Emotes (who doesn't love them???)

I love using emotes. They help me express what I feel, and also make me laugh.
Which game do you think has the best/funniest emotes?

I think WoW, and SWG have the best emotes of all...

Filio

I cannot say I find myself very fond of them personally, I just do not see alot of use for them overall. However I have seen some people do completely amazing things with them.

FFXI was a good example of this, I saw a guy during the Japanese new year celebration going on in game, use emotes to virtually recreate a traditional dance, obviously it was not perfect but it was damn close and really amazing to watch. I assume he had it on a macro of some sort as he did it endlessly for a few hours a day, but it was an example of people being really creative.

In EQ2 I find myself with a further Distaste for emotes, I sincerely dislike the animations associated with them, as every race looks exactlly the same.Quite frankly EQ2 has the worst emote animations I have ever seen. Of course the fact that the facial expressions are rigid and non existant simply do not help that game any, I find it ironic that ffxi had facial expressions that were 100x better on a graphics engine that was so far below the eq2 engine...priorities I suppose.

Again, its just a personal dislike. I do not use them, but I do find it amusing when others do. The only time I find it irritating is when some kid finds the most irritating one and spams it endlessly.

I have absolutely zero interest in emotes.

In fact, it incenses me to think of how much time was spent making these emotes when glaring gameplay issues exist. I absolutely concede that the 3D wireframe animator is not the guy that is going to fix the class imbalance issues, quest/mission bugs, and other items...but it still drives me crazy.

    Agree 100%.

I mean, maybe the odd wave or bow is marginally acceptable, but when games come up with a list of 30+ emotes you just want to batter your moniter with your keyboard thinking about how long someone wasted doing this.

Most MMORPGs reuse basic skeletons over and over again throughout the game. Instead of working on emotes, I'm sure the Wireframe Artists could have knocked out an extra 3 or 4 of these to add a bit more colour to the game...

Anarchy Online has got to have the most expansive and best emote system.  I love them so...hehe they really help with immersion.  AO also has such great social clothing and hangouts, too bad no one seems to notice these things.  But ao has really cool cities, shops clubs and stuff, everyone's just powergaming all the time i guess.
