EA About to Release Info on a New MMO?

EA recently hired Andy Belford (Second Skin movie, Community Mgr for WAR and CoH), as the Global Community Manager for a new, yet to be announced project. Considering Andy's background it's almost certainly an MMO.

Quote from Andy's Linkedin page regarding his new position:

"Leading the Community team for an exciting new project! More information to come soon™..."

New project .. maybe it's a reference to the "Super Secret Space Project" freeroam space for SWTOR?

EA doing MMORPG's has been rather disasterous, and they are probably wondering how to recoup lost time and money from SWTOR rather than trying to dig another hole somewhere else.

EA just lacks the skill, motivation, and innovation to be successful as anything more than a hype publishing company.  /shrug

    new project =/= new game

Pretty much.  And the old Mythic team, by extension.

    You make me like charity

EA should stick with single player console games. MMO deffinetly not their cup of tea.

But if its Mass Effect MMO i`m in ))))))

It wasn't EA that fooled them it was Bioware, they chose to get into bed with EA. It was also Bioware who chose the hero engine long before EA were in the picture.

With EA attached, I think I'll just stay away as far as possible.

Madness! I would trust them to run a piss up in a brewery!

EA proved how dogshit they are at predicting what the community wants in their games.

"Trololol SWTOR failed because it wasn't free to play! Trolololol now we're going to add the worst pay to win garbage ever!"

I thought the same thing haha!

On to the subject of the topic, EA has proven time after time in their MMO ventures that they are incable of making an MMO that the major populaton enjoys. I really don't see anyone caring for this project unless as someone else said, it's a Mass Effect MMO.

I would play it if they get rid of the world, and make the game into an online RPG instead. TOR is a pretty good game without the MMO parts, and if the combat is improved.

Truth. Mass Effect 2 and 3 were hot garbage. When the MMO comes, and we all know it will, I'll die a little inside that day.

Maybe they are going to announce Ultima Forever will be a f2p mmo? lol

Not even a Mass Effect MMO would get me interested (plus ME is dead to me anyway) in anything EA has to offer at this point. As far as I'm concerned they simply don't exist.

I'll stick with EVE and WoW, TYVM.

Big companies can sell there game off IP alone and not put any real effort into the design or mechanics (SWTOR, WAR, AoC etc.)

    I thought that was apparent.

"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then we’ve got another one that is actually going to be – so we’re going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what we’re targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you can’t hold me to it. But what we’re targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo

I actually got a few months of fun out of all three mmo's you listed and would pre-purchase a Mass Effect mmo if I was gonna get the same degree of enjoyment.

Oh no .. I didn't even consider that.. are we jinxed now?

So if XLGames doesn't know much about publishing companies in the west, they might get tricked into going with the most talked about publishing company, EA.   Nooooooo!!

The way western developers design mmo -its just more play-time for the same price. I had tone of fun with Swtor. And was kind of sad when finished with ME.

If anyone I mean ANYONE falls for EA/BW/Mythic's trick again then it is 100% your faults not theirs.  EA doesn't give a shit about good games they just want money.  For those who were saying omfg please be Mass Effect Online!!!

Think about this.. You know when a movie comes out that is super popular and it makes a trillion billion dollars? Then they make a videogame about the movie, sometimes the game even releases BEFORE the movie even does.  Then that videogame turns out to be the biggest pile of shit you have ever played in your entire life, Fight Club videogame for example.

Well that is EXACTLY what the big soulless machine that is EA is doing with mmos.  They take already existing IP's like Warhammer (popular tabletop game), SWTOR (most popular IP EVER, and popular single player game), and whatever future bullshit they churn out, then they spend shit tons of money on it to give it a shiny coat and hype it up so the community turns into a frenzied animal dying to play it.  They pay off all the websites reviews to give them the "BEST GAME EVER" rating and tell you what you want to hear.

Then the game launches and it is either lacking half the crap they said it would (WAR) or it is a buggy mess that doesn't work half the time (WAR/SWTOR).  Which isn't surprising because they use the same god damn team of fail devs every single time (Gabe).

Please people don't buy the shitty movie videogame ripoff again and again... just stick to the single player originals. EA won't stop making these games unti l you stop buying them!!!

    Playing: Smite, Marvel Heroes
Played: Nexus:Kingdom of the Winds, Everquest, DAoC, Everquest 2, WoW, Matrix Online, Vangaurd, SWG, DDO, EVE, Fallen Earth, LoTRo, CoX, Champions Online, WAR, Darkfall, Mortal Online, Guild Wars, Rift, Tera, Aion, AoC, Gods and Heroes, DCUO, FF14, TSW, SWTOR, GW2, Wildstar, ESO, ArcheAge
Waiting On: Nothing. Mmorpg's are dead.
