I recently returned to SWTOR, and surprisingly I have been having fun. I started from scratch on a new server and taking it a lot slower this time around.
I know its popular to bash the game, hell I have done my share as well, but honestly it's a bit over the top. SWTOR is not a perfect game by any means, but in my opinion it is funner than GW2, TSW and WoW. (And yes, I have played and own all of these games)
This. Especially given most of the complaints about F2P restrictions can be removed using the cartel coins.
I have all 4 games too and the one that draws me back is SWTOR. It's just more fun, especially the PVP.
I bought the two month subscription as I figured that it would keep my interest at least that long, but could only play for the first month after release. PvE became boring and I'm not a pvper. Classes were slightly different but played essentially the same-same, got tired of doing the same kinds of quests over and over, the extensive and expensive voice acting was nice but only nice, travel was a pain whether running, riding, or between planets, class stories were different but the same, etc. etc. Was supposed to be a story-driven game: um, lots of the same kinds of stories, so, no.
It wasn't engaging for me. No "oh, wow" factor at all. Won't go back now that the f2p model is so bad. Bottomline:
nice, same, urgh, nice, same, urgh, nice, same ..... gone.
I am just not enthused. If the game were buy to play like TSW or GW2 then I woud probably consider it worth while and play for nostalgia's sake now and again just like I do with those other two mentioned games. However, their freemium model is atrocious and they have not added any content worth exploring. I've moved on.
As an admitedly SWG fanboy, I gave SWTOR a chance and played for about a month or so before becoming SO bored with the WoW like flavour. (No, I am not a big WoW fan either)
I decided to come back after it went f2p and logged on to find only 2 character slots avaliable. Ok, well that's a normal limitation. Logged into to my level 40ish Bounty Hunter only I was missing all my aciton bars. Well, they changed the ui so I have to set them back up... wtf I have to PAY to have more action bars? This renders the game unplayable at higher levels unless you pony up...
KTHXBI
UNINSTALL
(Sony, have you totally wiped the SWG servers? Maybe we can do the right thing and turn them back on?)
Played: Asheron's Call(still the best fantasy MMO!), EQ1, EQ2, Vanguard, DAoC, Horizons, City of Heroes/Villians, WoW (crap), LOTORO, D&D Online, Eve, Anarchy Online, and still playing SWG daily.

Outside of Rift, the only MMO I feel drawn back to is SWToR. The game works really well especially played more in a co-op mode. I would rather spend time enjoying life than bemoaning fate.
