Yes

Now why do I have a hard time believing you wouldn't use any information you could to blast the devs or the game itself?

Sorry, didn't mean to ignore you theres alot more noise than signal since the 2nd wave came over here to flood the forum.
No I do not think F2P brought more subscribers. I think it hurt the game because now you can experience the bugs in the game for free at least before they got at least a month out of you.
F2P is way too late. It should have been introduced around 2009. Basically the messed up 1.34 launch IMHO ended the game. Playing against players who are invisible, well, just sucks.
Not only that now you can get a F2P account and multcrew your vehicle and warp all over teh game world. At least without F2P the exploiters were forced to pay for a 2nd account.
Either way the critical damage has been done. It sounds like its too late from what you are saying. Blub blub blub. Can you answer a question for me then, who idea at CRS was F2P?

Awhile ago, when I was still subscribed and 1.34 had just been released, I asked why they couldn't revert to 1.33 until they got the worst of the bugs sorted out. It was quite serious at this point because many players could not log on, or play more than a few missions without their game crashing.
I was told that going back to 1.33 was impossible. I asked why it was impossible to go back to a setup that was installed and running fine just a few weeks ago. I was told that the 1.33 host no longer existed in any form, so going back wasn't an option. I then asked what kind of software development company doesn't keep it's previous builds on file, and CRS locked the thread.
The strangest thing is that CRS admitted that 1.34 was the real turning point, and that they had lost a lot of subscribers but instead of immediately focusing on fixing the problems with that version they kept working Rapid Assault. Seriously, that's what they said during their kickstarter, "If you want to see fixes to 1.34 you'll have to donate to Rapid Assault and make it a success".
Theres a David01 that posts in the WWII official forums, is that you by any chance?

I would have to agree with you on that
1.34 was pretty bad last year.
The funny thing is the person responsible for that function(KFS1) is now working for Blizzard.
"You fanboi's"' But you say in another thread depoo12" you don't have an issue with players, yet here you are being derogatory about...yes...people that play the game.

No I have an issue with fanbois like you and others who feel that because my POV doesnt agree with yours that its OK to come in and crap all over my thread. Pittpete just posted "Its free to play" thread just now. I have no interest in going over there and dumping all over the game. Get the idea?
Originally posted by pittpete Theres a David01 that posts in the WWII official forums, is that you by any chance?
Yeah that was my new account that I made since I couldn't reactivate the old one with the $9.99 sub rate. I'm sure that mentioning CRS's bad business practices and attitude towards their customers in a public forum is a bannable offense, not like it matters because I'm not playing anymore and their closed forums are essentially dead.
Anyway tell fxmkorp that I'm sorry for pulling my anti-tank rifle guides from youtube; I was going to make new updated ones but CRS took down the training server.
Originally posted by pittpete I would have to agree with you on that 1.34 was pretty bad last year. The funny thing is the person responsible for that function(KFS1) is now working for Blizzard. Makes you think...hmmmm
Regarding the 1.33 response I just thought that they were lying at first, as they really don't like it when someone suggests another option besides "stay the course" so they say that something is simply "not possible".
I don't know what it is with them though, it's like they assume that all of their subscribers are shut-ins who don't know anything about coding or the typical dev process so they make remarks that bite them in the ass. Given their other blunders though I think they may have actually done something that foolish.
It was kind of crappy how they handled KFS1's absence. I assume he got a job as a programmer? CRS should celebrate their employees growing out of the company or moving on to new things. Blizzard still seems to be one of the top companies to work for so I don't see why everything needs to break as hushed rumors.

They would be completely stupid (which they have shown they already are) to ban a player posting in a NON CRS forum. If that was the case, the shit storm they would get from doing that would be huge. They can run their forums anyway they want but if they know what is good for them.....they would not go around banning players critical of the game in other forums. I still have 4 days remaining on my forum ban for calling XOOM out.

