Just got back from watching "Sin City". By far, one of the greatest movies I have ever seen.
It also does an amazing job at staying close to the source material, the best comic-to-movie movie since "The Crow".
I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, I just want everyone to see this great movie!

Going to see it tomorrow!
I would have seen it today but I was downtown most of the day.
My brother said the violence was like Kill Bill times a million.
I saw it tonight. Great movie. When you see it, take note that it is probably the most "different" movie you have seen in a long time, perhaps since Reservoir Dogs or The Boondock Saints in terms of action and atmosphere.
Alba is my newest obession.

Just came back from seeing it and all I have to say was that it was awesome. It reminded me of when I first saw Pulp Fiction or the Reservoir Dogs. Everything about it rocked: the casting, the atmosphere, the effects, the black & white with bits of color... It felt almost like a Tarantino movie done in Film Noir style. Definitely one of the best movies I've seen in a long while and the most original in style. And yes I would have to agree that it is the best comic to movie adaptation to date.

Thats a nice coat....
lol, I remember that, Marv was definately one of my favorite characters in the movie.
Also, Elijah Wood played a damn good role as Kevin, he was perfect for it.
Geeky and uncoordinated? Agreed.

I saw it last night, it was great.
It reminded me alot of Pulp Fiction. I saw Bruce Willis, where the hell was Uma?
cant wait for this to come out on dvd, something tells me its gunna be a sweet set
I hear this movie is really violent (not that thats a problem, I dont mind heaps of gore in the least) but just how violent? More than the Crazy 88 fight scene in Kill Bill? Even though Kill Bills violence tend to be more 'cartoony' it was still deemed as extremly violent.
Violently Stylized.
Best way I could put it.
lol, yeah Marv definitely kicked a lot of ass. He was like a tank through everything that he went through. Actually all 3 of the main characters were awesome; the actors did a great job bringing them to life. And yeah, Frodo was pretty scary in this one....

Dang, that was quick... Already revealing some of the dvd features. Sounds like some good stuff. (possible spoilers)
I saw the movie today and, yeah it's pretty violent. A little over the top actually, but that's in keeping with the world in which the story is set. Overall, I'd give it a thumbs up (mostly for the cinematography and a few of the performances) but I wouldn't say it's among the best movies I've ever seen.
I'm debating with the idea that this may be my new favorite movie ever, my current one being Apocalypse Now. At the least it is the greatest, most accurate comic, or book/novel for that matter, adaptation I've ever seen. The majority of the lines were taken straight from the comics, and some of the scenes made me nastalgic for the said books. One scene that stuck out to me was the scene with Bruce Willis's character in jail, where the camera was placed above his cell, but showed nothing around him. Such an overwelming sense of loneliness, so boring yet it kept me interested the whole time. I only read The Big Fat Kill and That Yellow Bastard in the series, but I plan to read the rest now, as I suspect that Josh Hartnet's character plays a bigger part in those, as he seems to be part of something bigger.
SD gives it a 10/10

SPOILER!!
HERMIONE DIES!
i just saw it and this is what i think defines the movie.
Pulp fiction and Kill bill have a love affair and this is the most beautiful child ever.
i didnt realize it was elijah wood as kevin until someone in this forum reminded me. it was totally awesome, i love the fight he had with murv with the handcuffs.
everyone of the main characters were seriously mentally lacking in one area or another, except Hardigan. he is very balanced and perfectly normal except hes a hero. and i think hes my favorite character. and he tried to kill himself to save her like 3 times it was awesome.

Just got back, I thought it was a pretty sweet movie.
Can't comment on the violence because I am completely decensitized to that kind of stuff, but people tell me it makes them flinch some of the stuff in that movie.
All of the violence was very very exaggerated like a comic book.
My favourite characters were Elijah Woods, Jessica Alba, and that other girl I forget the name of.
It's hard to keep track of all of the people and what's going on, as there were around 20+ main characters. Definitley one of those movies i'll have to look over once or twice to get all the events mapped out accordingly in my brain (I'm a little slow ).
Bottom line: Give this movie a shot. If your into the type of 50's comic book style "film noir", this could very well be the best movie you've ever seen.
No not every one should see this movie. It is exxxxtremly violent. Kill Bill was violent, but not as dramatic (the incredible violence was offset by the fact Kill Bill was ment to be a Comedy-Drama-Martial Arts). Sin City is pure Drama. Adult Drama. Not for the 12 and under crowd, or even 14 and under. I know many of them will still see it, but it makes a difference if parents condone it or not, so that the kids know what's right.
Ultra violence de-sensitizes. A Clockwork Orange is still king of ultra-violence, with Passion of Christ a close second place, almost tied with it. Vying for 3rd place..... maybe Death Wish 1 (It was the first movie to take showing violent rape scenes mainstream.). Definatly Kill Bill 1, and Sin City.
There may even be adults who wish to NOT de-sensitize theirselves either. So this is why I say know that Sin City is an ultra-ultra-violent movie. It's the adult movie-goer's decision if they now want to still see it. And parents, hey, you are responsible for how your kid turns out! No one else is! Frank Miller's comic was ment for adults only. So is this movie that is based on it.

Hmm, I wouldn't say that it was "that" violent but that's because I agree with another poster: It's styalized violence.
None of the violence looked real to me due to the comic book nature of the bullet holes and the... well.. the rest of the stuff.
The movie did kick some serious #%! (to use comic book style cursing). I'm going to bet that it'll be one of my three favorite movies of 2005.
The DVD definitely seems like it'll be worth a 'round as well.

The violence was hillarious.
For anyone who saw it, they know around the end of the movie something funny happens with an arrow.
Also, people were being hit by cars, flown up into the air, and then get up and keep running.
Yesterday I watched Sin City for the 5th time. (Some of the girlfriends in my harem work at movie theaters so free movies for me! LOL!)
I have to say IMHO the main reason why Sin City was able to stay soo true to how it was in the comics, is because of how incredibly involved Frank Miller was in the movie! He was soo invovled that he just about made the movie himself it seems! His name appers soo, soo, much in the credits it is not funny! LOL! He produced it, directed it, and wrote it!
"This isn't funny! Don't anyone laugh!" - "Iron Jack" Kafferty... character from Sin City after he gets a swastika stuck in his butt.

Is it me, or was anyone else reminded of Nicholos Cage when seeing Clive Owen in Sin City (he played Dwight, the guy who drove Kafferty in the classic car.)

Wow, Jessica Alba is half European and half Mexican! She is hawt ... I mean... hot!
She experienced the usual Latina/Spanish sterotyping when she first started out.
She graduated school at age 16!!!
She cooks her own food herself!

"Faith Manages"
I will say it once more- Alba is my newest obsession.
