Game with open pvp or rvr style.

So, i am looking for a game that does right what wow and lot's of other games have done wrong. And that is world pvp or RVR with some purpose. I also like sandboxes but it doesn't have to be one, as i know there are no real modern sandboxes. I guess Archage fullfills alot of this criteria, and i know a lot of people eagerly await it, but is there anything similar right now? What i like in a game is to make friends and foes, and the last one applies to the pvp part, but not just some arena or random players, rather getting in fights with players that you have fought before, during leveling, for territory control, or whatever. This is why i haven't bought guild wars 2 yet, as it doesn't have any real world pvp rather than arena matches and rvr with no names and that gets repetitive as far as i have read.

You are going to suggest Darkfall i pressume. Although i've done full loot in the past and i am not really fond of it, i guess if the gear doesn't count tha much in the game i could go with DF, but the new version isn't out yet and when it is, Archage may also be out.

I started playing rift a bit, got to lvl 10, and although it is good on paper, it's boring and it's animations chunky. Maybe i am just spoiled by tera's combat system which i liked but i lost interest at lvl 49 mainly because my zerker was way unbalnced in pvp, too few quests and tiresome to level, and i read that endgame was not that good anyway. But if rift's endgame has some of the things i like i might give it a chance.

Well overall, i think i am searching for the game that many others do too, but maybe gw2 could grab my attention or rift, at least until archage or some other mmo comes out. So i need oppinions on rift from a world pvp point of view, and generally about gw2. I may like gw2, i don't know, even with arenas, if there is the aspect of that "little" community, seeing the same oppononents now and then having fun bashing eachother.

GW2's PvP/WvW is horrible. Don't waste your money on it. (egw hdh klaiw ta lefta mou)

Right now for us ex-daoc / war players there is no game out there sadly. TESO sounds promising. We'll see.

Thx for your replies. I am currently playing Planetside 2, and i am starting to get the hang of it and i like it. But you know, i was also looking for some classic mmorpg fun. Age of wushu, i really don't like the oriental theme of it.

Boxsnd, yeah, only if daoc had modern graphics and all that would be great. Other than that, is there something else?

I really haven't looked at warhammer recently, only played it at it's launch but was very linear. How is it now in terms of pvp?

Warhammer is... beyond dead. Dominus was looking good... until it was abruptly cancelled. So pretty much your options for 3 faction pvp/rvr are:

    1) Rift - their pvp sucks, their 3 faction system is pretty lame, and over the years its grown to look like a very shitty wow clone, a far fall from its good roots.

    2) Warhammer - dead, more dead than the girl I saw get literally split in half in that donkey show that one day in Tijuana...

    3) DAoC - it's still the best, and really the only great, 3 faction RvR/PvP game, maybe I'm just biased...

    4) Elder Scrolls Online - upcoming, and they're doing something called "megaserver" where every player is on one server, so chances are it will be a carebear server(assumption based on a quick look at population trends in most MMOs offering both PvP and PvE servers)

    5) Regnum online - I played around with this quite a bit on my linux box, it's actually pretty good, like a free DAoC. Might as well call it a DAoC clone. Here's the link: http://www.regnumonlinegame.com/

    6) Aika - I don't know anything about this game other than the fact that it's been advertised as a free to play RvR fantasy MMO. A glance at their website shows 5 factions(nations). Website: http://aika.gpotato.com/

Waiting for: Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

I played Rift for 2 years. I've stopped playing my account, not really anything wrong with the game its just the logging into the same game over a long period of time tends to bore me after a while. If you haven't leveled a character to max level you haven't seen all of what the game has to offer. It shouldn't take more than a few weeks to max level a character. They are now down to like 1 PVP server if you want true open world PVP otherwise you will be limited to conquest and warfronts. Conquest is basically just a massive scale warfront in a since though. With hundreds of players fighting for control. However there are 3 teams against each other. When the game first cameout I was really into PVP. It just seemed more fun back then before there were so many changes to classes and how the basic mechanics of warfronts worked. It seems like they have completey gotten rid of any since of melee and it has just become one big nukefest. They should add a 1 vs 1 option or something. The game is actually very fun at high levels and the raiding system is done well.
