Well you and the rest can continue to try and derail the enviable. Swtor is doing good it will continue to good the servers everynight are packed at low and high level areas. When are posters like this going to move on. Here is a little tip just like ever other mmo that has a shop YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY ANYTHING! Players are not jumping in for the cash shop they are jumping in becauae its a good game, great stories, good flashpoints and ops fun pvp and it keeps growing thats why they are coming.

People are jumping in atm because it is FREE, 1.5 million people (plus the doctors / founders of the game) would not have quit after several months making it go F2P, if it was a GOOD game (or rather MMO)

Putting in mounts, speeders, and other generic stuff in the cash shop is fine, but anniversary/life day items? No, that is not fine at all. It is like buying a christmas present for a relative and then they can only have it if they pay for it, it basically goes against the goodwill of christmas. Well 1st and most important you DONT PLAY SWTOR, you along with the rest copy and paste each others post. Whine and cry about $3 fireworks. You posters have been trying so hard to derail this game. Yes it lost a lot of players every mmo does (even some shut down like your little preshish) but going f2p has been great for SWTOR if you played the game you would know this. Instead of copy/pasting the same crap over and over try playing. You will see from starter planets to the fleet they all have multiple instances. If people just came back because its free it still wouldnt be packed 3 months after it went free. Its still packed because its a good mmo. And the same people who have been whining and crying for over a year now wont change that.....move on already!

Didn't read my list of things from the trade networks did we? I can go to the GTN and buy character slots, no money involved, just grinding credits and then buying it from auction. To get Dilithium you have to grind specific quests or events not every quest give dil. or if they do it is 5 or 10. so by your example of grinding for dil, how is that any different than grinding for credits and getting it from the auction?

Second point, in SWTOR it does not cost $20 to go from 2 characters to 6 characters. Since we are talkign about the f2p model, and starting at 2 characters you spend $5 and you pref status. BOOM you now have 6 characters. in many of the p2p games people sit there and talk about "is $15 to much a month?" well to be honest is a one time fee of $5 to much, well it is if you are heart set on hating something. then no matter the cost it is to much. After pref status, which unlocks tons of things, you can now more easily buy things from the GTN things which only cost in game credits. These credits are everyday credits not a special currency like dil.

I'm sorry my defense of completely luxy items on a cash shop offend anyone. I do not need a racing stripe on my car to drive it. I do not need to hide my helm to play a game. if you NEED these things i will forever call you vain and defend any companies ability to leech money from you. I admitted that a weekly pass is a kick in the nuts. WHY? because I am acknowledging that to some people all the meat and potatos of a game is the pvp and instancing. To me they are not, thus while I admit they are a kick in the nuts, you will NEVER find me paying for one.

Lastly if your guild/friends are to shallow to help you with gear, then they are not a real guild or friends. You can buy gear unlocks from the Trade Network. If they are not willing to play with you to help you get that stuff, not that great of a guild. If you are reliant on gear scores, then go away. I REALLY hate you elitist jerks. "You can't come in your not geared - But I need this instance to get geared - Then do it with someone else We LEET" MMO's are about community, and the game is not what forces a community it is the players itself.  You have a bad community it is not the games fault, it is the anti-social people on the other side of the screen. Been playing MUD's and MUSH's for years. Those games have absolutely no graphics and have had better communities and guilds.

I'm going to spend my time here for the same reason why all the "haters" spend there time here. I'm here to defend a CHOIOCE to play, all the while defending the company who IS making strides atmaking the game better. It doesn't matter if things should have been in at X tiome according to YOUR expectations. They never said "X" date for extra character slots so I expected it to happen when it happened, not any sooner.

It has not been 3 months, it has not even been 2 months since F2P launch, but the servers are starting to show a slide in players again as they did last year. People who play for free may play a bit longer than those subbed due to the F2P restrictions.

EA really does feel like they have blinders on, or else strongly stress to their executives never to pay attention to F2P systems that work.

because, although of course every f2p game wants you to spend money, there are plenty that do this while at the same time remaining FAIR.

Turbine's system does allow you to earn points for the cash shop in game.  L2 / Aion put a lot of fluff and buffs in there to go through the game quicker but they dont gate any content or any character creation choices.

