I wonder who in his right mind would call a game sick, and claim it to be the cause of moral degeneration, who themselfs have not even played the game ? I mean i wonder what words are used by parents who dislike their kids playing violent mmorpg's (they kill innocent frogs in game? outrages !).
I mean; they generally dont know what a game is about, however they read in some bad newspaper that a korean kid killed some other kid over stealing a online sword, and that all the games their kids play will make their kids addicted, and kill people and innocent puppy's in real life.
I mean those people have no idea what happends in a game, however they go ahead and condemn the entire concept as being bad for their kids, and most of the time even try to convince other people of their opinion !
How is that different from this game and some reactions on this site ? How can you form a strong opinion on a matter, and call entire groups of people sick without knowing exactly what you talk about ?

Okay, allow me to reply here. Sociolotron, or Socio, as we call it has indeed been "playable" for many years. I know people in game who have played for seven years and I have played for two myself. Since the people calling Socio "sick" and decrying it as part of the downfall of humanity have never played the game and have no flipping idea what they are talking about and commenting on, I feel it falls to me.
These posts could not be more out of line. Socio is not for people "without lives" and frankly, closed minded comments like that are one of the reasons I am glad the community is restricted to age 21 plus. We can always tell the "young 'uns" they act like children. Yes, sex and sexuality are part of the game. Again, you can tell the newbies, they are the ones grabbing at everything. Those of us who have played a while use that aspect of the game as a mere mechanic, a means to an end.
The graphics are terrible. No doubt. Socio is created and run by a single game developer. He is currently working on a 3D version of the game. Mikaboshi is the working title.
What Socio lacks in graphics, it makes up for in a tight, close community. Role play is the emphasis and relationships/rivalries/romances between characters is the raison d'etre of this game. I have played other games and always come back to Socio. There is a connection and a depth of role play that cannot be found elsewhere. At least in my opinion.
Socio is also unique in that our player base is split almost 50/50 between male and female. I believe its about 49% female and 51% male. So although you find men who have female avatars and women who have male avatars (I've been a male myself) the norm is that women are women and men are men.
I would like to add that I am 46 years old, female, university educated, professionally employed with an income that has allowed me to support 3 children very comfortably. I do not consider myself a "loser", a "perv" or morally bankrupt.
I tried Socio out of mere curiosity and stayed because of the sense of community I found there and the friendships I forged. There are aspects of the game with which I am not comfortable and I believe our justice system in game does not go quite far enough, but these are things being addressed in the new version.
The game is simple enough to learn in terms of mechanics, but impossible to master or win as its complexity evolves from the player interaction.

You can vote at 18 but why bother since noone with intelligence bothers to vote outside democrats or republicans really noone at this age bothers to vote anyway, you can't gamble at 18 another pointless law thinking people under 21 cant think responsibily on the other hand you will let Wall Street gamble our whole country down the tubes along with the politicians, of course you can sign up for the service at 17-18 and go die in a pointless conflict under the guise of profit and political games, oh well as most people know anyway the US is probably the most backwards when it comes to freedoms, pay your tax and get screwed by the 1%.

2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

But really, do I have to flee to an outdated social game with bad graphics just to finally get away from the MMO kiddies? That is sad. Why aren't there any Adult Only games (or Adult Only servers would be fine) for those of us who would rather kill things in a game than rape them and who would like to do our killing with people our own age?

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
You should have taken less than a minute to realize this thread is more than 5 years old. I mean as a new comer, I would hope you would at least put forth half the effort I bet you expect from new members in your old game.
parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.
I'm perfectly aware how old the thread is. I'm also aware that it shows up when some one searches information on the game. As a small, independent game with a small player base, the sort of biased, uninformed info in the thread has potential to be really hurtful. I felt it was incumbent upon me, as a knowledgeable player of this particular game to state that it was not entirely as has been represented here. But thanks for your concern.
