Originally posted by Ozmodan really not a MMO, you have to play with one of their characters, doubt this will be that good a game to start with.
If you can't make your own unique hero like in CoH then this is definately not an MMO. That is such a huge step backwards in MMO design. Marvel Heros should have been a single player game.
+1 to this (and sadly there are lots of crappy single player Marvel games, mostly on consoles)
I'm a big Marvel fan, and since CoH I waited for a Marvel mmo. All my alts in CoH, CO (mostly even in DCUO ) were based on Marvel toons - sometimes just by appearance, sometimes with powersets too.
And now the big thing is here, with Bendis, backed up by Marvel officially, etc. and they're making a f***ing diablo clone of it? C'mon... My only hope is maybe it will be financially successful and they'll decide to make a real mmo as well.
personally, I'm glad it's a diablo clone. something to play off and on to kill time. I'm thrilled it's not an actual MMO.........sick of trainwreck MMO's build just because the IP they're bastardising for it will guarantee box sales.
We all know all of you who are posting here wishing it was a full featured MMO based on Marvel would be here with a flamethrower a week after release because the "vision" of the game, it's marvel'ness, was lacking and it was a hallow shell of a game that was supposed to be a living comicbook world.
It's time to make anything based off existing IP's into diablo clones and time to come up with new IP's without all the attached hype, drama, conventions, etc of the current trend.
Grouping in Old school mmo's: meeting someone at the bar and chatting, getting to know them before jumping into bed. Current mmo's grouping: tinder. swipe, hookup, hope you don't get herpes, never see them again.

Mmo means Massively multiplayer online. If you watch the videos they explain how other parties and players can pass by you while you're out in the field.
The term MMO is greater than the sum of its parts. There are certain bare minimum qualities that the game must offer before being considered a MMO. Being able to create your own character is one of them. By your minimal definition Dota could be considered as MMOs when it is clearly not. I stand by my original statement that this is NOT an MMO or if it is considered a MMO than this is a huge step backwards in what is now being classified as MMOs.
You should of told them you make the rules on what is and isn't an mmo. I had no idea, I'm sure they didn't know either.
You don't have to be sarcastic just because you don't understand what a MMO is. That does not make it an unfun game, just limits how you play the game. Lots of people like this sort of game, more power to them.
Getting tired of companies "forcing" people to use Facecrap to get stuff.
What happened to the days when you could just "sign up" or click the button for a free key without having to be forced to use a money hungry 3rd party program to advertise?
Never used Facebook, never will.
Guess I am forced to pass on this opportunity.
Glad there are other games out there. If you REALLY want people to see/test/play your game..GIVE it to them, don't let your sponsors force it upon them.
Who over the age of 17 uses such a thing? I figured the novelty would have worn off by now, yikes.

Its not an MMO its more like diablo.. but with super heroes..
Looknig forward to this, but sadly missed this beta key giveaway..
As for the use of Facebook I have no issues with that at all, infact its a great marketing tool and any company wantnig to promote their game would be utterly foolish to ignore facebook and other social sites...
