hmmm im not really too bothered about the budget but as long as its nothing like image

if you know what i mean......and its bcuz im not a real expert bout PC components so u can just give me a rough list, and a price next to them then that'll be great thnx image

No, actually, I have no idea at all what you mean.

How much are you planning/willing to spend to upgrade your PC? How old is your current system?

Without knowing what you're willing to spend it's awful hard to recommend changes. Some people think $1000 is a ton of money, others think it's pocket change.

    http://www.sis.com/products/sis650.htm

SiS650 isn't your motherboard model, it's the name of only one chip on the motherboard. Look for the name on the circuitboard, not on the chips.

Maybe you can look up your computer specs on pack bell's website and get the info there.

no the SiS650 is the model

it just has a chipset same name cuz i checked it on the CPU-ID and it gave all information bout my PC

    only 150?
    um
What is your system specs? Motherboard alone aint gonna cut it. Vid? HD? SND? RAM?

Here's advice on how to ask for help in upgrading a system: Give full specs ie:
    My system:

    P4 3.2ghz HT 800mhz FSB
    2gb 533mhz DDR SDRAM
    160gb 7200rpm SATA drive
    NVidia GeForce 6800 GTO PCIE
    Sound Blaster Audigy
    16x DVD Player
    16x DVDR/RW+
    8x USB 2.0
    Firewire
    integrated ethernet adaptor

You mentioned you don't know what your MB can support. 9 times out of 10 upgrading other components is far more important than the processor. Especially if you have anything faster than a 1.5ghz system.

my friend just told me to get a new processor if i want, and more RAM and  BETTER graphics card.

i currently have 756MB od RAM  and  NVIDIA GeForceMX4000 as a graphics card

but im still curous about my motherboards spec so i can see how much RAM my motherboard can handle.

The previous poster was correct. SiS650 is the chipset on your motherboard. Not the motherboard model. If you don't know the exact model of your motherboard then what Packard Bell system do you have? With that we MIGHT be able to dig around the Packard Bell site and get the info you need/want. The SiS650 chipset is supported by about a dozen different motherboards all of which support various ammts of RAM. So we need to know what system you bought from the company to narrow the search.

If you can't/won't give us that information then how many memory slots does the motherboard have? If it's got 3 slots it supports up to 3GB of RAM (IF it is in fact an SiS motherboard based on the SiS645 chipset, which is what it sounds like but I cannot be sure) If it's got 2 slots then it maxes out at 2GB of RAM most likely. Again, without knowing exactly which motherboard model you are using those are guesses. As I said, we need to know the motherboard model or, at the very least, the Pack Bell Model so we can find out.

All that said, however, with 756MB of RAM and a GeForceMX4000 graphics card I'd recommend forgetting about upping your RAM and getting a better video card. Does your motherboard have an AGP slot? Or just PCI? If it's got AGP try to find a GeForce 6600w/256MB RAM AGP card. You'll get the most bang for your buck there. The MX4000 is a lousy video card by today's standards.

Again, my advice is given with this caveat: I'm ASSUMING, since you haven't given enough information, that you are using the SIS645 reference motherboard with the SIS650 chipset on it. I can't be sure though.

sorry for the late reply, i've been round my friends for a few days but anyway back to business.

well i have 2 RAM slots (1 is with my 256MB of RAM and the other with 500MB of RAM) its more likely i have a PCI rather than AGP but my PC model..........im not too sure myself i think its just the home edition one......but i think i can tell u the spec for my PC......

1.8 Ghz, 256MB RAM, (on board graphics)

    processor is Intel(R) celeron(R) CPU 1.8 Ghz

my memory type is DDR-SDRAM (i have 2 slots on my PC)

im not sure is this enough information for you lot, but hopefully it is..................i dont know what model my motherboard is.......but i know its made by NEC.

    Now we're talking
OK you have a 1.8ghz processor. You don't need to worry about CPU speed right now then. Though you're starting to push the limit there... I'm not sure if you can fit a 2ghz socket on that board... and I'm not in the mood to go digging to see if any of the 2.4's were built using the same slot as the 1.8... I can't remember if the socket type changed between those or not at the moment.

The big key is that your board will support up to 2gb of RAM. For about $200-$300 depending where you get it you can pick up 2 gig of RAM for your system and it will DRASTICALLY improve your gaming experience. You could pick up 1GIG and replace the 256 stick with it instead and run on 1.5 GB of RAM if you are tight for cash.

The other upgrade you should seriously consider is a GeForce 6600 graphics card. I suspect you have an AGP 4x slot. Sounds like your system is similar to my old one (except mine used RAMBUS so I couldn't upgrade beyond 512mb of ram... dammit) so it should have an agp slot. Just look at the board and look to see if you have an odd card slot that's shorter than the others. That would be the AGP one. Usually the one closest to the power supply and ram slots on most boards.

If you have AGP you could do this:
Spend $100 or so on a 1GB stick of RAM
Spend another $120 or so on a GeForce 6400 or better video card. Preferably with at least 128mb of on board ram.

Those two upgrades shouldn't total more than about $300 *US* which should be less than your target cost. That will give you a HUGE gaming boost.

    Good luck!
