EverQuest II: The Plague Infects Norrath

SOE also passed along word of a plague that has infected the citizens of Norrath in EverQuest II. This world event seems to be available across all servers and citizens are urged to seek the cure.

The Plague Infects Norrath
Players of Sony Online’s EverQuest II are experiencing a nasty case of the plague today after the release of our 6th update to the game since our November launch. While the plague is highly contagious with a visible affect, it is not believed to be life threatening. The source of this disease is unknown and only the joint efforts of adventurers and artisans will be able to cure the people of Norrath. Unlicensed salesmen are expected to offer “remedies” but players are advised to be wary of both their prices and the effects. A universal cure needs to be found!

Other exciting updates in Norrath include:

  • Characters can sell items from their house vaults while away or even offline through brokers and fences.
  • Mailboxes are now in all city zones for in-game mail.
  • New quest paths are available for solo players and groups in outdoor zones.
  • The benefits of food and drink will no longer disappear when your character dies.
  • Group members in the same zone as your character will now show up on your zone map.
  • Crafting is even more rewarding with new tradeskill reaction bonuses.
  • Crafted food now gives handy stat buffs.

In addition to the above, IGN PC is reporting that the first retail expansion will be unveiled at E3.

Actually, this sounds very much like the first major event the GMs hosted in Horizons. It got to be real annoying that you couldn't speak to anyone or go into most of the cities without getting infected or reinfected. As a Cleric, I got the spell to heal people, but they would then reinfect me when they thanked me.

I really think Sony needs a shakeup in their content creation department.

I remember this event from EQ1, it was lots of fun! Now if they would go ahead and introduce pvp ruleset servers I would play EQ2.

Memory can be a nasty thing, when I decided to play Everquest 2, I don't remember reading 'you will have to play a vomit covered, shivering, pustule-ridden, ever vomiting character who got in this state with no forewarning nor any idea why'.

The thing is that no choice was given to the players as to wether they wanted or not to get in this plagued state and participate in this story, everybody was drafted wether they appreciated the idea or not.

To put it simply, I decided to resign as I find absolutely NO pleasure in the game for now and my friends in the game begged me to differ.

I wonder what SOE will do to improve on this show, switch to cholera instead of plague and make the characters pick up parts of their anatomy (eyes, ears...) that fall to the ground in order to get regenerated ? Change everybody to worms and observe all the characters wriggling about wondering how to do anything about that?

It seems that most people take this kind of treatment as 'normal', this kind of 'normality' has led to the worst horror in history.

The Plague is a bit of fun I guess and does give a feel of a dynamic game world, as a newbie in EQ2 its quite interesting.

But lets hope it wont last that *vomits* long as it will *coughs* get "played" fast.

    Hi Naos

Judging by the first results of the poll you are not the only one with this opinion.image

I can understand and respect this set of mind, but I certainly do not share it.

I feel like a passenger in a hijacked plane, I was not going to this destination and I DO NOT AGREE with the hijackers.

Had there been a choice at some part, like 2 EQ2 sessions, one with the event and one without, our choices would have been different and that would make no discussions.

Right now my only choice would be NOT to play, but I have commitments to people of my guild, I find myself playing because friends need me and disliking very much every minute of it.
