Tough times for War Z

I have purchased the survivor package and honestly can not wait to get in the game and check it out but two bits of sad news have hit this week.

1. The audio from Rhinocruch that has a dev giving items to people in the game

2. The live stream today showing a guy using a hack tool to aimbot and wallhack

I'm not a fan of the corrupt dev team from MO and I quit playing APB due to the frequent hackers I would run into.  I sure hope that the War Z dev team steps in and addresses these issues here in Alpha.

Both of those are true, sadly.

I cant help but wonder how you will react when you find out everything else....

I still have hopes for the game. I cant say any more than that right now.

Well hacks were only a matter of time. They exist in virtually every game and shooters tend to be one of the easier game types to have them in. At the very least all the other elements will make it so they aren't 'as' free win with more means to stop it coming out later on.

Really, all we can do is watch and wait.

I may be in the minority, but my plan is to rent a private server at launch so me and a handfull of buddies can play, thus side stepping all the BS associtated with public servers,

There is no such thing as a corrupt GM in an Alpha, they can make people fly if they wanted to for christ sakes.  People, you are NOT playing a live release, the gameworlds will most likely be wiped nothing you are doing now matters.

And hacks?  Great have the hackers find the problems NOW so they can be fixed before launch, that is the exact purpose of the current build. I cant  belive people are treating this alpha test like the game is live.

trust me if there are hacks now, it will be way worse later. i have seen this in so many games its not even funny.  dont kid yourself and think they will catch the hacks early and put a stop to them. these guys are only fine tuneing their hacks getting ready for live, and every time the client updates they will be there updateing their hacks aswell.

The War Z team seems to have royally screwed themselves by trying to monetize this build. They truly underestimated the perception that comes with paying for something, even when the condition of the product or service is expressly stated.

Hell, even if every purchase included sending someone to the buyer's house to stamp "I'm playing an alpha build of an unfinished game" on their monitor in permanent ink, they would still have people complaining that the current build needs a lot of work. Rhinocrunch is a classic example of that. Not only can't he seem to figure out it's an alpha but he has turned his denial of the otherwise obvious and clearly stated into a raging vendetta against the devs and condescending attitude toward anyone willing to give it a chance.

I do not play this game but i watch my son playing War Z. He got some high  killing score and he didn't expirience one problem you describe here. I think that MMORPG should delete post like that because it is pure speculation

You are absolutely correct, all the videos below are just speculation and hacking does not exist in this game.  Thanks for setting us straight.

DayZ has nothing to fear from this title.

For point 2 I'm just going to throw out that there are hackers in every single game and there's absolutely nothing devs can do to stop them all.  That's multiplayer gaming for you.  Hopefully they have some safeguards in place but there are always going to be hackers.

You are a great man. This is the solution to most WarZ problems.

I am by no means a care-bear, extreme logs of hours in DayZ and EvE low sec have showed this, WarZ has great potential. Currently, I am very frusterated with it. It's not entirely the game--it's the community.

Game wise; First, I can't fresh spawn without running into another survivor within 15 seconds. Second, the map is insanely small. Reddit has show that before the halloween update, there were 10 loot locations through the map given in alpha. A server holds 40 players max, with a low server count making all of them greater than 18 players. I've rarely seen ones with less, though after a while they will exist. If evenly distributed; that's 3 players per loot location. Way too extreme.

Community wise; (personal experience may very, if you're lucky), out of my 50+ hours of play, I ran into 38 players who were hostile, one that was unarmed, and one that was friendly. I don't mind bandits, I seriously didn't in DayZ. What irks me is spawning in, seeing another player who chases me with a flashlight, beats me down, and tea bags my corpse. Best part? He doesn't even grab my loot. He didn't want to kill me for my beans (har, har), he wanted to play CoD.

    Interested gamers:

If you are going to play this game; please keep an extremely open mind. The developers have done well with content and patch updates so far. They arrive in a timely fashion and rarely spawn larger issues. I have faith that someday WarZ will be the game to play. Just bear in mind that it's still new, and it has it's issues. I hope anyone enjoys the game.

Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW.
    Playing - PS2, AoW, GW2

Yeah, sadly they don't have enough team members to fully test out their game, so they allowed us to test it for them. One day, a  mean ole Dev came onto their Alpha server to test out some weapons so he spawned things for a bunch people, knowing that there would be a wipe before the game launches in a few months.

Those darn dirty devs wanting to test things in their game.. :(

  • TalonsinTalonsin Member EpicPosts: 3,619

You should have been a politician the way you weaved such a spin on that.  If you actually listened to the audio, there was no testing going on.  It was his buddies asking for different weapons and shields.  A test is not spawning what your buddies ask for and then watching them shoot other players.

    3/10 for the effort thou

I dont like the aspect of the item spawning but its also alpha / beta and there will wipes between now and launch. Nice gear is an advantage but my group and I have taken out people with M16s with pistols and hammers.

All games have hackers DAYZ and WARZ both have them and sadly its just a plague thats going to be in any game thats out and about.

Both DAYZ and WARZ have their benefits and drawbacks. Both games will have a loyal following.

I think the spawning of items would be a hell of a lot more of an issue if it WERENT in alpha / beta and people didnt lose items damn near constantly.

The development team of The War Z intends to allow alpha players to keep collected goodies into the live release, so it is quite a problem. They are only still considering a wipe due to hacking and the like. There has been no official word on a wipe. They consider the act of not wiping inventory a bonus to pre-ordering. This isn't something I support personally, but I just thought the information should be out there.

Doesn't it use the engine (and art) from an existing game?  I have to assume the bots started there but since the game wasn't well known no one cared.  Sounds like a small budget game that's in over its head.

My forum account was banned without warning and "no explanation", all i did was ask a mod why a thread was deleted, i expected it to be closed with a mature response from a community manager, instead they banned me. Also, they are trying to fight my bank after i went through my bank to get a refund, lol.

This company has no idea about EU laws, also, a dev that boosts about he will use his admin powers? How can ANYONE take this company seriously?

Im getting a refund because this company is not even close to serious. The CEO calling people fag*ot and then going

"oh i didn't know what it meant, then doing an apology, and then going

"i dont see whats offensive about saying fag*ot, its like saying asshole, herp derp" effectively making his apology not sincere.

Look, even if you think fag*ot is not offensive its not something that should be said by anyone over 12 and especially not by a CEO of a company, that just shows how immature you are.

ALSO, its my consumer right to get a refund, it shows how retarded this company is trying to fight  the bank and being clueless about the EU law.

I advice everyone to stay away from this game, the devs are clearly immature and unprofessional. I will call my bank later today for an update, anyone from a EU country has a 14 day refund right for an "unshipped" product, dont listen to these developers trying to take you're money.

Also, despite all of the above this company has done, they also copied the whole terms of agreement from league of legends, hopefully they will be sued.

I am reading a ton of posts about Warz and this company, and now your reply to the op , all I gotta say is this company is piss poor, I agree with what your saying , they should be sued and have charges placed on them. Lets hope that a company like this goes belly up , because charging people I think I remember someone stating it was 55 bucks or something like that to play a beta and being corrupt and the CEO and admins insulting people just makes me mad we have people like that, I hope everyone save the hackers gets a refund and more so, hell the company should be giving you guys more than what you paid for just for the trouble and insults you poor people went through, I feel for you I really do, this shit has got to stop.
