I've read quite a few other post's about TSW, and most have hit it right on the head.
I started TSW pre-release via the ARG's and Twitter. I pre-purchased game and had the pre-launch. However as I read many forums on other review sites, I knew NOT to buy a lifer sub and man am I glad.
I DID enjoy TSW the first few months, did most zones, grabbed lore, ran dungeons, but I like PvP and enjoyed the area called "Fusang" until 2 weeks ago. Then a non-pvp Dev decided to just update the pvp side(Fusang) with PvE elements. Also, threw out huge rewards to players thinking(or NOT thinking) that that would bring in more players to PvP. So once the word got out that a player didn't even have to do ANY pvp and just afk, he/she got rewarded, huh? what you ask, YES! So I'm sure you can imagine how the gameplay is now,. Oh yea, they messed up the player faction balancing too. They tried to merge the servers based on general population, not pvp player population. So all that heard rushed into Fusang and went afk, collecting many many "marks" for doing absolutely nothing and gearing up to L33T status very fast. TSW brought in a Dev , a PvP specialist (lol) from Conan to look at the issue right after this(10'ish days later). So with total population imbalance it is virtually impossible for the other 2 factions to even get a chance to take over a facility. There has been little communication from this new PvP Dev and many players are fed up and quitting. I am not renewing my sub either. I also read the recent post on Funcom hireing a company to scout for possible buyers, wtf.
So any players concidering buying / playing TSW, go ahead if your a RP'r or a PvE'r, (limited content) and do not like pvp. BUT, if you do enjoy PvP> stay away!
Imo, this game was pushed out way to soon and it is showing now hard. The releases have bugs( I know, what patch doesn't) that will drive you crazy. The crafting is"still being developed", and falls short. And whatevcer you do , do NOT play a Dragon, they really got the shaft on content and is the lowest population.
I wish TSW all the luck, it is a great looking game, and hope a company will buy it to get away from Funcom. I also hope that Funcom get's out of the game business.
I had to post this as i feel like I wasted 6 months.

That's fine -- some will like it, some not. I'd be interested in hearing more specifics though. But he did at least say why he didn't like it. Others feel its quite polished and fun. /shrug
My gaming blog
And yet people regularly do PvP in TSW and have fun with it. Not perfect by any stretch, but enough there to keep it interesting.
