Dear players, As you may have noticed we're experiencing some server problems tonight. We are working on the issue and hope to have everything back to normal soon. The server is currently down and will come up again at approximately 05:00 GMT. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding. Regards, The EVE Online Team
At least the fess up to their issues and apologize, things have been working fine since the given time
Actually the issues have been with the network provider and not the server itself, according to what in-game GMs were saying about the issue. Things were also somewhat iffy yesterday, but seem to have stabilised now. The fact that it is Easter weekend (a four day holiday) in London where the servers are based is probably not helping.
I don't understand why the company would post a message saying there are server issues if the ISP is a problem? They dropped again today and I had a trace running to the site, it was making it through their provider.
Because most people don't understand what an ISP is. They think "Hey, I can connect to the net and view webpages, so why not EVE Online, the ISP is fine CCP is lying to us". So it's just easier to say 'server issues' since everyone understands that.
CCP released a blog on the server issues they were having and they are fixed now for the most part from what I read (I really feel for those poor Techs...).
The game plays fine now as they have identified the causes and ways to stop it happening again and say they will continue to improve on the setup they already have.
Must admit in the entire time (2yrs+ omg) I have played EVE it just keeps getting better and the odd hiccup here and there are few and far between which is saying something as I dont know how many clean installs/upgrades I have done in that time on my little PC lol.

I'm sure the huge ass red blob we had on the map in tribute didn't help as well. Blob wars are funzo.
