Actually, yes it does.  There is no such thing as bad press.  Aside from that, the game is the #2 Sub-based MMO, ahead of TSW, Aion, and Tera, to name a few...

How anyone can say there will for sure be a real expansion to SWTOR with a straight face is beyond me. Developing an expansion for SWTOR is not a priority for EA. What does that mean to you? And how can you blame anyone for thinking it'll probably never come?

Care to share a link with the ETA for their future expansion? The most logical option is at least as believable as any other.

I think someone needs his reading glasses. He didn't say he is 'sure' infact he didn't say anything whether there will be expansion for sure or not. He is just surprised that people are so sure that there will 'never ' be an expansiion.

But oh no..you had to make a snide remark just for the sake of it. Learn to read before you hit reply button bro.

My response to that post was mainly down to him saying the topic is an example of hate and bias, which I do not agree with, as it is quite reasonable to assume that there is not going to be an expansion. But the poll is putting words into our mouth, as "never" is the closest choice to the reality.

EA/Bioware have opted to put out content every 6 weeks to keep people subbed. It is better to keep people subbing than let people get bored and quit while waiting for an expansion. Not even WOW has content added every 6 weeks, because the game and the people who play bring plenty people to the game as it is.  Either they have the 6 weekly contents or they have an expansion plus maybe less frequent content/updates. They won't do both.

If EA/Bioware had said that an expansion was coming, and would not be ready until late 2013 or whatever, and then people chose "never" because thought game would be shut down before then F2P would tank or whatever preventing the expansion from happening, then saying people chose "never" from hate and bias, would be more appropriate, but from all that EA/Bioware have said and done, there is no signs of an expansion coming, as it has been split up into frequent 6 week updates for free, so "never" is quite a viable choice.

You are conversing with a guy that has a SWG avatar.  That right there shows that he has three ranges of emotion for SWTOR:  Hatred, Intense Hatred, and Really Intense Hatred.  I feel bad for SWG fans, even though I hated the game.  They did get a raw deal from Lucas.

But at the end of the day, it was just a game... and it was last year... and SWTOR did announce that it was a story-based themepark a long time ago.... like 2009!  You have to let it go eventually.

That person does not have a SWG avatar, I do.  I do not hate SWTOR but I do hate people categorising SWG fans as the only ones hating SWTOR, which is not true at all. I do not hate SWTOR at all. SWG was a better game than SWTOR, but it does not mean I hate the game. I would have loved for it to have knocked WOW off the top spot. I would love for SWTOR to get an expansion, but it is not going to happen.

Before SWG was announced to close, and I posted that SWG may close when SWTOR gets released, I was called a SWG hater too. Basically people just can not handle the truth. Truth is not hate

If he can't even imagine anyone voting never, he's got to be pretty convinced it will come. He's not just surprised that people guess "never". Nobody is sure it will never come.

Someone sure needs to learn to read before coming up with snide remarks. I just don't think it's me. Have a nice day.

Actually, getting surprised that people are so sure of themselves does not automatically means that they are convinced about the certanity of it. Unless he said 'he is sure that an expansion is coming' which he didn't, you are just assuming and flaming him on basis of your assumption.

I would be equally surprised if people say an expansion will never release as well as they are 100% sure that expansion is coming. Both are extremes.

I don't see why it is such a big deal or offensive that someone is surprised that people are saying 'never'. Some people are just too touchy around here getting worked up and adding people t block list for such silly things.

This just doesn't seem like an expansion type game to me.  EA said that they would never do expansions, but the game would just keep coming out with awesome content to keep people subscribing (paraphrased).

From the last year, it's a little clearer that they have nothing.  You can argue that everything is still in the works, and it will be coming soon (tm), but I think SWTOR's budget with EA was blown on bug fixes, and now EA has resigned themselves to a cash shop to scoop up as much money as possible before the population further dwindles.

If EA was really interested in keeping customer attention, they might have added a couple simple flippin card games, like Sabaac or Pazaak.  OK so freeroam space and racing was out of their league .. how about a couple card games??

So many people have come and gone and come and gone with the SWTOR project that there is no longer a team who knows the game, in and out.  You can fire some people, but when the folks you trusted to know the system voluntarily leave also, it creates a bigger problem.

EA is spending more time training new personnel than actually doing content and upgrades.

Oh and in before comments on the scheduled patches .. they are mostly old content that was in beta, which was whithheld.  Some modifications, sure.  But, it's the same'ol, same'ol. rehash.  Same game new art.

Confidence does not seem very high at the moment.

How could it be -- meager content updates, two server merges, F2P.

Delusional "state of the game" letter.

Analyst talking about "potential for 50 million players with F2P"

    WTH?

Er, Aion has been F2P for quite some time.

If guessing never with a straight face is "totally beyond him", then he's pretty much saying that to him that option is simply inconceivable. That is well beyond mere surprise at so many people guessing "never".

I didn't blocklist the person that thought the "never" option was totally crazy btw. He's entitled to his opinion. There will probably be some sort of an expansion some day, even if it might not be the expansion most people are looking for.

the topic asks us to GUESS. Not to scientifically deduce.

I don't think they'll get an expansion because they don't have a population-stable core to expand upon. Nobody in his right mind will take a financial investment when the present investments arent recovered yet and have signs they won be recovered ever.

can someone with a straight face say "i'm investing in a swtor expansion" ?

    me!!!

Yes If it does get an expanision it will be an overpriced piece of crap, and be far less worthy than EQ2 expansions

Constant free content > expansions anyway. SWG had 3 expansions, but did not get any after NGE, as subs dropped but not as much as what SWTOR has done since launch. Despite it not having any more expansions it got plenty of chunky updates, with Hoth being the biggest, but was still free. SWG also got updated with Beast Master and Chronicles, which EQ2 had put in as a paid expansion last year. (Although that would not have gone down too well, if it was a paid expansion with BM as it was just bringing back CH/BE)

They need to put all their resources into bringing constant content, than putting any into an expansion. Once the game has been updated so that people can play the game at  end game without quitting from immediate boredom, and getting more than the equivalent of 500K subs to more like a million ($15 million per month with F2P), then they will be able to focus on an expansion

    F2P and  no news ....

"We’re still in discussion about some of the larger content updates that we’re planning. Great example is the planet Makeb. We’ve talked about Makeb, we have a lot of plans around Makeb. I wish I could give you more details ....

This announcement was coming off the back of the E3 video about the exciting new mission, flash point,, planet, increase level cap, new playable race .... all coming this year.

The end of November approaches and ... nothing. Maybe EA has decided to minimise the promotional and marketing value of an xpac or ..... it has been delayed. Delayed by F2P? Well it was supposed to be a dedicated team ....

Anyone familiar with what happened with WAR will find the Jeff Hickman August 2012 comment hauntingly familiar. In the words of Jeff Hickman .... I wish I could give you more details!
