Installer not working

Hey guys!

I've been thinking on giving MO another go now that the trial is neverending. One might even call that F2P. There just seems to be a problem with the installer. I tried installing the game last week, but the patcher stops at:

"Patching Error! Failure opening new file: MortalGameCookedPCMapsMortalOnlineMyrlandRTK34350"

I thought "F*ck it. Maybe there's a maintenance, I'll try it some other time". Well I made a fresh install a week later and it still keeps saying there's something wrong with the Myrland. Any suggestions?

After getting email adds about the game, I was somehow thinking it's in playable condition. Though all this talk about donations seems bit strange. Should I even bother with the game?

From playing MO I've learned "playable" is a very stretchy term. In my book it's not, but If you really feel like you must dare I'd recommend to wait at least another one or two weeks since currently they also seem to have massive server problems (watch their server thread).

I had installer/patcher issues as well...Eventually they just...Worked themselves out? It took like 5-6 tries and the download/patching took forever (literally) but it did work...somehow...for some reason.

I would probably say that using the official forum would get you any tech support or someone who could link a thread to one of the Millions of fixes that are needed for a slew of issues.

As to asking if you "should even bother with MO."- Yes, its free and nothing to lose. Some people seem to love this game so highly its "cult-like" so there has to something to it. My own experiences with the game lead me to believe that it is not my kind of game at all and it is filled with bugs and looks unfinished- If this were a beta I would probably stick it out ...But its not.

I hear that if you can stomach the bugs, join a guild and play until level cap (or close) then you can pretty much give a good judgement to the game- I didnt get close. It seems to me that it is an arena deathmatch game and not very "sandboxy" , housing, keeps and TC seem to be totally pointless and with little to no customization. The "market" is pretty dead and....I didnt like it at all- BUT you might. There has to be something redeeming aboiut the game since fans will defend it way past the point of anytrhing I have ever seen (the devs can do no wrong and nobody should ever utter a word which isnt total praise)-

Same issue with installer, eventually it just seemed to work itself out.  It would error out, I would try again.  Reboot, try again.  Try again...eventually it installed.  Then I found out it crashed on startup about six times.  I gave up at that point.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'll give the launcher few more tries then. No one can stop this naked beast tamer! :P

You should probably take up these kind of issues on the official forums. Both because of better help and to let them know about the problem.

According to their server thread the server seems to be dead now (or in an unplayable laggy state) for 5 hours at least. No admin comment about what happens so you get the picture...
