Questions bout healing

evdaezevdaez Member UncommonPosts: 131

Hi guys, im considering to purchase tera for the founder since its gonna go f2p but before that i need to ask a couple of questions.

(1)how easy/difficult it is to level a healer in tera?

(2)Do i need to aim individually to my pt mates to heal them?

(3)Do lowbies really do dungeon runs or do i need to wait until max level before even hoping to set foot in a dungeon?

(4)Are there any similar RDF button or do i need to wait in town and spam LFM?

(5)The last question is kinda subjective, as a healer , do i just stand in one place to heal like a hpala in wow or do i need to move around(i find moving around avoiding stuff and healing fun)

Thanks in advance for your replies.

    1) Easy.  Of the two healing classes Mystic might be slower at this time.

    2) As a Priest you have:  Targetted ones and different AoE's or different cost and speed you plant on the floor (5yard radius 10 yards in front of the position you face).

There are AoEs centered on you with a cast time and moderate in cost.  In short a variety.  Your debuff cleanser is also  an AoE on the floor.  The targetting for this purpose is you aim a player and he gets"painted" indicating that on releasing the button the heal will go towards them.  That's important because there will be a lot of moving.  But as a priest with the proper Glyphs casting the floor heals will be plenty depending how bad/good your team is.  if your team is good you can spend more time replanishing the teams mana and keeping attack buffs up.

    3) As a Mystic, also some targeted heals but: they are weaker than a priests BUT have a heal over time component that the priest does not have.  Your debuff cleanser is not a floor aoe but a targeted ability.

The Mystic trademark is Motes.  Better known as balls or candy.  You cast the spell and for 5 minutes a ball pops on the floor that when consumed by you or someone in party heals over time and cleanses any debuffs.  more importantly is the Blue Balls, which are motes of Mana that instantly replanish a bit of mana to the person who consumes it.  So as a Mystic there is some strategy with placing balls before engagement or placing them close to the tank or DPS.

Mystic also has some powerful Auras which is usually their most desired trait, 2 can be used at a time and include auras to increase Critical chance for the party (best buff in game), decrease chances to be critted, mana replenishment, movement speed and so on.

The tradeover is that at endgame, playing a mystic is generally considered "harder" than playing a priest.  If skill or challenge is what you crave Mystic is the way to go.   Otherwise priest.

    4) Lowbies do plenty of dungeon runs although some dungeons are less popular than others (Ascent of Saravash, level 56+, not worth the grief).  Running dungeons not only nets gear for you and completes quests, but also items you can sell on the broker for gold.  Dungeons also are very fun and gorgeous to look at (Except the first dungeon, Bastion of Lok, it's a cave and kinda tutorial.)

    5) There is an LFG function that as a Priest or Mystic automatically queues you as healer.  The button is on the minimap on the upper right corner.  You can also use the LFG channel.  ultimately over time - guild is the way to go.

    6) As any class on this game you'll need to move.  As a healer it's almost part of the stated design for them to move, both to avoid stuff and to reach people.  Of the 2 Mystic has to move significantly more Priest.  In this game, after level 20 you stand still at your own peril.

Love to see a new player who wants to support a great game and purchase the box before F2P as I did :)

Leveling a Mystic can be a bit of a chore solo. So try to group up a lot. I'm leveling a Priest as I love to heal too. But the Priest is a beast and can take on anything. And kills normal mobs quite quickly after you learn to play :)

Mystic is indeed much harder to level, so i'd try to get parties for BAMs and whatnot as often as you can. :P

Dps is lower with the healing classes but you have no down time so it equals out. I've healed in other mmo's and never really cared for it, boring as hell. With Tera I find it fun and very cool. You have aoe group heals and lock on mutiple target heals with the priest and the mystic uses healing orbs. Healing in dungeons works well from your first one. Casting is basically static for the most part.
