i make these threads often when I get so bored and have absolutely nothing to play. So what do you think is the best themepark. Probably played them all at some point, probably own most of them (and haven't touched them for almost as long as I've had them) but i am looking for something to really try to get into while I wait for darkfall to sort things out. I am willing to buy all xpacs if it makes the beginning experience better. I however do not like the secret world or gw2.
Thanks
Edit* I do like pvp though. And I tend to lose interest quickly and not give games a fair chance. So if it something that grabs you right away it would be perfect

I beta tested it and go back every once and a while. If i were to start over does the xpac benefit lower levels?

What he said, those are the only 2 mmos (oh and eve if you like sandboxes) worth playing nowadays... Though next year is looking pretty promising
It is a lot of fun especially if you like the Lord of the rings setting. It has some of the best environments of any MMO. They added mounted combat in the latest expansion. They have PvMP, but if you really like PVP it may not be the best game for you.
One thing the added to the low levels of Rift is instant adventure. Kind of a random public quest kind of feature. It can really help leveling. You can get to max level in it quite quickly.
are instant adventures part of storm legion? they didn't exist when I played on launch. Also I liked crafting in games like runescape and stuff. I read there are crafting guilds in lotro. does it hold a light to that at all?
I would say Rift right now. For me, its been the only game released in the last 8 years that could keep me playing for 6 months. There is a ton of content that added since I last played, I logged on a few months ago for a free weekend and was lost because there was so much new stuff, I had no clue where to start. The game though was pretty much still the same underneath so I didn't resub.
I haven't played WOW past level 20 and probably since burning crusade was the newest expansion. I finally unlocked my account (guess someone tried to hack it during the d3 debacle) and I saw I was upgraded all the way to wrath of the lich king. Would I benefit from buying mists and cataclysm if I were to start from scratch?
Rift - very solid themepark, probably my most admired due to the team behind it.
TSW - The theme in this park is just awesome, modern day mystery/horror? dont see that everyday.
I would say GW2,but the game became a ghost town before I could hit max level, tried 4 different servers before I finally gave up. Cant solo most of the events either.
my number one overall pick would have to be TSW in the end.The game is too out of the ordinary not to get my vote.Plus, the game actually has some difficulty to it,which is almost non existant in todays mmos
I tried the secret world twice and I have never been much of a quester so ones where I actually have to pay attention are kind of a no go for me (i tried though after giving up in an hour and people telling me I didn't give it a chance). Trion is probably one of the best developers in my opinion. Very impressed with the defiance alpha and they pump out stuff like crazy. Just they never really covered pvp all too well in rift. GW2 just felt childish. Like the cutscenes tried to be intense while child friendly and it just didn't work for me
this world pvp aspect is something I have not heard of. I always thought it was dead after the first year or two. This interests me
What themepark in the last several years has covered PVP well? Certainly not any of the major ones like WoW or Rift.
I can't believe I'm going to say this but...
The only one that comes even remotely close, IMO, is Aion. And even then, PVE undermined PVP in that game in a major way, but at least the ideas were there. World PVP was actually fun and had some sense of pride/urgency/danger that went along with it. I actually felt like an invader going to kill my enemy. Hiding a rez point in enemy territory and going "hunting" was great fun.
Having a bunch of reds in my territory made me want to actually go out and kill them. They had sieges and ownership that played a HUGE role in faction progression. Flying combat was kind of poopy for melee, but hell, it was something different. The only problem was that you could PVE to get excellent PVP gear, and upgrading the gear was a massive RNG grind.
Playing a themepark for PVP is like going to the stripclub for sex. You're just going to leave frustrated.
That last line is great. I completely agree. pvp can come second, obviously it has to because it is a themepark (there are no quality sandparks aside from hopefully df as of now). Maybe I am being picky but Aion, which I no-lifed when it came out, took hub hopping to a new extreme and the pvp, though starting at level 25 didn't really get good until end game and it was a massive grind of boring quests to get there
Don' think I'd have any friends to play with. Would be interesting but I am the only one to even play mmos. It was a fluke that I got 3 people to play d3 for our short stint
Why so many people love RIFT? For me it always looked like polished, but dull and unimaginative WoW clone. What you guys found there that I didnt see?
TSW rest r just money grabers

Since you used the words WoW clone, I doubt I'll be able to explain to you what makes Rift different. Rift is no more of a WoW clone than GW2 is. They do things differently. It has an unlimited free trial. Go try it for yourself.
