is this really f2p?

they say it's f2p but from what i heard optonal content meaning content you can't do will be available shortly after release. Runes of magic doesn't currently have any resrictions or should I say the kind of restrictions soe likes to put on games. I've also heard they are going to have a stationcash shop to boot with all kinds of weapons ect. I truly hope they could have incorporated a game likes runes of magic. Why advertise who made the game if it's in no way remotely like the game they relate the publisher to. Some things people do don't make any sense. It makes more sense to me now why the game is called dragon's prophet instead of .... well you know with a different publisher and all.

I share your suspicion, while I have played some very equitable online games in F2P model, LoL and SMITE, I have had bad experiences with F2P MMOs real money shops. Atlantica, which was fairly adequate as a game for me to play, had horribly gimmicie sales gambling, advertising merchandise which was than gambled upon for an unlikely chance to get what you want. And it had an economy which was just suppressive to reward buyers with expedient avoidance to what I can only call unsatisfying character development.

I've spent close to $200 on LoL and $30 on SMITE, and I don't even mind paying a subscription for a good MMO, but include predatory merchandise or belabor the gameplay to make money, than the game is automatically trash, their just compromising the gameplay in order to make money, any smart player is just going to avoid bad gameplay.

And while my experience with SoE is over a decade out of date, I have 0 confidence in their ability to acknowledge feedback and relate them to foriegn developers... one huge qualm I have about all these foreign made games, that the developers don't speak our language, or at least may not bother to read our feedback on this side and relevantly improve the game...

It's been years, one can only hope for progress.
