i was just wondering, when i get Coh im gonna be completely lost, if anyone would help me along and tell me what server to start on and so on. Thank you

Around every now and then but anyways. The game communities are really helpful. Just remember if you pick a power you find out that you dont like, you can always doa respec mission later.
There are some decent sites out there for some of the info you are looking for. First off, go to the official message boards at cityofheroes.com: http://boards.cityofheroes.com

As for server selection, that is a personal choice. I don't know of a "bad" server, to be honest.
Best advice I can give you: ask questions ingame. There are MANY players that are always glad to help a new hero out.

you basicly get 3 choices in coh when you start.
Powers: This depends are your playing style. When you played your other mmorpgs what did you do.
Do you like doing dmg? massive control? tanking?
Your second choice is the origen, but that really doesnt matter
your third is your costume.... Sadly this is probably the funnest thing to do in the game, but its only the best by a little bit.
