Instead of responding to each one of these threads, perhaps putting a main thread as a sort of FAQ would be the best because of all of the duplicate questions.
First here is the offical news site. It will have all sorts of information about the game that you should know - such as races/classes/spells http://www.camelotherald.com/index.shtml

That will give you the link to mmorpg's updated graphics 14 day trial. It will also give you a CD key as soon as you go to that site. So try using that one if you are having a problem. If for some reason that CD key doesn't work then go to it again and get another one. Also CD keys can be tricky sometimes so be very sure that it is correct.
I can only play on the test server - make sure you are running the game client and not the test client. You should be provided with both. Use the test client only if you want to play on the test server - it won't let you play on the others. If that is not the problem, then reinstall the game. That should fix the problem. If that does not work then you can call the company for tech support.
Is it free - yes for 14 days it is free. You will not be billed up after 14 days.
Why do I need a CC - because they do not want to waste the money giving the game away to people with no means to ever pay to play the game. They are here to make money, not for a public service to enteratain the masses. Lastly it keeps the community from going down hill by having a huge influx of immature people that are there to complain, be imature, and to beg. This isn't EQ or WoW. We do not want their bad community coming over to ours.
Are they any other options to pay - yes you can use a debit card. Anyone that can get a bank account - evan saving account - can usually get one. Also you have prepaid CC you can buy. Lastly they have a pay by cash option. You can check their site for details, but I think it is something like paybuycash.com You send the money and once they do you can play the game. This last option I would not really recomend for the free trial of the game.
What does the trial include - the game includes the original game and the first expansion. It also has the newest graphics engine and upgrades to the art work. You are missing two expansions. One expansion is really only for those 40+ so you do not need it anyway. The latest one you are missing out on some nice class, zones, and some easy leveling options. However this trial should give you a feel for the look of the game.
Where are all the people/What server/What realm - The game will (or used to) direct new players to the realm/server they want you to play on but you can pick any of them. If you pick the highest population servers then you will see more people out and have a better chance of grouping pre level 20. If you choose one of the other servers then you will most likely be on a clustered server. In those cases you will have a harder time finding groups at low level. In any of the cases plase wait until around level 25 to really judge the game. By then you should have played enough, had a chance to group, and done some RvR in the BG. Unlike a new game with people running around level 1-10 looking for groups most of the players have been playing for years and as such as unlikely to be playing any toons those levels except for the new classes that came with the last expansion.
What is a clustered server - it is a set of servers where those servers all share the same RvR. This has allowed for much larger groups and battles in the front. You can also teleoprt to the PvE areas of other servers to group and quest.

Is it possible to play the trial with anything else other than a credit card?
I have a question, ive been using the test client and ive met quite a few ppl. Well anyway my question is why wont the client(non test) not work for me but the test one will?
if the other client does indeed open up more servers that would be cool, because ive been asking ppl in game if when the trial is over and we subscribed(which i did) do the other servers open up for us?
Well anyway one more question i have is will i have to reinstall it all, and if so will i have to put credit info in again? I hope not cuz i had to "borrow" my sister's boyfriends credit card to pay cuz I really don't like the guy lol. Oh and I have no access to the card again?

is it normally quite hard to log in to the game. i have register and have played for a bit until a mesaged appered saying server shutting down, so i left it for a couple of hours and since then i cant seem to log back on, been trying for an hour....is this common?

They do thake the servers down to patch or to fix any major problems. When the servers do go down it is usually around 8 am eastern time. They are up in 2-4 hours. I am not sure what you mean by often. I would say patches now come about every couple of months. I would expect that the servers would come down at least once for some reason during that patch. So in a 2-3 month time frame I would say that the servers will come down around 3 times.

That will keep you up with all of the games hapenings including when the servers are up and down and why.
The only other option is to get the trial disks and update the graphics. Or I guess what you can do is to go to fileplanet and get their trial. Then go to http://www.darkageofcamelot.com/patches/
Onc ethen click to download the SI material on that site. That will update the graphics and open up everything you would have gotten from downloading the program from here.
Yeah this morning i tried to log in and it said that the game was being updated so i went to sleep until about now lol. I havnt checked back to see if i can get in or not.
If you played in a cllustered server then you can't play in one of the other servers for a timer of 8 hours. This is to limit the cheating that can happen in the New Frontiers with spying and stuff like that. I found this timer very annoying at first but after a while i found it helps alot even though i lost a coupl.e lvl 30-40 toons in one of the other severs.
For those of you who have not played Dark age before hear me.
Unlike sony, and unlike Blizzard Mythic cares about the game. They want players to stay but to like their game for what it is not to candycoat it and give freebie's to keep players. Mythic has added more free (not having to buy an expansion to get) stuff to any MMO i have played. Their expansions have TONS of content in them. With the new Catacombs expansion the graphics are comparable to EQ2 in my opinion.
I reccomend you try the trial its free and you got nothing to lose.
hmmm HELP??!!
It seems I am struck by the same strange error - I can play on test server but can't run "normal" version. I DO want to play this game as it seems to be able to occupy me longer than WoW (which is ... just ... simple ... too simple for me)
Nevertheless - I can not run normal version - it does not go after an initial (enter password etc screen).
as ( JulianDracos ) stated make sure you are using the camelot { regular } server client not the { test server }

the problem is that I did launch NORMAL/regular Camelot client (not test one...)
well I have directed that to DAoC team - as it appear to be the common bug/obstacle here.

The quickest and easiest way to get help is to call them. Since today is friday I really would give them a call because the weekend is the best time to play if you are looking for lots of people.

I'm having awful trouble trying to download the 14 dy free trial game from the web site. I a have T1 connection, but the download won't go over 20Kb/s. I've tried abot a dozen times at various times of the day and on various days of the last 2 weeks. The download times out about 400MB into the download (if it gets that far).
I've tried downloading from different browsers and using direct download or download managers. Nothing works.
If the file was available from more than a single server, say through a workdwide mirror network, bittorrent or through "sister sites" in various countries then I would be able to pick one closer to home to make sure it's not just my connection.
Forum signatures are stupid and annoying. I've turned mine off.
Try downloading the free trial from another place like fileplanet. It won't be the updated graphics or anything. Install it and then go to www.darkageofcamelot.com/patches and download the patch that will add the graphics.
On Fileplanet you will not recive Catacombs graphic engine, which is 1GB big. You can download the engine at the official site of DAoC.
