Forgive me for being skeptical, but what credible source is citing 'huge' success? I don't doubt it's profitability, but I don't get how everyone wants to overblow how well the game is doing. Another poster claims he knows 1500 people personally that have stopped playing entirely, and your response was, 'Drop in the bucket, still millions playing!'.
But how do you know? Do you have access to numbers we don't? Because if not, then you're really just making things up, and that puts everything you say into question.
Arenanet still hiring, still pumping out content, stlll caring, having over 2 millions units sold are all signs of huge success from credible sources.
Given what we know, the most reasonable standpoint at the moment is to believe that Guild Wars 2 is a huge success. Once large negative reports from credible sources start happening, we can reevaluate that standpoint.

1500 members is a drop in the bucket compared to the 2+ millions total purchases of this game.
1500 members that went 30-0 in WvW, leveled to max level, fully geared, saw all endgame content...and promptly left. Some of us stuck around, like Synapse with their world first legendary, and myself to get 100% world map completion and completion of all jumping puzzles in the game. We ran out of stuff to do. The only thing left was WvW, and that wasn't even enough.
You played the game wrongly which is the reason for why you got burnt out so quickly. Max-min gamestyle was not the intent of Arenanet. The casual player is the main target and the retention of them, in the sense of how much they spend on the item mall and whether or not they buy expansions, is what is deciding how successful this game is.
So have fun with your pointless casual game. Whatever happened to it being an "e-sport?"
E-sport through Structured PvP is being under development. Be patient, life doesn't revolve around games, I am confident that in one year Guild Wars 2 will have a strong E-sport scene and at that time you can simply jump back in without any extra fee!

It's pretty obvious that you see anything you don't agree with personally as incredible.

How is your opinion somehow more credible than everyone elses? Do you have inside information we don't have access to? Do you work for Anet or their financiers? Just curious.

Never said I was more credible than anyone else. I was questioning his right to decide who is or isn't credible. Wasn't saying I'm right or wrong either, cuz in the long run it comes down to a matter of preference I guess, which is never right or wrong.
However, as far as credibility goes...I've done everything there is to do in the game, I'm not one of these kids that says, "I just hit level 43 and having a great time! I don't get why people are complaining!" I did everything, and so did the other 1500+ members of my Alliance, all of which have left for the most part, and it took 2 months. You want a credible view of what leveling and PVE is like, listen to the level 43. You want a credible opinion on the game as whole, you can trust my experience.
Now, thank you, I said what I wanted to say, I'm not gonna be drawn back in by ignorant inquiries.

Can I have your gear ?....and please tell me where you are headed to play next , I'm always curious where the BIg Guns are going
i loved the game and it was definately worth the money.
The problem i ran into was that i wasn't my character.
I was whatever weapon i was using, plus some very non fun abilities to learn. The trait system has potential and in guild wars 1 it seemed that your character was lacking in persoanlity, but we had henchmen and that added a lot of variety.
Guild wars 2 took the character out of your character. You are either greatsword or sword and board or sword and ax etc etc. they really should have done a lot more with weapons, skills, traits etc. I enjoy the combat and enjoy a lot of things in it, ultimately i logged off because i felt very little progression or uniqueness with my character.

What point is there to playing a game other than entertainment? I get the impression you don't consider yourself a casual player, if so then tough, the game wasn't designed with you in mind. This was always clear up front, casual friendly, hardcore players will not have much of a tangible benefit over casuals in the long run. Many of the casual players (90+ % of gamers) are still having fun. If you have run out of things to do then you're probably doomed to the next themepark unless you want to consider a sandbox, that might keep you busy longer.

Not saying you haven't played the game, but the thread discussion is about whether the game is a success or not. Not whether you played the game or not. And you've been implying that you are a credible source of info when it comes to that. I was merely asking why you thought so.
It's an honest question, so try not to get all offended and start dishing out insults.
I think the game is a huge success. The game isn't really going to redefine the genre like some people stated. The game isn't going to kill WoW, like others have wanted.
But the game is a successful, fun, well thought out mmo with great mechanics. The game is still a baby, taking its first steps and getting through some growing pains. But the right parents are raising it - and they are showing a lot of love and care. At its core - GW2 is a great game so it can only become better as long as the core remains solid.
As with any other MMO, you have people who really love it still playing it. Everyone else either hated it, or they liked it but found themselves moving on.
It should be considered successful, because the game is incredibly polished. It made a tidy profit. A lot of people enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it can't be enjoyed as a persistent MMO for everyone. Its design, that is beloved by some, can be seen as inherently flawed by others.
I don't think there will be any games that will be popular with the vast majority anymore. Guild Wars 2 had a good shot, but the choices the developers made were too polarizing--which is not a bad thing.
As for Guild Wars 2 being in a tailspin, it's in about as much of a tailspin as any other MMO that's released. Everyone rushes in to try it, and after a month or so, the population drops.
I got 140 friends added, there are never more than 4 logged in nowadays, which are bots I reported 2 months ago and ArenaNet still didn't banned. On launch, there would be 90~100 online at any given time.

Which sources do you claim to be credible?
Myself and the other 1500+ former members of the Titan Alliance.
You mean the large ACTIVE alliance? I just went on their forums, hardly seems that they are leaving.
Lies. The alliance no longer exists, maybe the page still does, but you're trippin, trust me.
Oh, your right. They did break down, but they only seem to have had 1100 people. Of course, it seems several guilds continue to play, its just the Alliance broke apart, I know this because I recognize several names I have seen ingame. So, cut those numbers even more... maybe 500 or so. But your right, the Alliance doesn't exist.

How can they have any people when they don't exist?
You were never a member or even on the same server as us probably, yet you consider yourself a source of information regarding the Alliance.
At our prime we had over 1500 members, this was known by all members of the Alliance. [mod edit]

I am not arguing with you. And people do that all the time lol. I am simply noting the last numbers on your website, the words it said, and the fact 1,500 people from one alliance dont all just get up and leave. They spread around, some leave the game, some stay and join other guilds, AS STATED BY THE LAST WORDS of the article on the fornt page of the site. :P
Right. It says:
"Those guilds from Titan that have not retired nor transferred are in the process of deciding their next move in order to seek new challenges. But we feel that, for the good of the game, it is time to move on.
All the members of TA want to thank the community for many epic battles. Hail to you all!"
Maybe some people up and left permanently, but I'd put money on the vast majority either transferring or just leaving the alliance. That doesn't mean any of those "1500" people actually think GW2 is in a tailspin.
It does look like they were dissapointed with the WvW queues and found that having a super huge alliance was basically a pointless endeavor if 80% of them couldn't even be in WvW at the same time.
You'd be making a pretty extreme assumption. The decision to disband was made because people weren't logging in anymore, all PR aside.
And based on the opinions of the players I keep in touch with, and their extended networks of former members...I wouldn't say "tailspin" because it's not true...yet, but I can promise that fanboys of the game wouldn't be pleased by their opinions.

Just want to point out that per a poll on this very forum, a larger amount of pre 80 players quit than continue to play. Now, this poll could be wrong, but it's more scientific than random made up numbers and it is no where close to 90%+.
