What is the safest US city with an NBA team

I am not from america but it is possible I will visit one day.  I am very into basketball in my country and would like to be a small time supporter of an NBA team.  However I have a caveat, I would like to support a team with one requirement and that is the city it exsists in is relatively safe.  Last thing I want to do is visit a city where Im not welcome and then get jacked and left in a gutter.

Think of me like sheldon from big bang theory and humour me!  I have already tried to correlate forbes safest US cities with an nba team but  always find cities without a team.

I thought:

Cleveland

Oaklahoma

My son supports memphis.

Advice welcomed.

I don't know about basketball, but Cleveland has a lingerie league football team.  That might be something to take into consideration.

Stay out of New York City, Chicago, Detroit, Washington D.C. Memphis and Atlanta and you should be good to go.

Detroit and Memphis are the only ones you should really avoid.
