There's at least one (cannot put the name here) large server that has EQ1 pre velious. Are there any folks interested in playing something like that with me? I have an erudite SK that needs a group.

Yes, but with a huge graphics upgrade. I jumped back into EQ2, and this sounds stupid, but the alternate skins meant I either looked good or ugly, ugly or good, game killer for me. Shame cause I loved it at release.

If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.
That unnamed project that originated back in 1999 is pretty fun and I've played off and on but I had issues grouping with my wonky play schedule.
On that unnamed project they do not allow you to multi-box which sucks for people like my self. I understand why and I don't disagree with their reasoning, because back in 1999 you were only going to multi-box if you had more than one PC at your disposal.
With that in mind I have toyed with Everquest Mac edition, which is upto Planes of Power and it still gives you a much more classic Everquest feel than the standard edition Sony hosts on the main servers. And, you can multi-box for those times you are unable to find a pick up group

While I agree for the most part, 90% of the original game is still intact, they have made a few bad decisions, but honestly the biggest problem at this point is age and usability.
Increasing the numbers every expansion didn't kill Everquest, and the core gameply mechanics are the same. I'm still in a medium sized tight knit guild that has several groups going from levels 1 to 100 every night on the RP server.
There are some aspects I don't agree with like the cash shop and other additions over the years, but it was necessary to continue a good development pace so I can live with it.

Me too! In hindsight, refacing EQ zones was a collossal waste of time. Didn't attract any new players, and turned off old players. Much hate for the new Freeport. Repainting EQ was like putting a neon paint job on a (insert classic car here).
While I'm on metaphors, here's another. EQ1 was like a delicious cake. Mmm mm good. Kunark was like adding a second layer to the cake. Wonderful! Now that we have 13 layers of cake, it's kind of a mess.
I played on that classic server for a few months in 2010; and posted on the forums til 2012. Rumors of major camping problems at high levels turned me off. Forum is full of juveniles, too.
What I would MOST like to do is for SOE to release an official PC-client for the Mac (al-kabor) server. Then you get to play *actual* EQ as it was during the Planes of Power expansion. The aforementioned classic server is *not* classic lol.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
I play on that server we won't mention some. My problem is I always hated the end-game in EQ so it's kind of a dead end for me. I leveled up a guy and then...you know...that's it. I still occasionally mess with alts there but it's very off and on now.
I wish someone would make the same type of server but figure out a different end-game to put in it. Of course I know that will never happen.
You do realize you can play Everquest Mac in Windows 7. I'm not goinig to say how on here because I'm not entirely sure how the mods on this site feel about it. A quick search on Google will tell you how to do it.
Complaining about old computer graphics is pretty much the same as complaining about black and white films and photographs. OMG, those 1864 civil war tintypes are so fk'n dated. And Citizen Kane - whats up with that? if Young Frankenstein was shot in color it woulda been so much better. what the heck, Mel?
Yes I knew but thank you anyways
Yes exactly.