I think EA's problem is like the problem that casino managers solved for themselves decades ago.  you would think that casinos want their clients to lose all their money when thy visit.  that's actually not true.  they'd much rather have you lose a small amount of money, and come back again and again, than have you lose all your money once and never come back.  (i had this explained to me in more detail by a relative who works for the casino governing commission in new jersey but it gets long and winded).  the main point is that EA should be trying to get a LOT of people to spend a little money, not just a few diehards spending a ton.

Stuff that is on the GTN was purchased with real money still from other players. Instead of working / playing the game to get the credits, they buy stuff from the store, and get your credits, that you worked hard to get. In a way you are like a credit seller but instead of getting money for your efforts you get the equivalent value of the char slots $5 each or whatever you buy

Everybody in STO can just play the game to get the stuff, without spending any money unless want to, so you get more people playing whereas in SWTOR the person you buy the char slots from is more likely not playing and just waiting for the sale.

They do not have to do anything within X days, but as the delay in char slots prevented people from actually playing, it was pretty urgent. The Life Day items were not urgent.

Most stuff from the store is needed to make the game more playable / enjoyable. No other game cripples you, so you feel you need to spend money to get going. If they did not limit the UI, XP, quest rewards etc I bet more people would enjoy the game, and play it more. In LOTRO you have have to pay to unlock content, but if you enjoy the game that far, then spending money is more worth it.

At the end of the day they do not have to do anything, few people like you will still play it, but if it was not restrictive, MORE people would play, and its future would be more brighter. I guess you do not like the game enough to worry.

It was already brought to attention that at peak times were now Very Heavy and Heavy, and not FULL as what they were at F2P launch, from this thread

We are not haters we just post FACTS, whereas defenders just post lies. No one said it would be dead after a month, and F2P has not been around for 2 months, let alone 3.

Congrats on the 500th post....I have never said SWTOR perfect or the best mmo ever made. Its a very good mmo that a lot of people are enjoying. Im just confused by those who dont play and have spent the last year of their life bashing a game they dont play.

Most people i've heard from think SWTOR f2p sucks because they can't play the game 100% without paying.

They want access to all content and think the shop should only have cosmetics and Boost items.

These same people also hate the Lotro model where you have to pay to unlock content.

Very few MMOs are 100% free content. It's incredibly difficult to sustain a model in a mmo. You need to have stuff in the shop that people feel they need to buy. Sure SWTOR may be a tad extreme but if they wwent the other way EA would shut down the servers because no one would be supporting it.

MMOs are a different animal when it comes to F2p. its much harder to sustain that model in this genre than in FPS, MOBA, and RTS.

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

Well then they have not played the game if thats what they said. The truth is you can play the entire game from level 1-50. You arelimits to how many flashpoints and pvp matches you can do a week but you get to enjoy the ENTIRE game. I would bet you heard that from the fab 5 on this site that have never played but still a year later continue to try and bash a game they dont play. How you can waste a year going on two years of your life whining and crying about a video game you dont play i will never understand. The fab 5 will need to spend a few more years whining and crying cause SWTOR isnt going any where.

    Wait, where are my lies?

All I've stated is that the are giving what they stated they are going to give. None of those had hard dates associated with them. I have never quoted a specific time, I simply said that they are adding in. People with no ability to wait are jumping the gun and stating that it needed to be right away due to "industry standard" (on a non-standardized style)

I've shown data based on my own personal account(s) at the time of posting. That data may not be entirely valid an hour later due to the flux of things such as an Auction House, but at the time of posting they were complete facts on my server. In doing so I've come under attacks such as "I don't get it" and "I'm what is wrong with the industry".

superniceguy, look at the text below your avatar. You are proudly proclaiming that you are a SWTOR hater. We are only calling it like we see it. Everyone keeps going on with "what they should have done" Yeah, and Ncsoft Should have, Cryptic Should have, Turbine Should have, ect. Everyone has some sort of problem with a companies business model. I absolutely despise NcSoft for everything they have done to the MMO industry by their dirty tactics and "unfair" closings. I do not however go into the Aion forums and bash people who state "Hey I've tried this after a while and I love it". I do not feel the need to berrate people who like things other than the games I like. Someone who comes into a game/forum, proclaims they do not, nor will not, play a game and then bashes people who are trying to defend opinnions of "hey this isn't so bad" IS a hater.

