This is wrong. Destroyers, mages and hybrids were the 3 different classes In DFO. You didnt play if you ddint know that and they were all good for sieges, 1v1, 2v2, 1v3...
These 3 classes were balanced enough to compete against each others. Bad destroyers and hybrids did get flawlessed, but pro gamers like Itwas Luck where there to prove that these 3 classes were still balanced. If it was not for them, probably no one would be there to take the time to get better with these template and showing to everyone on youtube that they are good afterall. Itwas luck, only destroyers who kept winning tournaments.
If you think DFO was hard, then you are also wrong. DF UW is harder. In DFO, the best tactic was to debuff your opponent with everything you hadf(4 debuffs was enough). I had a plate helmet and full bone, i killed subzero once, who was in infernal because i stacked 4 debuffs on him with each at level 50. My character was mini maxed with Q1 elementals.
Yo, I love this "if you didn't X then you didn't play". Dude, I played from release until shut down, I had 4 accounts active, 2 EU and 2 NA.
There were no "3 different classes", I never saw a "Mage" in DF because all Mages were Hybrids at the same time. The only exception was Destroyer, but only a handful people were dedicated Destros. Others switched to Destro only for Sieges and thats it.
"In DFO, the best tactic was to debuff ..." LoL. Are you the "Realbigdeal" from DF forums? If yes then ok, you're a Troll and I stop arguing with you here.

Tactics: When i'm dueling with my friends, i don't use debuffs. They say it's too cheap. In the open, i use debuffs and i win most of the time unless a better player stacks his debuffs before me(I lost to magnetic man because that's his main way to win and he had 3-4 on me before i had the time to stack my 4 main debuffs on him)
The 5 best debuffs in the game: Slash weakness, burden, tongue rot, slow, delay shot. Use wof, stack up some debuffs. Knock up: Stack 1 or 2 more debuffs. My wof was only at level 50 at the time i faced Sub zero. Still, i managed to stuck sub on a wall and there was nothing he could have done to avoid my debuffs. At the end, i won cuz sub had 0 debuff on me and i only had level 50 on most of my spells.
Other than that, my play style was scripted(Script macro) Man, it's so easy to play with scripts.( Pop a potion. Ding! Pop an the pot). DF UW is harder for the simple fact that you can't use everything and some other reasons i won't state. Even Jona Vail and Itwas luck play everydays and they like the game they said in the forum.
Everyone hate debuffs. Watch a video with a pro debuffer and don't miss the haters. bla bla bla debuff.
I'm afraid the bad stuff talked about is accurate, at least at this point. They could have at least improved the character models some, they are so bad now even compared to the original.
Will there be enough player to enjoy the game? If yes then im seriously going to give the beta a serious attempt. If
Itwas luck says the game is fun it gives me faith actually
Wait, Itwasluck said it was fun? Must be a troll post.
Anyways, I'd wait to try. Needs some more stuff added before it can be really engaging IMO.
The only reason Debuffs were used was because you could stop people from moving with WoF. Even then, you could pop a cleansing pot and make them all go away, wasting the effort of using them. It wasn't until nearly shut down that debuffs were utilized and that was only done because of the prevelance of WoF. That said, a very few people were good with them and used them effectively, but the problem was as a sole playstyle, they were gimped.

Character models are just fluff and at the bottom of a long list of more pressing issues.
Originally posted by -Zeno- AV is a small company trying to do a great thing. It takes time. They dont have 500 developers like Blizzard or 150 million to waste like EA.
They have also had years of development experience and a game launch under their belt in order to learn from previous mistakes. Something they have failed to do.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
