MMO you hate the most because of the fans

Mine: Dark Age of Camelot

I tried playing it years back (before WoW came out). Hated it for it's inferior graphics and lack of direction.

The fans always talk about how great it's PvP was, I always found it incredibly boring. Most likely, though, because I'm heavily into true skill based PVP games (CS1.6, SC and others back then).

How 'bout you guys?

WoW gamers that never give other MMOs a fair shake has always been a solid.

More recently I'd have to say the real hardcore GW2 is BEST OR DIE.

Why would I hate MMOs because of fans?  That's why you have ignore option...

Edit. Ok if I have to choose it would be SWG..... I hate that it's dead.

While I am not a fan of the average WoW fan they are still a step above the MMORPG.com forums posting crowd.  IF this site was an MMO or better yet if everyone on these forums played the same MMO, it would easily have the worst community of all time, I would even say it would make Barrens Chat look like Sunday Church.

Every new mmo beta you get these guys wanting to make it a raid raid raid game, strip out all pvp and make it a grindy old boring chore for everyobe except them.

for a long time it has been EVE. Great game but so much of the community is very ruthless. If you broach the topic of the game being to pvp or to hard in general you usually get back something close to you not deserving to survive or you need to just grow thicker skin.

But more recently I have come to loath the GW2 community. At least in the forums, either here or there. It is very similar. If you don't like how combat plays then you must just suck and you need to learn to play it right. There are a lot who assume that if you don't think it is great then the problem is with you not the game. And here I though maybe it was just a preference.

the wow community is just childish and bratty. Kind of a Lord of the Flies Online.

But... DAoC's graphics were top of the industry back then. I.. don't understand.

 

Anyway, my answer is WoW. Simply because they assume that WoW is the only thing that ever existed and the only thing that should exist. They also like to pretend that WoW was hardcore and not a casual game.

I don't hate any due to it's fans, starting to lean toward TSW though but even then it's more pity than anything. Their game was a bust so you see them on other forums trying to talk it up and bash other games lol. It's a little sad.

Hating a game because of it s fans is pretty dumb IMO. Probably because its just a huge generalization and those are always wrong.

To put a postitive spin on the quesiton, I actually like LotRO a lot in a large part because of its great commmunity.

I wouldn't hate a game because of its fans. I'm playing mainly for the game content.

I can jump in on that. I liked UO a great deal more than I should have due to the community. Same for FFXI and EQOA. 

 

A game I couldn't get into but respected due to it's community was CoH. I tried many times to like the game simply because it had a great community. 

 

Same with SWG, I never really like the game. It did have some things I liked about it but not enough for me to stay, but I stayed as long as I did because of the community.

It's funny, because as ok as the community it is now, it was about 100 times better in beta, before Turbine ruined the game. The majority of established Kinships left and broke apart then. There used to be huge yearly organizations/parties with scavenger hunts, and rafles for movie props, it was awesome.

Guild Wars 2, the majority of those people suck. Plus all the super hardcore "fans", they get under my skin.

Its shocking how people can be elitist about a casual game, but WOW fans manage it. Doesn't help that the raiding system is awful and designed to encourage it.

I was going to say, I don't hate any MMO. I strongly dislike people pushing their beliefs on me.  Be it MMO, religion, political ideology, etc.
