I hope this is just a story and did not really happen. I'm suspicious of the bit about brass knuckles. I've seen people get hit in the face and head with brass knuckles. Putting the bones of their face back in place is usually a higher priority than answering questions tough questions like whether a fight is worth continuing or not.
I would guess the court date is because you used a pair of brass knuckles against an unarmed person? Maybe because had you not said anything, there wouldn't have been a fight at all? Depending on where you live, there may be charges for owning or carrying brass knuckles.
A bunch of dumb youths can now brag about going to court for being in a fight. They certainly haven't learned any lessons about making fun of people. This was probably their first fight. They were in a GameStop after all, not a local bar. Were they even over the age of eighteen? Your son will probably start a fight with someone in school over video games because you've shown him that it's an acceptable thing to do. I just don't see any upside to this at all.

Also, describing your arms as "brawny" makes me suspicious as well.

I know this cheeky idiots sometimes deserve a good beating and that might teach them a lesson, but in the end that cheeky idiot might get your money becuase you injured that bastard.
Might not be such a good thing when everything sums up. I think you should've just said him the truth about his sad life that he wouldn't like his friends to hear and that might end up giving you a greater satisfaction.

He didn't start a fight; he asked the three young men laughing at him and his young son if they had a problem. If they did have a problem with him they could take it outside.
Most people today think they can ridicule whomever they would choose (like a father with his young son) without repurcussions. If you know absolutely nothing about those people you might end up getting more than you bargained for. Food for thought; Never judge a book by its cover and if a person is going to harass somebody in front of their young children I hope the person be ridiculed has the cajones to administer a life changing beat down to his harasser.
