I just jumped back on EQ2 last night for the first time since the end of Feb.
I've only played for a few hours but I do enjoy the new spell effects and how the quest system has been streamlined. I also noticed that the engine seems to run a bit smoother. Character models seem a bit less jumpy when performing a special attack or spell.
These things aside, I have yet to get into my apartment (I started a new character on Mistmore). In some passing conversation however I found some players that just HATE the new offline market. Reports of huge inflows of items and giant deflation, etc. etc. (Doesn't sound bad to me.)
But I had to wonder. These groups of people that hated the market all seemed to be selling T4-T5 in the trade channel. Their method of complaint contained a good deal of poor arguement, unanswered questions and intrigue.
I beleive they had another account and computer running as a mule account (called dual-boxing)!
How many copies of EQ2 do you think were sold due to hardcore players and their need to dual box?
Conspiracy!
Well,
maybe not...

Yes it's going to have a temporary dramatic effect on the market.
Yes it is a much needed change.
And yes most people were overcharging anyway because it often looked like they were the only one selling an item.

I noticed the first day offline selling was in I was able to sell items to certain NPC's for more than people were selling them for. It made laugh at how everyone was trying to undercut everyone elses prices without even realizing they were ripping themselves off. Good stuff.

couldn't have said it better myself.
to give you an idea of the changing market:
I'm a lvl 36 Paladin and i've been saving up for fulginate armor. i have been looking at proces and buying what I can before i get to 40. However, after the past 2 days I've decided to stop this for the simple reason that the prices are dropping. I have noticed several peices of the set dropping 1-3g (depending on the peice) PER DAY. that's insane IMO. i think it will take some time, but the market will eventually even itself back out again. i am very, very, very happy that they added it though as it was my main complaint with the game.

XBL Gamertag - Eagle15GT
I presonally find offline selling the best thing EQ2 could have done so far in iomproving their mmorpg. The ones who argue against the concept are those who try to rip people off (like the 15 gold for a smite adept 1, etc)
I sell things a LOT in this game. I have almost 1 plat since i started my character 2 1/2 weeks ago simply by selling stuff that i found. I see no negative deflation of any type...rather my sales has improved because of the 24 hour availability given to us.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
My offline sales have remained pretty much the same, Adapts selling steady and harvests selling ok too.
What I now find is that there are a lot more items for sale and usually at a more reasonable price.
Thank god for offline selling. Now im selling all my crafting scrolls for 5s and all my combat skills for max of 1g, usualy its in the range of 20-50s (adept 1). I hate charge more cuase I couldnt buy anything for my inquisitor because people keep charging insane amounts (10-15gold) for adept 1 spells/skills. I tried to do tradeskills to make my own skills but it takes SO LONG to create anything, i realy hate crafting in EQ2 no way to automate it makes it even worse.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