The notion that anyone who criticizes WW2online is some bitter malcontent is probably the biggest obstacle in getting them to change. There are whiners in all games, just look at Star Citizen; the game isn't even in beta yet and there are already many complaints. Good games though will still prevail over a few disgruntled players. At this point I think that there are more people who played WW2online, learned it's rules, got involved, got angered with some new patch and left than are playing right now.
There are many things wrong with the game's mechanics. I'm sure that the few players remaining will defend them, but still the game play is at least debatable.
What are not debatable, however, are CRS's failed and borderline unethical business moves, and their contemptuous attitude towards both their longtime subscribers and F2P players.
CRS is in dire need of some self reflection, in fact they needed it 2-3 years ago but back then "If you don't like the game or where it's going, then just leave!" was the official position. Perhaps if you care about the game so much you should less time analyzing critics and spend more time getting the company to think about:
-Why are they raising money for a paid advertising campaign when no one at the company even bothers to keep up a minimal presence anywhere else on the net
-Why they continue to refuse and even disparage community assistance when it's obvious that they have little grasp of marketing or art design
-Why they think that they can compete in 2013 with a WW2-themed arena shooter(max 64 players!)
-Why they maintain their hierarchy of unpaid player administrators when the system routinely breaks down and requires company employees to intervene
Those are just a few. Be sure to be approach the the issues very carefully, as even the slightest disagreement(or injection of reality) in to the CRS forums is tantamount to treason and will bring out the harpies and barely-contained, seething responses from employees.
Well pete and others, it looks like CRS is going to need all your help, probably to a greater degree than they'd like to admit.
Back to their marketing problem, go to their Steam Greenlight page. Click on their youtube link.
The top videos are about Rapid Assault, which I'm almost positive is now a dead project. Not to mention that the greenlight campaign is for Battleground Europe(was it originally for Rapid Assault?) and when clicking on YT it'd be nice to see some recent gameplay or promo video, something that's not a year old.
Someone teach them to run a proper YT channel. Are they wondering why there isn't any buzz about the game or GL campaign when they have such a minimal presence, or do they simply not care? There are several indie games out there that absolutely blew up in popularity without any real advertising budget.
Blizzard was mentioned a couple posts ago. If you've ever dealt with Blizzard you'll know you can go to their forums and say the game is losing subs, is doomed to fail, your class was nerfed and your leaving, pretty much anything not obscene or absusive. CRS obviously went a different path. Not that its the only reason, but which company is doing better?
Just realize I have nothing better to do once I get home from a long day's work so I'll be here for the long run.
what kind of software development company doesn't keep it's previous builds on file, and CRS locked the thread.
My response was
The funny thing is the person responsible for that function(KFS1) is now working for Blizzard.
(BTW, I'm using fancy colors in hopes that you can follow along.
If it gets too complicated let me know & I'll trying something different for you...OK)
Your response was
So your saying the game's state is KFS1's fault? Wow. You fanboi's will say anything.
At the time, KFS1 was an employee at CRS.
Who's to tell who made the decision not to be able to roll back, make a copy, etc....
Do you think he was specifically told not to back it up?
We will never know, will we?
If you took that it was KFS1's fault out of my response, so be it.
From the two things I said about KFS1, tell me which one isn't true please.
KFS1 was responsible for host related functions.
KFS1 is now working for Blizzard.
You cannot lay blame at one individual when you do not know the full background story to it. E.g. It could very well be that he wasn't allowed to do it.
Likewise I doubt theres much truth in their not being a backup. Though overall a poor decision they (the reasons why CRS probally went ahead with their decisions) they would not want to face the big embarrasment of realising a patch and then having to withdraw it. They would have to change all their marketing (the small amount that there is) and I assume they would of thought they could solve the problems in a day or two which didnt turn out to be

I said that to XOOM on TS that the game was lacking youtube content and that they should encourage player (many of whom have skills in filming and editing) to make montages and content. He said that CRS had some people making content for them. All lies, havent seen anything new from them (unless the lame ass RA vids were seen as top quality content).
They have a serious lack of imagination and comprehension of the modern gamer. If people hear about the game they will check videos on youtube. If the content is rubbish they won't bother. They all together don't really care about marketing. Their twitter is barely anything, they've finally picked up their facebook but the idea that a box on this site will magically improve things is nonsense. I see no battleground europe adds on the front page and unless they've got a banner or something at the top of the page ppl will just ignore it

Dave, you make some really convincing arguements that I can whole heartedly agree with you on.
It was almost like hey we got the only game of it's kind out there, & take that.
Presently a lot of the old faces at CRS are gone.
We the players that still play can only hope that the future brings new players and new changes, both which are greatly needed.
We can only hope & thats why people are coming here to defend the game.
Theres no loyalty to the devs, but to the game an the idea.
S!
