Does Rift has a healthy population?
Hey.
A bit information of my history with Trion's MMO Rift.
I started playing in the beta, and I really enjoyed the game. When it realesed I did a 72 hour marathon and was one of the first on my server back then, to reach 50. I really enjoyed the game.
I then played it for a few months (4 or 5 I think) before I eventually quit due to my addiction to WoW (Yeah I know.. And because my friends were begging me to play WoW again and stop playing that BAD game Rift... *cough*). Since then, after I left, I have played on and off for a months time or more since.
Now I have been away for some time, and I'm well..Getting tired of all the new hyped up bad MMOs (and WoW which is my current MMO, I got caught in the anual pass and got a few months left on that but thats that) . That's why I'm thinking of returning in the time of the new expansion, since it sounds awesome (and NICE HOUSING!!).
Is it still worth it? Is the population healthy and stable( I do not want to return if every server is DEAD. I'm from Europe).
I love Trion. They release content like mad. Thats what I love about them.
But my reasons not for just subbing now is that I'm unsure if the population is healthy enough or that I have been away for too long and missed out on too much?
Well I hope to get some constructive answers

The servers are certainly alive and kicking. I've been playing since release and not seen any drop in the level of activity. The game feels alive now as it did at release. They have been some nice changes along the way and yep, I'm looking for to the housing. Best I've seen in any game. And I've played a lot of mmo's over the last 16 years of online gaming. For me Rift is the best I've played and Trion is being very active in making it larger and better. Heck, I think I may have become a fanboy
Anyway, the servers are alive with lots of players about. And btw, I'm on the European (English) servers.
Icewatch is always active, theres always groups and things to do, Blightweald has a decent population aswell, and things only seem to be getting better, theres a stable and healthy population, and Storm Legion is sure to bring some people back and hopefully bring in some new blood aswell.
Right now Tempest Rising World event is running which is the prelude to the expansion, and there was just a massive overhaul of pretty much all souls so everyone is getting used to new specs and finding new ways to optimize their class.
Its definatly a good time to be a Rift player, and Trion just keeps delivering. Personally I just picked up the 12 months sub deal where you get the expansion as a perk of subbing.

However, I cannot seem to find anywhere I can pre-order Storm Legion as a box? And no collecters edition ( i got the original collecters edition aswell)
This is in Denmark / EU
I just recently went back and I have to say that there are tons of people . I picked a server at 4am in the morning that said " Medium" population and come the afternoon it was bumping for sure.
Storm Legion is mostly a digital expansion, there are a few shops that will be selling it, the only one I can think of that is listed that has stores in Denmark (Danish myself) is Gamestop, but im not sure if they will have it outside US, I bought the digital version from Trion myself.
Alright thanks, that clear things up. as far as I can see, theres only a standard edition from retailers that can be upgraded.
Guess I will just get the digital then. (:
