i like what BW is doing with the F2P, they are listening the people and i think swtor could be stronger than GW2

Neither game is perfect but, imo, GW2 is better at being a mmo than SWTOR.

SWTOR is a MO, they have no Massive in their game. They'd have to redo the whole game.....which means 300 million dollars down the drain.

remember they will put world pvp (ilum) again in january with a new event

Did i just read that right? (rubs eyes) that BW is listening to the players on their F2P design?! HARDLY. Even hardcore supporters of the game have been complaining about their blatant greed grabs in this SOE-esc model they have going on.

And no, SWTOR Freemium model will never be better then GW2 B2P model because Freemiums are designed around one thing and one thing only, to force players to subscribe against their will.

You think the engine will handle the amount of players? I dont think so LOL. and that one planet is way too small. The biggest planet SWTOR has is tattoine but everything is quest hubbed and instanced, you think thats massive? LOL.

Is a main reason it didn't do as well as expected because it was p2p?

    Hmm..

    -  SWTOR's freemium model (nickle & diming) stronger than B2P?  Not likely.

you know BW put 1 quickslot bar in the begining for F2P players and they changed? and they changed 3 wz per week for 5?

    isn't that listen the people?

Your aren't getting the issue of the game. Obviously the game payment model isn't the issue. Its the game's engine and style. Please tell me your joking that you like this game because its 99 percent instanced and 1 percent open world.

When you even get the idea of limiting the freaking ui (with one bar the game was barely playable, hence why they had to change it) your automatically bottom tier terrible. I've played a lot of f2p mmo's but never have I seen an idea so shitty. What's next you can't tank if you don't subscribe.

Even if your a subscriber your limited. I spent more time on loading screens then actually being able to play the game. Yes I even have a high end PC for gaming and I run GW2 really well and Crysis 2 at max settings.

IMHO there is no comparison what so ever, no matter how you dress up a turd, it's still a turd. The foundation of SWTOR is flawed at it's core and the only way to improve is a full rebuild from the ground up which will never happen. GW2 on the other hand has a very strong foundation and a much much much more immersive/alive world.

FTP won't make SWTOR miraculously a better game, the flaws are still there and if it isn't fun then there is no point. I find it amazing how much can be accomplished in GW2 without spending a dime whereas SWTOR is rediculously limited.

It seems to me that their restrictive FTP model is in place to almost intentionally make it fail so they can write it off completely.

There are plenty of well thought out threads where multiple posters have explained (even calmly) as to why SWToR failed and will continue to fail as an MMO. The F2P conversion is one of the worst F2P structures i have seen in a long time, but i will say i might DL the F2P client and do the free 1-50 content, then bail on it after i have had my fill of it. I expect to not drop a single dime on the F2P part.

Also mentioning that they added 2 more matches to the already dismal 3, is like adding a small sprinkle of sugar to and entire bowl of plain oatmeal. When i did play SWToR i ran PvP matches 10-20 a day (mainly cause the game was rather dull beside that) So umm 5 for the whole week is anemic at best.

Seriously, why are you comparing SWToR to GW2 ? why not MoP ? or TSW ? or Tera ? i think you misunderstand the revenue model that GW2 has, it is not a free client, its a 60.00 client, then the rest of the game is free. Whereas SWToR is going to be a free client and then require you to pay for the rest of the content other than the 1-50 leveling. (yes its not exact but its a pretty direct comparison).

Good luck in SWToR, it can be a good game for those who have to be in a SW MMO, but for me its the game not the background that makes it for me, if it was the background that only mattered i would still be in LoTRO...bleh.

My issues with TOR had nothing to do with its payment model.

unfortunatly same.. id gladly pay $30 a month for a star wars themepark or sandbox MMO I could enjoy:(

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. [mod edit]

Luckly, for those that DO enjoy the game, it is evolving nicely, has a nice stable core of players that play regularly and enjoy the game.  Reminds me of DAoC, the VN boards were a disaster, but in game it was a completely different experience.

I play regualarly with a solid group of friends and enjoy the game immensely.  It is fun and runs well and has incredible content.  Here we go, now I am going to be flamed royally for this CRAZY opinion.  Well, bash me all you like, won't change my opinion or the fact that this is a solid game.

Edit:  Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, SWTOR is way better bang for your buck with their F2P option than GW2 IMO.  So much more content and replayability that you get for free verse paying $60 bucks for GW2, thats 4 months of sub in SWTOR.

If your a gamer, you should have a solid state hard drive.  Technology has moved on, you should too.  Complaining about something that is your problem hardly makes it the games problem.  This eliminates loading screen delays.  No you don't have a high end gaming rig, thanks for the comedy.

umm you don't even know my specs, I do, so how are you going to tell me i don't have a high end gaming rig? The irony, thx for the laughs. that isn't the issue because I have not had problems like this before in any other game. The game's engine has been at fault for a while now. Its hardly my problem. I knew there will be a comment full of stupidity after my comment, so predictable lol.

EX: Its just like saying Geforce GTX 680 videocard isn't the best video card and saying its mid-end to low end. LOL.

With their restrictions? Haha no chance. I've had more fun with SWTOR then GW2 (sadly) but It doesn't take much for me to say that GW2 will stand far better then SWTOR will with their model. Unless they make F2P a lot less restrictive, they stand no chance and even then SWTOR is much to generick. In the long term, yes, if it gets people to raid it has a lot more longevitaty then GW2 but without the raids for 'extra game length' the only option is PvP and SWTOR's generick gameplay can get stale and even make GW2's "meh" combat look great. GW2 might not have the level of PvP a 'pvp' game should have in its possession, but its still better then SWTOR as of right now.

I feel bad for the guy who said he likes' the game, coming to this site and saying you like this game is just asking to be punished and abused by the haters.

I do not have solid state hard drive and my loading screens are not affecting my game play in any way.  If anything, I am using this time for getting a snack, that's about the longest I had to wait.

I have to admit that game runs pretty smooth on my comp. Kudos for Alienware Area 51 image

I'll admit that I was exaggerating, in 1.3 the loading screens weren't all that bad but kinda ridiculous.

Is this shit serious?  I can not logically understand why someone would enjoy F2P TOR with its current restrictions more than GW2.  Lol to each his own I suppose.