I HATE cash shops, yet I still play games that have them. Why?  because it is your right to purchase from them if you wish. I do not go around forums calling people morons for buying things. I do not call every GW2 player idiots for supporting a horrible game that is obviously on the downslide. As for people putting things on the GTN after they have paid real money for it. THEIR CHOICE if that is how they want to spend their money, if I can benefit from it all the better, especiall if I do not have to spend real money. To complain about a system such as that is just being spiteful of peoples choices on how to play a game. People play "Second Life" where real money is used to buy in game money and items. is that a "HORRIBLE GAME" because they do not give a way to earn those credits ingame? NO the basic model of Second Life is to fleece everyone for intangible items. People can buy those intangible items for REAL money. How people spend their money is their business. If you're playing for free and not spending a dime then stop complaining. EA owes you nothing regardless of what you think they might owe you. If you don't like their f2p structure then move on somewhere else. So goddamn tired of listening to people whine about how they're getting screwed over by cash shops that you don't have to use, and how f2p play is being done wrong because it doesn't give you everything the person paying a monthly sub is getting.

Buying from a cash shop and selling it on a GTN/AH is no different than this "successful" MMO

+1. I have not purchased a single thing from the cash shop. The only thing I've used those cartel points for is for legacy perks. Then again I'm a subscriber and not someone that's looking to have the entire game given away for free.

It is interesting that as SWTOR's F2P model is becoming better, we see a lot higher number in players than before.

That is not true, that is a lie.

I have said I will play SWTOR when they unlock more char slots and now they have I will, just finishing off EQ2 winter event before it goes bye bye tomorrow for another year.

I have also said that I would play it if they fixed the issues I keep stating, but it is not going to get fixed with people stating it is good when it is bad. This is a MMO where devs work on it to improve it. If this was a single player game where changes do not really happen, then you would have a point.

Just because your other 5 (i can name them if you want) extreme haters of a game you guys dont play say its sliding is so far from reliable information its sad you continue to copy/paste it. So hang on because of the f2p restrictions people will play longer? Thats kind of opposite of your logic in past post isnt?

It was already brought to attention that at peak times were now Very Heavy and Heavy, and not FULL as what they were at F2P launch, from this thread

Hey now, read that first word.

If you want to be mad at me for calling you a hater, then do it with the phrase I used "Look at the words under your avatar" The statement you quoted is a blanket satement for the others who have come in to bash the game "I've played 20 min and never again", "The f2p is horrible and I'll never touch it" stuff like that.

The f2p model is becoming better, this is something that I've becried "please be patient" however all many sides I've gotten the "NO it should have been X", or "EA is the devil incarnate you cannot belive what they say about getting better", or "EA cash shops are simply horrible"

On that last note, I give you. but then again my opinnion is  that all cassh shops are horrible. How things are handled in a f2p model are not standardized. this is self evident that no two cash shops are the same unless by the same company. There are many that are similar, some offer boosts, some offer p2w like deals. I look forward to seeing an update on your opinnion of the f2p model. I'm not expecting anything to honestly change, from the sounds of it superniceguy you also had a problem with the basic gameplay, and to be honest that hasn't changed much, and in some instance gotten worse (everyone likes to point to Ilium)

If you meant it as a blanket statement to everyone, then you should have stated it on a separate paragraph, instead of including it in the same paragraph that starts off pointing comments directly towards me.

The trouble with most of the arguments lately seems to be from misunderstanding what you are saying, as your words are all over the place, one minute you are aiming your comments at me, then someone else, then everyone, and rarely quote anyone yet are responding to someone many posts back or everryone all at once. It is getting confusing and doing my head in.

The words under my avatar are being taken out of context, as I prefer LOTRO to Rift, so LOTRO > Rift, but I still play both, and I did at one time have extra words on it - "The above is hopefully subject to change" but there was no room for all that now, I still mean that but as time goes on there is getting less and less hope of that.
