What's your favorite class in mmorpg game?

Generally speaking, some mmorpg games have many classes for people to make a choice.
At least, 3-5 classes.

Some of them belong to Physical Attack,eg,killer, warrior etc.
Some of them belong to Magical Attack, mage, mancer.

Even both of them have Physical Attack and Magical Attack.

What do you think paladin belong to? Magical or Physical?

And I ranged. Ie. archers hunter

...but the most interesting class I've ever played was AoC's herald of Xolti.  Short range no armor high dps great sword wielding Mage.

I'm usually a melee damage dealer. The roles I play rarely use magic. If they do, I prefer to focus on self buffs.

If I'm going to be serious about the game I always play tank. If I just want to relax and goof off, I play a mage type dps.

    Archer (without pets!)

Can't stand having some pet follow me, and do half of my total damage..

Archers are great, hunters are bad.

If an MMO does not have Archer without pets I usually go for the class I use in Single player RPG's

    Melee 2H swords, or dualwield.

Healer type, usually. I want them to make some more classes or atleast break them up more. Too many Jackofalltrade options out there, makes them all just bland at best.

Healer all the way, not always the best at it but I like to support people:

    Wow: Paladin (80), Priest (80), Druid (75)

    Planetside 2: combat medic

SWTOR: I am going to play a jedi counselor

    Raider Z: Cleric/ berzerker

    GW1: Monk

Fallen Earth: A medic type character

    Tera: Mystic and priest

Firefall: Medic (Or biotech forgot the name of that.)

And lots of other games I cant think of right now.

I loved playing support classes.  I like being needed by a group and helping others.

However its harder to do that now.  Most of the new MMO are basically single-player games.  People solo and usually only work with others in end game instances.

As a result I don't really enjoy the newer games as much.  I don't play an MMO so I can be in my own shell....there are single player RPG for that.

Backline DPS because you can't stuff that up even with average gear.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

    Hybrid.

Most no tably, World of Warcraft DRUID. Been playing one since Vanilla and it still delivers. I use it to heal, tank, phy dps, magic dps, everything really.

Second the bard archetype or something supporty or complicated with multiple roles or possibilities like the LOTRO LM. I am absolutely convinced that a pure dps class with a predictable rotation of skills spammed over and over is for the simple minded.

I really liked squig header in warhammer, so much character, and with my spec played like these action combat mmos, firing on the move and what have you.

Support classes are my favorite. We are like the masters of puppets in mmos. We make make people dance to our tunes.

Always the long range for me. Magic or weapon does not matter.

Hybrid... preferably one with support skills (cc buffs debuffs) although they tend to be useless these days.

Paladin....if that isnt avallible the closest thing to a tank...
  • Azaron_NightbladeAzaron_Nightblade Member EpicPosts: 4,829

Usually something melee, either tank or DPS.

That or a class with pets if the mechanics behind them are interesting enough (like City of Villains' Masterminds, or Diablo 2's Necromancers)

Some kind of pet-based support class is usually my favourite. The Loremaster in LOTRO, or the Summoner and Puppetmaster in FFXI are good examples. Healing as a puppetmaster was insanely fun as you had to manipulate the puppet's AI using elemental command sequences that triggered different reactions. I miss that one... classes are so boringly simple these days :(

For me its all about choice.

I like all the classes, all i want is a game where you can hybrid your own build from all the available skills.

So you get a pool of points and you custom your class, sure there are premade ones, but freedom!

    anyway just my 2cents.

P.S. And I know this is what happens in TSW, I play and love that, but i want a fantasy game like that :)

the game that gets it done the closest to what i want is POE :)

Love the POE devs, I think they are not human :P
