Hey guys,
I finally gave up on GW2. I am just looking for an MMORPG that sticks true to the name (massively multiplayer). I am tired of having to power level to level cap before I ever do anything with other people.
I am open to any suggestions (aside from GW2, because that game is just another grind to 80 and then the grouping begins!)
I want to actually have to work with others to overcome a difficulty, not queue instantly and never speak with anyone. Does any such game exist? Is it just going to take 100 times more effort to get a group together myself in GW2? I hate spending an hour in a town trying to get a group together only to see the people leave to go solo quest instead.
Signed,
A frustrated player who was lied to about GW2.

i havnt played any really old some mmos so im not really a good person to give advice on this but i used to play age of conan although the first 20 levels are all single player there were some groups quests along the way especially in the noble city which i used to love doing, i dont know how things changed since launched but just a suggestion.
Merry Christmas
Honestly, if you're having the trouble you speak of in GW2, you are going to face similiar situations in every game. This is more about encountering the right people and socializing on your own than an individual game. Sometimes you'll find a good time, sometimes you won't - doesnt matter on the game much.
You're going to have a hard time finding any recent game that encourages grouping from the start.
Sadly, one of the remaining few mmorpg's that did shut down recently (CoH).
FFXI used to require a group to be sucessful. I don't know what it's like anymore.
Eve Online is very group oriented. It requires a longer term commitment and a different approach to playing then the traditional mmorpg.
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

I spent most of my time playing GW2 with others, all of which people I met in-game. even the random people I encountered during events were nice and cooperative enough that I felt the multi player aspect during most of my experience, even though I played LATE at night when the population was lower.
I know experiences vary from player to player, but I feel that anyone playing GW2 alone and complaining about it is too anti-social to initiate their own social interactions. this is coming from a very anti-social person.
I find that being polite and helpful and not 'trying' too hard is the best way to make friends in-game, because you will attract like-minded people. convince yourself that it is an anti-social game, and walk around with that attitude, and that is all you will see.
the thing, this applies to most social situations, in and out of games.
