I am kind of stoked for this game and even though I love GW2 I have found myself not playing much lately because of certain issues I have with the game, Well not to go off on a tangent, I loved DayZ and I am looking forward to a game with more actual killing of zombies then skipping and sneaking around them.

I too will be playing on the 15th.
It's kind of ironic to be excited all weekend for MONDAY. >_<
Same.
Sounds like it'll be very sandboxy.
Free to play = content updates for the cash shop. Buy to play = content updates for the cash shop.
Subscription = Actual content updates!
Ordered my Legend copy. Glad something will be out to hold my interest it has been hard to log into GW2. Gonna be playing with 3 other people so it is always fun. Yea I loved DayZ too. However it sucked that zombies could come through closed doors and walls from time to time on you. At least they say The War Z you can close the door and they cannot get in. Here is to hoping right lol.
I remember my friend and I were in a small house and got stuck in the dining area. We attracted about every zombie in the server it seemed we could not get out of the house. We fired and fired killing zombies and more kept coming into the door. They broke my friends leg and started to eat him I still could not get out. I tried saving him I blasted more zombies and even more came then alas click click oh shit I am out of bullets. I had 87 zombie kills from being stuck in there and my friend 62 hah it was good times. At least we got our stuff back after just no bullets.
Thats a really good question. i dont think there is a wipe.. but who knows
the warZ faq says that there wont be a wipe on the 31st, as to the second part about always being able to play after 31'st i havent seen any info on
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
I get the feeling we'll be able to play whenever we want, except for when the servers come down for patching and stuff.
I'm not saying this negatively, but I really feel like the alpha access is more of an early release and beta actual launch. I know, technically, it's whatever they consider it. It's just that I have a feeling that up until the 31st it's probably going to feel very much like GW2's recent launch.
Buy to play, early access with no working store or AH, was GW 2 and it's pretty much the same thing here. I don't mind either. I'll be happy to play for a couple of months while they expand the game to a launch worthy level.
Especially with no character wipes? Hell yeah, sounds good to me.
Let me DL the damn client now!!!!1
Everyone knows this IS NOT the forthcoming stand alone version of Day Z, right? This is another game with a similar name.
Just want to make sure, because I've seen a lot of confusion on that lately....
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
To answer a previous question. In the FAQ for WarZ, it states that alpha will not wipe on the 31st. You will retain all of your gear until beta very likely, or until they release a patch or content that will alter the items that you have collected or how you obtain them. You know, so as to keep the balance of the game world intact.
I will be playing on the 15th. Well, working second shift may push that back. Either way, I will be playing as soon as I can download and install it. Here's hoping to a good time, and preferrably after all of the launch failures are out of the way.
From http://thewarz.com/download.html :
Game client will be available for download October 15th
No download link yet but, then again, they didn't say which year.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Site seems rather slow right now, possibly because of all the F5 keys that are taking a beating on countless gamer keyboards right now.

It used to be betas were free, then peeps starting paying for them. Now they're charging to play alpha?
To me this screams of cash flow issue. You might as well call it a kick starter project which is fine. Some of their ideas are awesome, but some are like...wtf. So naaa, I'm not going to throw money at a game that may or may not ever even see release.
Sure, it's not that much money, but then on the other hand I can buy a finished game off of steam for the same price. But by all means, pay to alpha. I'm sure they could use the money and if it gives you enjoyment, why not.
