mmos, e.v.e.r. What they see is 2.4 M sold MMO with him as Exe producer.
Now who do you take to get your pipe dream MMO out?
1. The guy with zero experience
2. The guy with more experience (and not so good long term numbers which are totally not his fault *cough*)
