every link ive download, all end in file not found , or to dead links, where are people getting the dl from? ive never played either ac 1 or 2, but id like to try it, but its proving tedious....

you need an active AC1 account to play btw.

so correct me if im wrong, i need to download ac1, subscribe to it, to be able to download and install free ac2?

Open a trial account or subscribe to AC1, then download and login through the AC2 client, which you can download from their official forums here.

 

You do not need the AC1 client, but you might as well try the game out since you get access to both.

the game just started as a beta server open to AC 1 subs to test it and play etc. Not sure they are even trying to attract new players until after they fix it some and modernize it a bit.

I had to look at the thread dates to make sure this was'nt a necro thread, but someone correct me if I'm wrong, didn't AC2 flop terribly and shut down? Is Turbine trying to revive it?

I played AC for many years but never tried AC2 as my computer wouldn't run it.  I even thought about going back and playing AC again as recently as twop weeks ago but the FAQ sections says it doesn't work well with Windows 7 and I'm not technically proficient enough to attempt the work arounds. But maybe AC2 would work on Windows 7?

AC2 works quite well with windows7 - and even 8, only some minor issues like graphics glitches remain. But as said, this is beta and our job is weed those out
