This model may not be to players in the west liking but be in no doubt that in Asia it will not be an issue. I think many here are forgetting that we in the west wont be seeing AA for at least a year and a half with Russia being the first outside Asia.
The MMO world does not start and finish in the west, AA will be the biggest MMO in Korea and have a vast following in Asia.

Damn right they are confident of they're game.
Yeah but this is not going to work in west. That is what i am trying to say. When even themepark MMOS can not pull it off i highly doubt a niche sandbox title is going to pull it off in west. So yeah they are way too over confident if they released AA in west with this model. They are going to fall flat on their face.

Tripple dipping's the best. There is this saying about a fool and money and another one with time... So, watch this game become extremely succesful intially and die a quick death after.

I highly doubt any western publisher/developer has enough strength these days to even think about releasing a subscription based MMO, except of course for Blizzard, but how many companies have the resources, experience and recognition even comparable to that?
Wouldn't really worry about it at this point anyway. First on eastern market cash shops are norm. Second it's long time before AA gets to west, and third, a lot can happen in that time.

Well, now, wait a minute...
Themepark games can't pull it off because they can't keep up with the content or, if you are thinking of some of the latest offers, not enough content and bugs and such.
People will pay for a sub if there is value to be had and people will pay for cosmetic items if they are "neat".
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

I really doubt that it is just because of lack of content that prompts people to reject sub model + cash shop model.

That's me, totally. From what I've seen of the game it looks really compelling. I'm getting it, no doubt. If I like playing it I'll keep subbing to it, and if there's a cash shop with some cool cosmetic stuff, sure I'll buy some. Give them a little extra money to develop more stuff and I my baby girl (avatar) is happy with the latest fufu.
another subscription + cash shop game (with possible retail box price too). Im sure i wont have to wait more than a year after launch for a F2P conversion to start playing it. We know that is how its going to end.
Sub and cosmetic cash shop, I am ok with, when it starts to be xp potions, and world items that give an advantage, I have problems with....We will see.
I didn't see what they are charging for a sub either, I know asia can be very different for those types of things, and in some places, you can only charge for game play on a time used basis...So it could have nothing to do with how it will launch here...Whenever that could be.

Themepark games can't pull it off because they can't keep the croud. If u want battle ground pvp u would rather play MOBA. If u want PvE there r a lot of already estabished games with a deep PvE system. All is left is a lone player in MMO. Wrong player for the good game or wrong game for the good player.
Posting picture of an asian man in scotish like outfit?????
AA got deep crafting system deep housing system. It separates PVPers From PvEers without braking ecomony. What else u need from Sandbox MMO?
Well he's got a Korean pop star dancing on Obi-Wan Kenobi's table. What do you expect?
A sub is a deal breaker for me. I'm not renting limited access to games anymore. None of them are worth that to me.
I feel a bit sorry for the western gamer in general. Modern sandbox need a team. Team need dedication. In past years west gamer was fed with money grabing subscribtion based themepark MMO like games with cash shop.Nothig else i can say.

I think iv said this in another post before but ill say it again here. Im very VERY glad AA will have a sub. It will insure that i wont have to play with people like you.
EDIT: *rude comment*
If you have no interest in sub based games then i guess its time to move on then.

Really? Because I feel sorry for Asian gamers having to put with the endless of amounts of crap that they're fed by Asian developers. I have yet to play an Asian MMO that is worth a damn.

Oh, the irony.
I agree. A lot of people seemed to have hyped this game in their own heads but I doubt this news will deter those super fans.

That s the main problem of western gamers. You want to put price on everything.
Anyway West will be lucky to get AA in 2014.
Russian got it first and i hope they will put ip block.

People need to understand that the cash-shop isn't selling anything that makes you stronger. It's just fluff, like clothes and other vanity-items.
So get over it.
