shouldn't this be f2p like Firefall??

So Firefall, which imo is a lot better than this game, is absolutely free and has a great item shop in planning that will not hinder f2pness of the game in any way.

Why is this game not doing the same?

Firefall is a lot more interactive, amusing and even scary (try hunting at night with no lights) than WarZ, and already has less bugs than WarZ does, yet it's planned to be absolutely free with optional founder pack that gives you bonuses....what gives?

I review lots of indie games and MMORPGs

No they are a business, and they should use a model that will make them money. Maybe it will also help keep a better crowd in the game.

F2P crowds usually are the worst from my experiance.

personally...it shoudnt have been released in the state its in. This game is FAR FAR FAR from a realse into Alpha OR Beta....they can feel ppl the BS saying it was in development for years but u can clearly tell from the state of it that is all BS. Love how the Devs in this game lye through there teeth. I suggest playing a 2 day trial first....when u do your realize this game is a epic fail and clearly a scam to cash in on the new trend

P.S love how my posts are now flagged as spam...thanks MMORPG.com

Even if that model is unethical at best? Getting people to pay money to play a game in an alpha state while trying to brush it off as paying for the retail version (date unknown.....) with aplha access? MIght wash with the slightly head in sand dim croud.

I don't think in the long term this model is good for either party (dev's / player base). I am starting to wish legislation was in place to prevent this kind of underhand behaviour and i personaly hate red tape.

The company behind WarZ only has one game that I know of under their belt and it is a f2p 1st/3rd person shooter that is pretty dead from what I've seen.  I played it briefly when it first came out but wow it was unpolished and just bad.  I actually got a invite to be a beta tester from them for WarZ but passed, just my imo but it seems to me they are just trying to cash in on dayz.

In a genre that emphasizes the human experience you would absolutely kill that aspect by making it free-to-play. Which they're pretty much already on the fence when it comes to appealing to the lowest common denominator..

    But that's not why it isn't free-to-play.

The reason why this game isn't free-to-play is because they knew they'd cash in on the success of DayZ's popularity. They'd be foolish not to. Where as with Firefall they probably expected their game to never have high numbers so for them to have a chance they preemtively made it free-to-play.. because that's what they'd end up doing anyway.

    Currently Playing:
    nothing :(

You sir just made an absolute absurd claim.    The whole design of a cash shop based game is to place barriers to get players to pay money.   They may release with just deco items being offered, but after a couple of months with terrible ARPU there will be significant changes.
